Very disappointing return experience

I paid for a membership and bought a tent from GO Outdoors because it was advertised as darkened. However, when I actually set it up, it was very clear that it is nowhere near darkened — a lot of light comes through.

I wanted to return it, but I was told that because I had used the tent, they could not accept the return. But honestly, how am I supposed to find out whether a tent is actually darkened without taking it outside and setting it up? I obviously couldn’t determine this properly just by looking at it in the packaging.

What was even more disappointing was being made to feel as though I had taken the tent on holiday, used it for a trip and then simply decided to return it. That is not what happened.

I genuinely wish I had bought it from Amazon instead. I would have been able to return it without being made to feel like I had done something wrong, and it would have been collected from my door rather than me having to spend hours travelling to a store just to try to return a product that was not as advertised.

Very disappointing customer service and a very frustrating experience, especially after paying for a membership.

The staff in the store were very helpful , and I purchased two items I traveled to the erdington store after the staff at Tamworth were so unhelpful and dismissive .didn’t really want to give go outdoors my business but erdinton staff help changed my view and I became a member for future purchases

We had a problem with our tent poles and the manager was amazing and helped us rethread them in store. Staff were all polite and helpful too.

Purchased a new air tent with internal & base mat..NO upselling just great service and advising me of a Great deal on an full height blow up tent..👍🏼👍🏼

Brought my new boots in store, and a member of staff came over to help me gave me great advice on sizing and let me try them on before hand, recommended the store each time I go the staff go above and beyond

My partner’s membership card had expired a while ago. He wanted to buy the Phoxx 3 tent but thought he’d have to pay full price until his card had been re-newed.
I spoke to Shauni the young lady at the till and she was very helpful and polite. The renewal issue was resolved immediately and I had one very happy partner.

Great customer service, from both the gentleman at the checkout and from Bradley to help me find the right pair of shoes for my needs! Always enjoy coming to Go Outdoors for their range and for their staff; I feel completely vindicated keeping them as my first choice option for outdoors equipment.

Easy to navigate around the store, it’s clean and tidy with prices clearly displayed. The staff were friendly and helpful. They offered help but we didn’t need it. They have a changing room which was good as there’s plenty of clothing to choose from. Shauni served us, she was very welcoming, polite and friendly.

Went into the Erdington store today and was served by a very happy and helpful staff member on the till called katie. I asked her questions about the membership deals and the card which she set up for me
Would highly recommended this store and the helpful staff.

I visited the store a few times over a few days due to wanting more information about the freedom 7 air tent . Oliver was so helpful and informative , he really went out of his way to help me in choosing but applied no pressure.
When I went back to purchase the tent Oliver then took it to the till for us .

His service from start to finish was exemplary. Not only was his knowledge and understanding of our requirements perfect he was also very friendly and helpful! We look forward to visiting this store again and hopefully being served by Liam!

Fantastic service from Josh and Millie! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We honestly couldn’t have asked for better service from Josh and Millie when purchasing our roof tent. Nothing was too much trouble for them from start to finish.

Before we even visited the store, they were incredibly helpful over the phone, answering our questions and making sure everything was arranged for when we arrived. When we got there, they were waiting for us and went out of their way to help us with the roof bars too.

Unfortunately, Go Outdoors didn’t have the correct roof bars for our car, which could have made things really difficult. However, Josh and Millie couldn’t have been more accommodating and kindly offered to keep our TentBox safely in storage until the correct roof bars arrived. This took away all the stress and meant we didn’t have to make alternative arrangements.

When we returned to the store, Millie remembered us straight away and even asked how we were getting on, while someone went to retrieve our roof tent. It was such a lovely personal touch and really showed how much they genuinely cared about our experience.

Josh and Millie truly went above and beyond for us. They were both incredibly friendly, warm, approachable and professional, and nothing was ever too much trouble — even when we had to mess around with the roof bars!

Customer service like this makes such a difference. We felt looked after throughout the whole process and would happily recommend Go Outdoors to anyone, especially if you’re lucky enough to deal with Josh and Millie.
