Tony at the Brighton branch was helpful and informative assisting me to buy some walking boots and trousers

I always buy my outdoor gear from Blacks and would recommend them highly

James was very helpful with our purchase of a Berghaus jacket. He went the extra mile for us and we were very impressed with his customer service. We are returning customers as we recently bought walking boots from the store and remembered his help from the first visit.

Purchased walking boots guided by Henry. Could not have been more patient, helpful and informed. First hand experience and knowledge counts for a lot. Will definately make Black's in Btighton my first stop for any related equipment

James was very friendly and helpful when we were looking for a season 3 sleeping bag. We ended up ordering one in store and it was delivered to our home a couple of days later, as promised.

Harry was amazing and took our recent online purchase of a tent that was not suitable and refunded me after discussing why I was returning it. He said to have a look at the catalogue after I asked about online discounts I had been offered and said if I found a tent I liked he was happy to honour a discount so rather than all the research we were going to do that afternoon we found the last one of a discontinued range that was perfect and bought it in store and also a stove/gas/ice packs/kettle which were all at a good price and nice to them in store and not online so we lugged it all home on the bus. Thanks Harry and also Ben who helped at checkout when Harry had to take a call.

We bought walking shoes for my wife and I. Jack’s advice was spot on. He was relaxed and fun so much better than buying online

I took my 14 yr old daughter into Blacks today to get her fitted for a 65L rucksack and 30L rucksack for her expedition to Malaysia. Historically it’s been difficult to fit a rucksack to her petite frame which has resulted in a very sore back during all of her DofE expeditions…HOWEVER JOEL has put an end to back misery!! He spent such a long time selecting the right rucksack for her, not being satisfied until he got the absolute perfect fit!! He then proceeded to pack it full of weights in order to demonstrate how a well fitted rucksack can still feel comfortable even with substantially more weight than she has managed before. His help and advice did not stop there, as he supplied us with a wealth of handy tips that weren’t even on our kit list or advice guide! It was very evident that Joel not only loves the hiking/camping life but has enormous experience in the field and will be our ‘go to’ guy from here in!!! In fact, I wish I hadn’t already bought other things on line, like sleeping bags and ground mats, as I’m sure I would have chosen differently under Joel’s guidance!!

Eloise was absolutely brilliant at finding my daughter some great walking boots. She asked all the right questions and seemed to know exactly what would fit her feet. Very impressed and will be visiting again. Thank you!
