Car has been nothing but a problem from day 1. The warranty they pushed on me is worthless in all 3 repairs so far. Never had such bad service. PLEASE just avoid at all costs.

My girlfriend just picked up a 63 plate A3 from John Clark Motorchoice in Edinburgh and cannot fault the experience at all. Darryl was absolutely fantastic in presenting all options to us for the vehicle and never tried to force a decision. Quite possibly one of the most pleasant salesman either of us have dealt with.

Excellent customer service, I would highly recommend this garage. From beginning to end, everything went smoothly, good communication and everything was done as promised. Daryll is a credit to the team and I will definitely use this garage again. Thank you once again for all your help!

Worst sales man ever encountered at Aberdeen Motorchoice.
Has taken over 1 week for them to send an invoice for payment amd we are STILL chasing it now. Told it would be 2 weeks before could get car. ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING SERVICE!.
If my daughter doesn't get the car on Saturday (that we have had to take days off work to collect) then she isn't going to manage work or attend uni due to where we live and an even worse bus service!!

It was my first dealing with John Clarke Motorchoice Edinburgh and I am happy with my purchase.
The sales executive that I dealt with, Connor Smith, was very professional, friendly and accommodating.
Any queries/issues that arose, Connor rectified straight away.
I was impressed with Connor’s attention to detail, such as having the car fully valeted for the test drive and even having the windows down on the sunny day that I collected the car.
I would be happy to deal with John Clark Motorchoice again and I commend Connor on the execution of his job, even when training someone in at the same time.

My husband and I went to look at a Black Jeep Grand Cherokee at the Edinburgh branch yesterday - we were dealing with Daryl.

Upon inspection of the car, we found a body filler applicator sitting in with the spare wheel, and could smell body filler.
After a quick look we found that the near side rear panel had been (badly) repaired - shoddy spray, orange peel texture, panels out of alignment, broken trim. We then realised that the near side rear wheel was misaligned.

When speaking to Daryl on the phone there had been no mention of the car being in an accident, and he had in fact informed me that the car had been recently serviced and MOTd - I’m not certain that the car should have passed an MOT with the damage to the near side rear wheel/axle.

If this is the standard of car that is being pulled in for sale, then I suggest going to a more honest and reputable dealership.
I have left with the lasting impression that the salesmen are greatly misinformed on the cars, or simply don’t care about what they are selling.

Daryl was downright rude. There was no apologies for wasting our time (we had driven over 1 1/2 hours from Glasgow which he was well aware of).
More training in dealing with customers is required Daryl - your ‘patter’ doesn’t come across well.

Total waste of time and 1/2 tank of fuel. I hope Motorchoice is embarrassed.

** Update on my original review -
The branch manager phone me from his mobile phone this morning (breach of GDPR rules there!).

He was apparently looking the the Jeep, and ‘could not see’ any of the problems with the car that I had listed above.

I can only assume he has poor eyesight, was looking at the wrong car, or was insinuating that I was lying.

The branch manager was ignorant and rude over the phone - talking over me on numerous occasions, and repeatedly denying that he could see a problem with the car.

I would not trust this dealership as far as I could throw them, I have met more trustworthy thieves.

Please take the time to read through previous reviews - by the sounds of it we dodged a bullet, and I hope that this helps other avoid buying potentially faulty cars and having to deal with whatever other poor services they apparently have to offer.

Bought a BMW M135 four week ago. Parcel shelf was missing. Was advised it would sent out via post. Numerous phonecalls and emails later still no parcel shelf, after being assured it would be sent out. Surely when you spend nearly 20 grand on a car you should get all the parts?

This was my first dealing with John Clark Motor Group - Edinburgh and in particular, Connor Smith - Sales Executive. Connor is a credit to this company and guided me through from initial phone call, to me driving off the forecourt a very happy customer. He was friendly, chatty and very knowledgeable which made the whole process as good as it gets. Whilst I was sorry to see my Peugeot RCZ go, I am delighted with the Merc, it drives like a dream. Thoroughly recommend both Connor and the Motor Group from this experience.

Dropped to 1 star as I STILL DONT HAVE MY PARCEL SHELF

Great job up to the point of sale, after that not so much.

Realised my car was missing the parcel shelf when we arrived home, contacted the Edinburgh site I bought the vehicle from and was assured it would be sorted ASAP.

1 month later, numerous calls to chase and I only managed to get a response by putting a further complaint form in. No communication from Motorchoice throughout for what was a really simple issue to resolve, I guess the salesman thought I'd just forget about it eventually.

Another 2 weeks have passed and still just a promise, calls made to chase, callback promises undelivered the same as my parcel shelf.

Thanks for nothing!

I popped by Edinburgh branch after seeing a car on auto trader. The first thing that strikes you are how well turned out the cars are on the forecourt. What a fabulous dealership. Everyone was friendly & professional. I dealt with Euan who was amazing. No hard sales, just lots of knowledge and advice given. Its so refreshing to have a dealership who are professional yet go the extra mile for the customer and are willing to negotiate. Many thanks to Euan for his exceptional customer service & to Steve the sales manager for cutting the right deal. You will not be disappointed if you purchase a car from Motorchoice in Edinburgh!!

Very poor customer service. I went over to visit Edinburgh Motorchoice on the 24feb 2022 to look at a BMW 640i. I told the salesman Cameron Kirkby i was interested in it. I left details of my trade in an older CL 500 Mercedes and showed him the V5 ,MOT papers and photos of the car. I filled in details of my trade in on the motorchoice website and he said he would work out some figures. Never heard a cheep, i phoned the garage on monday 28th feb and was told Cameron was outside and he would phone me back. Never phoned me back despite having my nos and email address. When i was at the garage i noticed a BMW 730d for sale and upon enquiring was told it was sold - quess what it is now on the website next to 640i for sale. The salesmen must have life to easy.

Would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the John Clark motor group for the purchase of my new car . This is now my third car that I have bought from yourself and I’ve never left dissatisfied with any aspects of the work you do and my vehicles performance/ look are always first class . Special mention to Ewan in your Edinburgh showroom from the start of the process to the end he’s top class . Ps the extra touch of changing the colour of my wheels from silver to black without me even asking as this would give a better look wow !!! . Best car showroom in Edinburgh fact . Many thanks to Euan Gilbraith for his excellent customer support to my buying a very smart Clio for my daughter. We received the same level of customer care that you would expect when buying one of their cars at ten times the price! 100% recommendation!

Spotted a VW Golf on the website, not really in stock yet and got some rubbish pictures from the salesman Darryl but decided to proceed.

Paid the reservation fee and all communication stopped! That’s all they are interested in! Waited days and days eventually called the garage and insisted I talk to someone who managed to tell me the finance was ready.

The salesman advised he would get the car delivered for me but no further communication. I chased him again after 10 days and he had decided he couldn’t deliver the car so I had to travel to get it.

Travelled eventually and hung around Edinburgh for 3 hours because it couldn’t be collected until 3pm. Got to the garage, which is a tip by John Clark standards, nobody on reception and stood about for 10 minutes. Eventually acknowledged by another salesman who went to get the elusive Darryl.

He eventually turned up and the car wasn’t ready, it was still being “valeted”, by the local community service team by the looks of it.
No protective coating applied which I had been surreptitiously charged for, storage bins still full of rubbish, chocolate (or similar) in the side pockets.

Darryl then disappeared for a full 40 minutes, I was left hanging around yet again.

I was eventually offered a free service but quite frankly if the service department is anything like sales, I won’t be visiting again.

As for the car,
The phone connection cable is broken.
All manuals and service books are missing.
The start/stop is stuck on (very dangerous)
The gearbox mode can’t be changed
There was no battery in the spare key
The tyres were indicating as low pressure
The valet was half hearted and awful.

It should still be exciting to change a car and the whole half hearted, couldn’t care less attitude made the whole experience humiliating.

Buying through lockdown was always going to be different & you would expect to allow extra time etc. but I’ve never experienced worse customer service than from John Clark Motorchoice Edinburgh. In fact, the treatment was nothing short of disrespectful even before buying the car, when usually car sales people are ‘going the extra mile’ for your business.

I’d have bought the car almost a month beforehand if they’d ever returned my calls. Ignoring the warning signs I stupidly persevered and was rewarded with nothing but stress and hassle, including an extended warranty not being registered & ultimately sent to the wrong address.

So a truly horrendous experience all around, plus the car itself seems to be a bit of a lemon! Spoiler alert - the repair garage, another branch in the group(Pentland Stirling), is also absolutely appalling to deal with. Including: returning the car when the problem still exists, never phoning to provide updates, & telling you parts have arrived only to be told days later they are in fact on back order!
