Appalling company. We paid our debt in full to them on the sale of our house as agreed. Then 6 months later out of the blue we received another bill from them for £150 not sure what this was for and neither were they! I think the financial ombudsman needs to take a look at this company.

Literally just got a letter today August 2021 stating I owe a parking fine from April 2020 - threatened to send bailiffs if I don't pay NOW, for a fine from over a year ago - apparently I rented an Avis car to do this - Clearly not me!. I called Equita up and they said Islington council demands I pay and I was refused any time to appeal. I have raised a complaint with Islington - but shocked at how aggressive and threatening Equita are!!

Everyone complain to whoever owned the debt in the first place and if council then complain to the social care ombudsmen.

They are a disgrace who don’t accept payment plans and inflate costs.

I had a penalty not payed to Southampton council ( moved to Southampton and changed my address with DVLA a few days after) as never received the penalty charge. Equita send me an email and I called them back. They said that I own them 408£ and wanted me to pay by phone. I even did not know who they were and if it was a scam….asked for a letter send to my address and they were not very happy, like it was a stupid request. Also they did not telll me what happened and they just gave a brief description of the charge. Went to my bank and they told me to call them again and ask more about the depth. I called and the employee was arrogant and when I told that English was not my mother language (I said it’s not my mother’s language), he started making fun of me….
It’s very sad that such a brute is speaking with public.
I qualify the company as arrogant (without wanting even to explain what one owns and why), with employees that should not be dealing with public ( rude and impatient).

I was in my living room and someone walked right into my house, that will teach me to keep my doors locked. I herd some shouting so I checked. The guy was over 6feet tall and very intimidating. He asked for my husband I told him he wasn't home, he asked me to call him which I did he didn't answer, so he asked me to call him again and message him. I explained to him that my husband isn't allowed his phone at work and will reply at 12pm a5 his lunch break he then told me I am going to walk around all the rooms in the house. I told him my son was asleep upstairs, and it wasn't happy with him walking in all the rooms of my house as its private
I told him I have nothing to do with this dept and speak to my husband and to stop harassing me. As he was about to enter one of the rooms I gave him my card and he made the payment himself. Which was out of order.
I had a Continuous cough fever and lost my voice, plus I am vulnerable.

going back more than 10 years Had these incompetent morons more than once chasing debts for people left 5 plus years ago at various rental properties really how hard is it to check public records. If IV got access to Google sure you morons have access to a computer maybe actually train your staff to open a browser and do some actual research where you send your bloody letters too

This company has been to my home address to take goods in a lockdown is illegal bad person came bad attitude and bad manners don't deal with this one they broke the law of taking goods in a lockdown as said by Boris Johnson I will take this opportunity to take further action by the law

At 7am this morning I had one of their enforcement officers braying on the door terrifying the kids. The debt was paid in full, directly to the creditor in January. He left threatening 'to come back with his van and take my stuff' two months after the council tax arrears were cleared. Equita refuses to provide me with a copy of the court order or state which regulator they come under. Equita is acting outside of the law.

Called to set up a regular payment plan. Ok, it's not their fault I got into debt, I had a dispute over council tax and refused to pay it because they (Nott City Council) were charging me the full amount even though I'm a single adult with a child under 16.
Anyway, phoned to try and get a payment arrangement sorted, they wanted 6 months payments. No way I can afford that. So I said at a squeeze I could pay £100 a month.
Nope, not good enough. Didn't take ANY details of my expenses and didn't ask about the amount of my income.
I thought all debt collectors are supposed to take details of your income and all expenses. Obviously not.
Will now do anything to avoid dealing with these in the future.
And as for my local council, they're going to have a bigger fight on their hands if they think they're charging me full amount this year!

I can’t believe that company like this runs in country that pride itself for been democratic , civilised, and respect others rights .
Bunch of enraged dogs .. no manners , full of hate and disrespect .
Their approach is unbelievably aggressive and hostile .
Had penalty charge notice from TFL for driving through the ULEZ two yeas ago which I wasn’t aware of
And all correspondence were sent to my old address as I moved house in same month the penalty charge was issued
I appealed against it the court rejected it after showing all evidence even the date when DVLA logbook was issued.
I then started making payement towards it to equita an amount of £320
Couple months later when I had only £100 left to pay ..Monday i get letter “ Notice of removal “
I called the person on the letter calls himself “ manager “ enforcement agent “ he was very aggressive ,, threatening , patronising and bully.. this guy had some serious attitude issue as if he hated everyone on the planet .
I asked him why he added another £235 to the £100 balance ..
he claimed that i never made any arrangements to make monthly payements.
Every conversation I had with him was nothing but aggression.. bullying.. and constantly kept threatening me with coming to my house .
(When I already I made payment of £200 in total towards the original amount of £ 324)
Before they came last week and added another £235 and now put me back to square one and pay have to pay £358 ,, the money I don’t even have .
These thieves are saying that I didn’t make arrangements to pay them the £100 month, they have been receiving since November but the criminals never rejected the payments.
I accepted the stupid let down from the court rejecting my appeal against TFL but
Will not let this enraged dogs and sharks bully me .
Definitely getting solicitor now .

Literally shaking with anger. Just had the misfortune of encountering Equita in regards to a parking debt I don’t owe because I LIVED ON THE STREET the alleged ticket was given. And I had permits to park there as long as I liked. Rang the council at the time of the ticket and they told me not to worry about it, it was being wiped as I lived on the street. Got a letter this week about an enforcement action, so just rang and spoke to, quite frankly, an uneducated thug who wouldn’t allow me to speak and then had the audacity to accuse me of talking over him. He told me I had rang Equita in August 2020 (untrue) and that they had a recording. I asked to hear the recording, he said I would have to request it. Then he said he has a transcript of alleged call and I asked him to read it, no, I have to request it by email. He told me that back in August I put an appeal in against the ticket, which failed (not true). I asked them if they had documentation of this, he replied that I spoke to them in August 2020, which quite clearly basically means no, they haven’t. I asked for a manager because his tone and manner of speaking to me was utterly offensive. He said that I can’t speak to a manager but I can email a complaint. I asked for a phone number for a complaint department, they don’t have one (shocker!). I asked him to put a hold on the account until I can speak to the council on Monday, no they can’t do that, so even though I have asked for them to give me til Monday to sort out (because I can’t contact the council today on account of them being closed) I was told if I don’t pay up, another £235 would be added. By this point I was utterly frustrated and, well, furious, so I called him a f***wit and hung up. Not my finest hour and I wish I’d held my tongue, but I won’t let anyone talk to me like I’m a second class citizen, let alone some Brummy bully boy with a superiority complex and the IQ of a goldfish. I’ve paid the ‘debt’ as fortunately I’m in a position to do so but I feel desperately sorry for people who encounter these f/wits (sorry not sorry) and who aren’t in a position to pay in full, because these b@st@rds will just keep adding and adding ridiculous charges with impunity. I will definitely be seeking a refund first thing Monday morning, but please people out there - don’t let these thugs intimidate you! There are legitimate services out there to support people in financial difficulty so please don’t allow this pondlife to cause you a moment of anxiety or worry. I apologise for the foul language in this post but I’m afraid only expletives serve to describe the employees (sorry l, shouldn’t generalise, maybe there are some good ones but I can only go by my own experience) of this utterly, utterly, appalling and despicable company.

THIEFS! Nothing but THIEFS! This is how they make their way through their life: Robbing the working class! When you are in lockdown and you finally make it back home, you are being robbed, in the middle of the street, in broad daylight (without even being informed in advance)

Equita are unscrupulous. Received letter Wednesday £73 for parking ticket. Sunday during coronavirus 2 bully bailiffs turn up at my door. £235 added to bill now want £308!

I’m a big male so they swiftly left but I can imagine how they distress more vulnerable people.

Please remember your rights:

1. You do not have to engage with them they are not high court enforcement - email the office.

2. Never let them in. They cannot take any goods if they are allowed in your home. They can take things outside.

3. See point 1 do not even speak to them.

The company has been trying to enforce a PCN while being fully aware there was no way the alleged debtor could ever have knowledge of the alleged violation, and using intimidation tactics in doing so.

Worst experience of my life, I had experience with them 4 years ago.

I received a penalty charge last year which was passed to equita and I received the possibility to make monthly payments to pay this fine - total of £278 in March 2020.
Unfortunately I did not realized that was missing £10 to pay and after several months, without any letters/calls an enforcement agent came to my house to charge this amount plus the cost of his visit £235. This is unbelievable, from £10 goes up to £245? How come?
When I tried to explain this situation on the phone, the people who answered was rude and shout with me on the phone. Everyone was effected by this crisis and I am a self-employed, I had to pay dozens of PNC last year and I never failled one, I feel like this is a way for you to make money with the disgrace of the others. Honestely why the enforcement agent came to my house? For £10? I could have pay this over the phone, in fact no one chased me for that. I was forced to pay the amount for not to increase more but I wish for this to be revised...
