Worst service experienced ever. Pre-booked a cab 1 day before in advance at 11 am to airport. The cab driver arrived same day (1 day before) by mistake and shouted at me as I told them I had booked for tomorrow. Called again to re-confirm our booking date and time and it was correct in there system and said the cab driver came by mistake. Next morning (booked date) called them again to re-confirm the cab and they said it is confirmed for 11 am ( flight time 2 pm) will arrive on time. However, they didn’t arrive till 11:45 am. We were very stressed and panicked and called them several time, however they didn’t pickup the phone. So finally we decided to call our friend to drop us to airport. Please avoid this company if you are especially travelling to airport. What a nightmare…….

No stars would be a grace to this shower. Left a minibus of eight 75 year olds stranded at. Weeding Celebration having agreed a booking two days previously for an outward and return journey on the same evening. Ditched us by text message 30 minutes before they were due to collect us. Serious difficulty ensued in us trying to get home. Avoid,avoid and avoid at all costs unless you find being abandoned on a rainy evening some form of pleasure. Will consider legal action now and report to the licensing authority.
They have just replied ( see in the replies section) asking me to phone them Why do they not put into the public domain here their excuse for their abominable behaviour in stranding 8 pensioners by unilaterally cancelling the minibus that was booked for both outward and return journey to a Golden Wedding event? Cowards perhaps?

£58 for an 8 mile journey from airport into Edinburgh taking less than 15 minutes!!!

Driver rude and aggressive, shouting and demanding payment and waking up my neighbours in the middle of the night. No explanation from driver, or booking staff at the airport as to costs/charges and how they calculate fares.

No response from customer service.

If you have any sense please do not follow the signs directing you to this service, total racket. There are cheaper and better alternatives by ordering taxis (black cabs or Uber) into the drop off point and wish I’d known this.

I will be writing to the airport, council, MSP and anyone else that will listen and can maybe do something about customers getting ripped off like this.

Avoid using the Edinburgh Airport taxi service provided by Capital Cars - they seriously over charge fares. My return home was double that charged by my local taxi firm! I'm not sure how they get away with it - Edinburgh Aiport should be ashamed for allowing this to happen.

If I could give zero stars I would. Completely uses, let down on numerous occasion. Thought I’d give them another chance but yet again didn’t turn up

Use anyone else for a taxi service

Booked a car for 9.20am today yesterday to take me to Western General, live in Leith. One car was on its way and then changed to another car. Still nothing at 9.35 so cancelled car and ended up having to drive myself. As I had an operation less than four weeks ago I am not supposed to drive but if I hadn’t I would have missed my appointment. Very disappointed.

Called capital cars to book a taxi for tonight ended up hanging up I'm not leaving a reservation for a taxi on a machine how do I even know if the taxi is booked and it will be there to pick us up on time. Considering I don't have a mobile phone there would be no way of getting confirmation . Apart from that I'm not exactly a fan of technology . I ended up booking a taxi with another company we're you get to talk to a real person.

Booked the taxi last night to get to work this morning. I ordered it to be at my house an hour before I am supposed to start my job. The taxi never came. Got multiple automated phone calls to ask if I want to keep this booking just to have it cancelled by the company an hour after no one coming to get me.
There were several drivers clearly on the map that stood on their spot without moving for the whole hour I waited to get to work. My boss has now cancelled my shift today as I couldn't make it in on time meaning I am loosing out on a days pay.
Steer clear of this company as they are an absolute joke of a cab company!

Disgusting prices, over double the black cab fare.
Was charged over £70 for trip to Central Edinburgh in the afternoon. Taxi driver went a questionable route through all the busy spots. Do this trip regularly and costs 30-35.
Last time I'll ever use this firm. Save yourself the pain and shock and just order an uber!
The fact Edinburgh Airport has awarded this firm the contract says it all about the place.

Will not use this company again got charge £62 and normally most expensive was £42how can this be correct from airport to abbeyhill no road works just usual lights did complain no help at all there taxi now have no meters you can actually see that's a huge increase from now on will get my baggage of belt and call city cabs they don't rip people of

I have just gotten a trip from my address to my daughters school and home again.
I have a mobility condition so a taxi was a must this morning.
It was estimated £12/£14
The taxi cost me £24.30
Absolute disgrace.
I got a cab with them last week and cost me £12.80 I believe.
So why has the price doubled??
I called the company, was put on hold then the call ended.
No help what so ever.
Will never use this taxi service again.

Your taxi service run by Capital Cars which operates exclusively as your sole taxi provider at Edinburgh Airport is a scam.

29 pounds for a 10/15 minute trip is a rip off scam. Sadly, a quick search on google shows that this is what is to be expected from your service. The quoted trip on similarly operated services by prebooking a ride are around 10/15 pounds.

Capital cars drivers purposely lengthen the duration of the trips to scam money of residents and tourists alike. Sadly public transport on early or late flights is quite inconvenient and taxis is the best next alternative.

How drivers lengthen the trip:
1. Issues with the card to let them out of the drop off area… at the expense of the traveller when the system should run smoothly.
2. Drivers traveling well under the speed limit. Furthermore, they do this so the electric power does not disengage allowing for fuel consumption to kick in. Clearly done with the aim to save on petrol money and lengthen the trip at the expense of the client.

I called to book a taxi for immediate pickup from Bonnyrigg to Stockbridge at 2:30pm and was told "within 20 minutes". When I called 35 minutes later to find out if the taxi would be arriving soon I was told the order had been cancelled because no cars had actually been available. Nobody called me to tell me this.

Avoid this company at edinburgh airport they have no shame when it comes to extortion. They charge 4-5 times the cost of any other taxi company. Fare estimate £32-£38 for 4 mile journey in comparison to uber £7.94.

This company is a joke.
Having pre booked transfers to and from Edinburgh airport, receiving confirmation including pick up times, I thought I was set.
Transfer from the airport was slightly confusing as the details of where at the airport they pick you up are very vague. However, once I’d contacted the office and it was explained we were on our way.
Now we come to the return journey.
My flight was at 9am. Pick up, according to their own confirmation was 6.38am, with a 15min waiting time either way. My husband, who has severe mobility issues and I checked out at 6.15am well within the timescale and waited for our transfer to turn up. Nothing. We waited and waited. I decided not to give the company their 15min leeway as time, in our case was of the essence due my husbands disability, so I contacted the office at 6.40am only to be told by the adviser that my pick up was not until 9am! There was nothing for 6.38am.
Trying to explain that I did in fact have 2 lots of confirmation stating 6.38am, that I’m not an idiot and who in their right mind would book a taxi for their flight time just fell on death ears.
‘I’ll send another driver, be with you in 10-15mins’ was the eventual response, well past the so called “15 mins” leeway. Had I have waited there was a good chance we’d miss our flight and as the next one wasn’t for another 4 days, by some luck we were sent a knight in shining armour, a fellow passenger who just happened to hear our conversation and offered for us to share his Uber which was due in within 2 mins. We very kindly accepted as I no longer had any confidence Capital would turn up. 10-15mins into our journey Capital bombarded my phone obviously trying to see where we were. On arrival at the airport, I contacted them and this time spoke to a lovely lady, again explained my situation and despite her sincere apologies and understanding, also confirmed the pick up time was 9am.
She assured me she would pass on my complaint and I would hear from them in due course,
True to her word I have had a couple of conversations with the complaints dept and am absolutely disgusted at their response.
The usual rubbish, we’ve spoken to the persons involved, won’t happen again, yawn and no we are not compensating you what so ever. So tough.
What, not even a small token, a small good will gesture for the stress and inconvenience you caused by not carrying out the service you promised? No nothing!
And if you’re unhappy with the outcome, you can complain to the City licensing dept.
Ok, I will and while I’m at it I’ll review your company on all the sites I can find, good and bad starting with your own. And if it will stop one person from using your diabolical services, that’s good enough for me. If could give no stars, that would be too much so if you wish to use this company, please do so AT YOUR OWN PERIL

Booked a taxi on Sat morning for a trip to Edinburgh airport, the next morning. This was an 8 seater booking for a 3.50am pick-up. At 3.55am no sign of the taxi so checked the app which confirmed that there were no available vehicles and they were searching but with no timescales. At 4am decided to cancel and use an alternative company who arrived within minutes.

If you want to be secure in knowing your taxi/vehicle is going to turn up and have you at the airport in time for your flight, then do not use this company.

Absolute joke of a company now booked a taxi the driver never took it that was nearby after 10 mins use cancelled my booking then rebooked again use let it sit on the booking confimation screen once again for 20 mins before use cancelled it again!!!! ABSOLUTE JOKE

I've used this company before. Very rude who ever mans the phones. Took my details then said not in the jurisdiction. So it's good for one rode but not another. I'm confused! Won't ever use again and I'd recommend anyone to avoid

Check below for response to 12/9/25 msg Had booked a taxi, on wed night 6/11/24, for 2 friends via the capital cars app and realised it was only 5 minutes away. As 1 of them was elderly, they started to get ready. Outside, I saw what I thought was our cab and began to make our way over. By this time it was 10-15 mins later & while this was a capital cars taxi, it had gone to a different cramond address and I had seen our booking, live on GPS, going in the wrong direction (probably to the destination point). Had appealed to the new driver to take our friends (as 1 was in her early 90's and feeling unwell) but this fell on deaf ears and he drove away. At this stage I thought it better to cancel the whole transaction and use the far more professional, attentive & efficient CENTRAL TAXIS ******. Previously used capital cars for over 15 years but their online booking system has been getting steadily less reliable. Will stick with central taxis & city cabs from now on. PLEASE AVOID! PLEASE AVOID! PLEASE AVOID!! Will ignore any standard response, won't use them again. Shame about the company, some of the local drivers are ok
Capital cars response is so moot, as original driver had gone to the wrong address!!

As stated in my original complaint, I had checked the app when I was told the taxi was on its way and could see it driving in the wrong direction. Also, as stated in original complaint, we had all gone outside as taxi was only "5 minutes away". Waited outside for at least 30 mins until CENTRAL TAXIS ***** arrived - but still no sign of mystery capitalcars
