Incomplete account set up

Direct Connect was helpful in setting up a connection to an apartment I was moving into but did not pass my existing account information to the Utilities company. As a result, I received a notice of scheduled disconnection, so I ended up having to call the company anyway to provide my billing details and avoid any service disruption.

Double check utility disconnections

Only one of the three utilities from my previous place was disconnected, the other two kept going for a week after I moved out. Fortunately the utility company was willing to disconnect them for me and cancel the extra charges.
My new place also had a gas utility set up for a unit that has no gas appliances, so I had to call and cancel that too.
Other than that it went smoothly.

“Free” service that costs you big time.

Only use if you have no time to set up utilities and don’t care about overpaying. They tried to set me up on a plan owned by the same company they’re owned by (Lumo energy, snowy hydro), and put you on a more expensive plan I can only assume is designed just for this reason. It was easily 10% more expensive than even the cheaper plan by Lumo. Same goes for internet, they do not give you good deals. When the service is free, you are the product.
