No one expects businesses to get it…

No one expects businesses to get it right all the time, however, my recent experience seemed to have been entirely avoidable.

Once I'd made my displeasure known formally, Sarah took matters in-hand, and provided an acceptable resolution very swiftly.

Scammers! Thieves! Imbeciles! Criminals!

This company run competitions that are NOT LEGAL!

They run ads on KissUK and Kisstory that have you send texts containing the word "WIN" to a 5 digit number that takes £2 from your phone account.

I entered some 5 times, plus many more online, and not once were my entries even.. well... entered... I believe that this company is running a scam, and are making massive profits from it.

I believe that it is running a "fake competition" complete with fake winners.

The company tried to scare me in to silence using its "legal" imbeciles, but has failed, and is the reason I have written this post to warn others of the scam.

So far, they have refused to return the money they scammed from me (which is my attempt to give them the benefit of the doubt. Suffice to say, I wont be entering thier scam again.

I have reported them to Ofcom, will be filing a complaint to the police in due course and will look at legal action against them for fraud, unjust enrichment and fraud by false representation.

Hattie Pearson (if this is her real name), is unknowingly a part of this scam.

I have had email communication with them for around a week and they repeately tried to intimidate me with emails from "legal@**********.co.uk" which will fail. £2 per entry is a real money spinner... they must make millions a day!

Disgusting!

Bauer/Planet Radio no more

No more free online entries for competitions!? Not happy at all. Doesn't that breach competition laws? Seems there is no end to the greed of these big media companys. No more listening from me.

I took out a 3 month trial at £0.99 a…

I took out a 3 month trial at £0.99 a month for the Classic car magazine. I was immediately billed £0.99 for the first month but then £3.99 for the 2nd and 3rd (normal issue price). The only way to cancel the subscription is to email them to request that but when I did, they state that it's in their Terms and Conditions that I had to have a 12 month subscription before I could cancel! That is not what is says in their T&C's. I'm raising a complaint with Trading Standards and as their financial processes fall under the control of the FCA, also with them. I hope to be able to get these robbing cowboys closed down for good.

Terrible company to deal with!!

Terrible company to deal with!!! As part of our Club Lloyd's account we chose a free monthly magazine. This was OK until our magazine ceased being published. We were sent a letter from BAUER with a customer number & a voucher code to select a new magazine. The customer number was not recognised and the voucher didn't work. I rang Bauer and was given instructions from a foreign women
which were TOTALLY UNDESIPHERABLE.....NOT HELPFUL!!!!!!

Magic Radio listener no more!!

Have been a Magic Radio listener for years.
Now I get endless prompts to login, upgrade to Premium and the final straws are the endless 404 error messages or constant spinning without loading a page.
The numpties are in charge.

Time Wasters

The company approached us with a proposal to promote our business via their Planet Offers website. After they spoke with us on the phone (they cold called us) they emailed a proposal.

After agreeing to their offer and sending over relevant information requested we were told a few days later that our services wouldn’t sell on there website and they wouldn’t run the promotion.

Why waste our time and their own time putting together a proposal they can’t deliver?

Looking at the website they are a group on / living social style voucher scheme that’s mainly looking for big corporations. If you are a small business avoid.

No magazines (classiccars) for months

No magazines (classiccars) for months! I've given up, and it appears that Bauer Media has as well, as no one takes action other than offering digital solutions, extending subscription period, etc. However their email service with offers to extend the subscription works flawlessly.

If I could give this company zero stars…

If I could give this company zero stars I would. I paid for print magazines (hundreds of dollars) but they either arrived months late, arrived after numerous complaints and were shipped again, or just didn't arrive at all. I was then told to "read them digitally". Aaaah no - I paid for print for a reason. Any 'customer service' I got was just a cut and paste response. They refused to cancel my subscription despite me not receiving the goods. Never, ever get a Bauer subscription.

Goodbye Empire, goodbye Bauer Media

I’ve had an Empire magazine subscription from Bauer for years without much trouble. Even before that I’d read it from the beginning, some 30 years. My subscription was from an anniversary deal and worked out at £2.60 per issue. When I had my credit card replaced, I never thought to advise them there was a new number. Consequently they stopped sending me magazines without even advising me there was a problem. They now want £4.30per issue from me. I pay for Netflix the same way. They don’t seem to have a problem. Got through to customer service eventually, absolutely no help whatsoever. Goodbye Empire, it’s been a blast.

Appalling/non existent customer…

Appalling/non existent customer service. They are taking twice for my radio station membership from my bank account, yet there is no way to contact them - the phone number just goes to answer phone. Please allow me to rate this company zero stars Trustpilot

2022 and they can't make an app

Took my money and then I wasted over an hour trying to find out how to download the app. When I eventually found it I couldn't get it to work. 5 days later they sent me log in details that didn't work. After some emails I tried again and still didn't work.

Never have I been more annoyed trying to download a simple app. This is 2022 this is not good enough at all. I don't want anything to do with empire any more. You've lost a customer who spends a lot of money.

Spam + usless app

They will carpet-bomb you with spam via all available channels and the digital subscriptions are worthless as the app doesn't work. They don't listen.

Best advice is to avoid them altogether.

Treat their customers with contempt

Totally agree what Luke Mears said.
"Disgusting “small print” reoccurring subscription trick and point blank refused to cancel it after the “renewal” date, I will never buy another product from them again."

I've just had the same problem and like Luke I will never use this company again.

They were perfectly happy to cancel my subscription but even though at that point I had received no goods from them they refused to give me a refund.

Customer relations with company suck, they have no intention of showing any good will to their customers.

Unauthorised direct debit took out…

Unauthorised direct debit took out £4.80 from my bank (NatWest) fingers crossed will get money back. Cancelled the direct debit in hope of no more payments taken. Don’t get how as I’ve never heard of the company so not sure how they’ve managed to set it up without permission. Beware!

Another report of an unauthorised direct debit

Bauer Media Group set up a unauthorised direct debit of £4.00 to Kirkby Microwave Ltd on 3rd September 2021. Our bank, RBS, refunded us quickly.

This was reported to the police via the Actionfaud website. The police wrote to say "We have reviewed your case and have not been able to identify a viable line of enquiry"

The police are considering investigating a party at 10 Downing Street that took place more than a year ago, but can't identify a viable line of inquiry with Bauer Media Group, who are stealing from lots of companies. There are LOTS of reports on Trustpilot of unauthorised direct debits set up to companies. Someone else reported an unauthorised direct debit on 16th December 2021 to a charity!

Who is worst, Bauer Media Group or the police? You decide.
