We didn't get the car (XC90 Inscription Pro) to the specification we ordered, despite having questioned the order at the initial factory order stage.

When we collected the car it had a fault and had to be immediately booked into the service department for repair. This was a result of poor workmanship at the dealer during towbar installation.

Communication with the dealership has been awful and felt like a chore.

Would not recommend this dealership for any future purchases.

We were offered discounted winter tires as part of our compensation, these never materialised as it became such a chore to even get a price for them after exchanging endless emails.

Very pleased with service. Initial contact to picking up our Volvo was professional and hassle free.
Disappointed with the delay obviously but we know it was out the dealerships hands. We were kept up to date and informed of status at timely intervals.

I had a service on my V70 and on the way home had some issues with a red light coming on saying "low coolant level - stop car" The coolant had been changed and obviously the technician had not run the car long enough to get the levels correct. It was a nightmare getting home and when I arrived I saw there was no coolant in the expansion tank. I called Edinburgh Volvo the next morning and was answered by a very helpful customer service member who apologised, talked to the manager and arranged for a technician to be at my house within one hour. A very helpful, articulate technician arrived quickly and talked through what had happened and sorted the issue He even left me with some spare coolant. I have to say I went from angry to very impressed. Mistakes can happen, but when the issue is resolved to this level of superb customer service then anger turns to respect. Well done Edinburgh Volvo!

I have just purchased my first Volvo, a hybrid B4 XC40 from John Clark at Glasgow Road, Edinburgh. As no stranger to buying new cars I feel I am well qualified to provide a review and can only rate my overall experience for this purchase as 5 stars!! Obviously the car played a huge part in my decision making, and it is incredible, but I feel the whole seamless process from first contact right through to finally driving off in my pristine Volvo, was all down to the excellent sales service provided by Aaron Scott. An absolute credit to the JC Motor Group, a breath of fresh air in the car sales environment and a genuinely straight up, friendly, helpful guy. All contact with Aaron was exemplary making my experience so easy and straight forward. I will absolutely recommend John Clark Volvo to others and return myself when the time comes to renew my Volvo, which is a dream to drive!

Traded in and bought XC60 at Edinburgh Volvo. Aside several issues regards staff not getting name spelling correct, missing car mat on uplift, spare key not working required me to travel 50 round trip to get fixed, oh and empty washer fluid , I also had asked on several occasions as wasnt getting answers regards future service plans. After uplifting I again chased up. Finally only a two year deal for pre regd car which was not exactly value in my opinion. After too and fro emails with aftersales manager/service I voiced my opinion re the lack of information pre sale ! And that I may go elsewhere for aftercare.
The must be so arrogant not to reconnect customer as heard NOTHING since leaving me to believe they not too bothered with my after care customer SO my future warranty and service (3 year plan taken out) will go to Taggarts Volvo Glasgow who happily took over my after care from a rival dealership.
Will be my last dealings with this garage.

Good if you want a brand new car with bird lime stains on it. Customer service that doesn’t respond. A two day ‘respray’ job which mysteriously washes off in the rain. A courtesy car of an employee who was still clearly unwell with Covid and his wife was “really ill with it”. Still not fixed, still no response.

After being offered a deal through NHS staff discount (which appears to be no different to anyone else) I arranged a test drive. Travelled 100+ mile round trip, test drove the car and was then told the deal has risen by £25 pm. To much focus on insurance packages and uncompetitive trade in was also irritating. Wasted my time and fuel. Should have known the place lacked premium service when told of the £500 excess to test drive a car!

Dean Goodfellow was excellent to deal with.

Very knowledgeable about the range and spec of vehicles as well as buying options available.

Feeling cheated
I’ve been having problems with the under engine tray and decided that I needed a Volvo specialist for a proper job. I was quoted £230 to fit a £80 body panel!! Two weeks later at John Clark in Edinburgh when the work commenced the part was not available to fit and the price had risen to nearly £400. The following day when I collected the car I was given an apology and an explanation. Unbeknown to me the initial quote was provided through a call centre for John Clark, presumably for cost reasons. However it turns out that all the risk of inaccurate estimates lies entirely with the customer. No “downside” for JC so perhaps this is the way forward.
If I had a more accurate quote then I would have definitely shopped around more.
An apology costs nothing but I am significantly out of pocket.
I just hope they did a good job!!!

We recently bought a car from John Clark Motor Group – Volvo Cars Edinburgh and staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. We are loving our new Volvo XC40!

Staff were helpful and friendly from initial contact through to handover of new car. Sales process did not feel pushy or pressured at all, and initial handover of the car we bought included the clearest and most thorough walkthrough of the car's features that I can ever remember having.

Great experience buying our new XC40 remotely via Volvo Edinburgh (we live in Glasgow). Gareth the sales guy was very helpful, kept us fully updated, even when an unexpected glitch cropped up. Excellent handover and delighted with the car, which is the bottom line.
