I buy a magazine subscription as a gift to my daughter - and Bauer Media could not be less helpful. They have changed the terms and frequency without any notification and renew without second thoughts. I even wrote directly to their CEO, Paul Keenan. He ignored me. Think twice about dealing with these people!

My renewal payment was taken before the last issue of my magazine was despatched. All I get is a standard response that the contract states the annual subscription is taken upon despatch of the last issue. Mine was taken 3 weeks before and 1 month before last year. No refund will be issued. Avoid this company.

I have been trying to cancel my subscription to Bauer for ages...I've just checked on Paypal and to be fair it is showing as inactive but I have a horrible feeling they will still try to take £34.50 from my account on March 17th. So I will watch it like a hawk and a little nearer the time I will ring my bank and see if they can help but as it's on my debit card I don't know if there's very much they can do. It's known as a rolling subscription and they can be notoriously difficult to get out of. Bauer have got it all stitched up mega tightly. Very clever but you have to persevere with nasty oufits like them! I will update you all.

How has this company got so many stars when every review is bad?
They have now taken my money and won't respond with anything to help me and no magazine either. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Wish I had read the reviews prior to ordering

Absolutely awful company. Paid a subscription for a TV magazine over a month ago, gave all my bank details for a monthly Direct Debit,and they couldn't even be bothered to start up a postal delivery. Tried to get in touch with them twice by email, and they didn't even have the courtesy to reply.I,ve looked through all the magazines they distribute,and for sure won't even purchase one of them off the shelf.

I think the reviews here say it all. I have subscribed to both Practical Classics and Car Mechanics magazines for years and over the last 13 months or so the service has fallen off a cliff. Either the magazine does not turn up at all (about 50% of the time) or it is over a month late (the other 50%). In the last 13 months there has not been a month when there hasn't been a problem. I write to Bauer on a monthly basis to ask where my magazines are and no-one at Bauer has been able to tell me why the service has gone down the toilet. Instead of getting my beloved magazines each month I have to go through the blood pressure raising process of emailing Bauer only to get 'sorry' but no explanation and the same again next month. After over a year of the worst service you could imagine I cancelled the subscriptions to both magazines, which broke my heart, as I love the magazines but just cannot bear the service. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE just pick them up at your newsagents.

Golf World Magazine published by Bauer Media Group, used to be such a great magazine. Sadly its completely out of synch - reporting the major golf tournaments long after the tournaments have been played. They also have a slime ball approach of conning people who subscribe to the magazine. If you take out a subscription, for yourself or a present for a friend or family member, you need to cancel it when you take it out, otherwise they will continue to take money out of your account the following year, without any warning and no refund.
