Very unprofessional estate agents

Very unprofessional estate agents. Don't communicate equally with parties in a sale. Refused to carry out viewings, left to home owners to carry out.
Also shared private news about unfortunate local community sales breaking GDPR.
No response to written complaints from individual sale agent or management. Don't respond to written emails with regard update on sale progress.
Definitely will not use again and recommend others seek professional agents.

The tone of your written response speaks volumes, however sadly unsurprising to me. You will receive my full written complaint with evidence in due course. Plus I’m sure the PRD Property redress scheme will agree with my factual feedback of you’re poor service.

What's gone wrong in the last 4 years?

Writing my review here, seeing as Benwell Daykin appear to have locked Google reviews as a company.

Four years ago, we were offered a great service by Ricky when we were looking to rent a property, catering for us to view the property early and keeping us informed along the way.

However, on check-out of this property four year later, neither us or our landlord were kept informed with basic matters, such as when potential viewings were to take place repeatedly over a 4-month period or what to do on check-out, without us having to chase this up.

When challenged on this, Ricky advised me that, "they have no obligation to" and, "that they wouldn't keep us informed as they were doing it on behalf of a landlord and weren't making any money off of it anyway."

I was stunned to learn that Benwell Daykin were so blasé about openly breaching laws protecting tenants and would go as far as to berate our landlord for offering to collect keys to the property they own, having not given them or ourselves any clue on what we needed to do at any time in the 4 months the property was on the market.

I'm disappointed to see how far Benwell Daykin have fallen and feel retraining on both customer services and tenancy law is seriously needed.

Whether you're a tenant or a landlord, this is not a service I would recommend on check-out and, considering first and last impressions are so important, hopefully this review leads to either an improvement in service from Benwell Daykin or deters others from being let down by basic services.

Great communication, Helpful staff!

Bought through Benwell Daykin, I was kept up to date all the way through the process. I asked for thier recommendation on solicitors and they guided me to another local business who were fantastic. The whole team were brilliant!

I just thought I would share my…

I just thought I would share my experiences with potential customers of Benwell Daykin estate agents.
I made a formal cash offer to purchase a property they were marketing using their ‘contact form’ on their website. 7 days later I had no response. Following another email to them asking for an update on my formal offer they eventually responded some 8 days later informing me that the property had been sold subject to contract. I told them I would leave my offer on the table should the sale fall through. Several days later I was informed by a third party that the sale had indeed fallen through. I again sent an email asking for clarification on the status of this property. As of todays date, 08-11-2022 they have failed to respond to my email.
Accordingly, I wonder why this is? Could it be that I do not need a mortgage to finance my purchase? They make it clear they are mortgage brokers and are only too happy to help secure finance for the properties they sell, it is my understanding that commission earned is very generous.
It is my considerable experience of dealing with many estate agents over the years that Benwell Daykin are particularly unresponsive and lack professionalism. They claim, ‘we make things as simple as possible’ in reality, if they cannot even offer basic communications skills to potential customers their competitors will. There is an abundance of highly skilled professional, articulate estate agents in Nottingham, alas, Benwell Daykin Ruddington is not one of them.
The purpose of a business is to create a customer who creates customers, they need to take on board this philosophy.

Thank you for your review and feedback, our company welcomes positive and negative feedback, as this helps to educate and improve the level of service we offer and our staffs skill sets.

You are correct in the sense that you contacted our agency and did not receive a response for seven days and had to send a second email before you received a response. However, what you fail to mention is that in the response you received, you were informed that your original email had in fact been flagged by our spam filter.

When you emailed the same member of staff again asking if the sale had fallen through that member of staff was in fact on annual leave, did you not think to call the office if you did not receive a response?

Our client was made aware of your 'formal' offer however, you have never provided a contact number for yourself, registered as a buyer with our company or provided the necessary documentation in order for your offer to be qualified.

You subsequently emailed the same member of our team on the 28/10/2022 asking for our companies complaints procedure, which they provided to you within twenty minutes.

Despite asking for our complaints procedure, at the time of writing this response you haven't raised a complaint with our company or followed our complaints procedure, preferring to leave this review instead.

To clarify, Benwell Daykin are not mortgage brokers, we are estate agents and do not have the necessary qualifications to provide mortgage advise. We do however, have an inhouse mortgage broker who is qualified to provide you with financial advise.

Whether your offer is cash or mortgage is irrelevant to our agency, it is the property owner who accepts or rejects the offer.

Rude and unprofessional staff

Rude and unprofessional staff. I've never worked with a company that think they are doing you a favour when you are paying them, it's absurd. Rarely leave reviews but this was a truly shocking experience- explains why their office is always dead

Really helpful with the whole process…

Really helpful with the whole process of our second view of the new house with Nicola, she is so professional and informative. As we were first time buyers and didn't know what to expect, overall a good experience. We highly recommend BenwellDaykin & their team.

Can't thank Ricky enough for all of his help securing us a new property especially in these tricky times we are in!!!

It has been great to deal with honest and reliable agency for once! Keeping us upto date throughout and actually contacting us still since we have moved in to ensure everything has gone well.

Would highly recommend and defiently go through Benwell Daykin in the future!

Amazing company, very friendly & professional!

Amazing company!!!

We could not recommend these guys enough!!! Absolutely brilliant company that continuously went that extra mile, even making contact out of business hours on occasion too! It’s such a huge decision renting your family home and it was a weight lifted dealing with Nick & Ricky! They may be a newly established business but their combined years of experience shines through, I’ve dealt with many letting agencies over the years and these guys are the best we’ve used!!

Really slow to get back to me and were…

Really slow to get back to me and were quite rude in the end. They also don't work past 5.30pm so how is anyone with a job going to view a house. Not a good service so I will be avoiding at all costs.

1. I have had lots of house viewings with various estate agents past 5.30 pm, so saying "this is general closing time in the Estate and Lettings industry" is just not true.

2. I don't know a single person who would take time out of work to view a house and many of my friends are currently looking and have not taken time out to view a house during work hours. They like me, just view after 5.30pm

3. The response within 1 working hour is just not true. I was told on Monday at 16:02 that someone would get back to me. I then emailed on Friday at 15:31 and then only received an email on the following Monday. So that is 7 days I had to wait. So definitely not 1 working hour.

Hi James, i'm sorry to see that you felt the need to leave a one start review based on the fact that our office closes at 5.30pm, this is general closing time in the Estate and Lettings industry.
We would always recommend that somebody view a property during daylight hours and the majority of people will take time out of their working week to view a property during working hours.

Our records indicate that only one applicant by the name of James has been in touch to view a property with our agency and their query was responded to within one working hour, unfortunately as this was over the weekend it may have seemed a long time frame.
