For geeky, nerdy, items such as comic books and science fiction/fantasy gifts, it's hard to find a broader range of items than Forbidden Planet has. Even for franchises that are decidedly not what you'd call "top tier" there are still usually dozens of products to choose from including books, comics, action figures, statues, prop replicas, and other gifts. And for the biggest brands in this kind of geeky subculture, such as Star Wars or Marvel, there are literally hundreds of options.

I have several family members interested in these sci fi/fantasy franchises and Forbidden Planet is my go-to when a birthday or Christmas is coming up.

The only criticism I have, which is why I knocked a star off, is that the delivery isn't great when compared to places like Amazon. Perhaps I've been spoilt by Amazon's next-day delivery option, but my Forbidden Planet orders always take close to a week to arrive, and that's with paying for P&P. It's not the end of the world but if I needed a gift urgently I'd probably have to look elsewhere.

They refused to refund an unopened/unused item which had only been purchased a few days previous. I have actually been visiting this shop since my teens but had never needed their customer service before. Now I see they have terrible feedback, such a shame, this is why people are avoiding the high street, favouring the internet instead. We won't be using them anymore!

Ordered a boardgame where the delivery date changed due to supplier problems. which is not the stores fault, however FP failed to keep me updated, didn't start making enquiries until after the aribtary due date has passed, and when emailed them directly sent me standard response, saying i could cancel if i wanted to but not offering any info beyond posting another date. I wouldn't order from them again. I also noticed that other shops in the UK had stock of the game when they didn't. I've had much better service from other stores I've used recently, Zatu/Chaos Card/Magic Madhouse with much cheaper prices and better customer service.

Great products online, but incredibly slow processing and dispatch. Poor communication and order updates.
I purchased a calendar- it arrived on the 19th of January. Would obviously have preferred to receive it much sooner!

I love shopping at FP and have since i was 14 (26 as i write this).. prices are meh at times but I've never had a problem with the one in hanley(stoke on trent). staff are polite and willing to help and i use to ask them to save manga books for me which they did.. the makeover the hanley store has had is amazing and i love that its caught the attention of new people joining our geeky shop.

i can't tell you about the online as I've never ordered online.

Just had an item cancelled which was pre ordered a couple weeks ago. They were kind enough to get back to me to say that it was cancelled due to lack of stock. Makes it harder to looks for other gifts as was a present and won’t buy again. Avoid if you are shopping for Christmas as you may not receive item

I am so pi**ed with this company they basically stole my money almost £100 I am going to seek legal action if my issues are not resolved. Do not order/buy anything thing from these scam artists and spread the word. It is shocking they can get away with this in this day and age.

Two pre-orders and an old order never arrived. Emailed them at sales at forbiddenplanet.co.uk and no reply

This used to be my favorite shop for funko pops, sadly they dont sell them here anymore.

Poor service. My order never arrived. Took a week to get a refund.

So I made a pre-order for a Pop vinyl back in July. The figure was released at the end of September (plenty of time.)
Since then the company has ceased online trading for all figures.
On the website they have a tab 'what about my order' you enter your email and it informs you of the current status of said order.
Initially my delivery date was 30th September, once this date had passed I check on the status of my order and it says 'supplier dependant.'
This company (if you can call them that) has no phone number to contact them on, the Facebook page is flakey at best with my original message taking 4 days to be replied to.
With my initial message the person on the other end said that would speak to the sales team and get back to me ASAP, 7 days later I hate to message them for an update and they didn't even mention that they had spoken to the sales team.
After spending nearly 2 weeks in communication over Facebook with them they have no date on when my order will be sent out, they have no idea if they have the item I ordered in stock (bear in mind this was a pre-order) and all they have suggested is that I email the sales team to try and get a refund.

All in all the absolute worst company I have ever made a purchase from. If I could remove the single star that I have to give to post this then I would. Spend your money elsewhere, these robbing gits don't deserve any of it.
I hope the rest of the company goes the way of their online store and ceases to exist.

I have placed a pre-order once. There was a delay by their supplier (only a few days) but the costumer service was very helpful and informative. Eventually the product arrived six days after the dispatch, well packaged and in great condition.

Historically, I'd have given them (forbiddenplanet.co.uk) 5 stars, primarily because they always took great care when packaging items. But having just received my final outstanding pre-order, I can't give them more than 3 stars. While they used an over-sized cardboard box (as per usual), the heavy hardback book it contained was free to be bashed around inside the box, resulting in one of the corners being squashed. While they put some bubble wrap in the box, they didn't fasten it around the book so that the book was protected. I had been sorry to see them go out of business, but given my experience with this final order (and their total lack of response to an email I sent), it seems fitting that the online store has ceased to be,

Where do I begin. So I pre-ordered some POP Vinyl figures a month or so ago and recently I found out that they are ceasing trading online which honestly you should at least contacted your customers that have orders but no. I guess that was too much to ask for. I emailed them a week ago about what is happening and got no reply.Still as of writing this review I've got no update about my order! I contacted them via social media and got no luck. Honestly this has to be the worst company I have ever dealt with regarding pre-orders. Their customer service is just dreadful I suppose their stores are just as bad then. Stay away from them and go elsewhere with your custom.

Ordered two items in the sale (t-shirt and funko pop). Was emailed when my order went through and when they were dispatched. They came 3 days after ordering (excluding weekend) which was ideal. The products are great and the prices were good too. P&P does seem to have a big increase depending on how much was ordered but luckily the P&P was only £4 for me. Would definitely order from again.

Ordered an item on the 7th July.

Still not received this. - Don't even try to bother trying to ring them, you WILL NOT get through. You will wait 10 minutes and they will hang up.

Currently awaiting a reply via email.

Placed three orders for just short of £1000 . Items were in stock and the money was taken immediately from my account.
This was 12 days ago and the order status is still "being processed".
Customer service on the phone is non existent in that you are kept on hold for 10 mins then it hangs up.
Yes, they have had a sale and sure they are probably busy but a little update would be cool.
So, I have emailed them today to cancel all orders. Let's hope they are quicker at refunding the money than they are at sending out the goods.

Forbidden Planet International offer a great selection of stock, with often better prices than rival ForbiddenPlanet.com. However, it’s still worth shopping around, as many independent retailers offer lower prices than either Forbidden Planet, particularly on the likes of Kotobukiya ARTFX+ lines.

A really useful comments box is available, when placing orders, allowing you to make specific order requests. I have always really liked this feature, as it has often helped me to get hold of mint or near mint product boxes.

I have always found the website very easy to use, and have found their returns process fairly straightforward. I much prefer shopping on their website, as their stores don’t offer enough variety, or volume, of stock. Staff also don’t seem to know enough about what stock is due to arrive in store, and when.

Ordered A funko 1 month ago and not been dispatched. emailed Forbidden planet a number of times each time told the same thing, they cannot predict how long it would take to receive an order from the supplier. In my eyes, you should take products off the website if they are not in stock.
