We understand the events that occurred earlier this year were very unexpected and we are terribly sorry if they impacted you in any manner. To provide a bit more information, Alltrue has been assumed under new ownership, but the brand our customers love isn’t going anywhere. Though exciting, this change in ownership was not anticipated. After a financially challenging spring, Alltrue filed for a voluntary bankruptcy alternative called an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (“ABC”) in April. This resulted in a complete halt in business while a 3rd party trustee assumed responsibility of the company, and was tasked with selling the assets in order to create the best possible outcome for its creditors to pay off debts owed, with the purpose of distributing the proceeds to pay off any existing debts. This past summer, Alltrue was purchased and is now in the hands of new ownership (that’s us!). It is important to note that all funds that were paid to the trustee to purchase Alltrue are being used to pay off debts owed from the previous ownership.

Due to the size of the financial liabilities from the prior business, the only customers whose previous orders the new ownership were able to assume and ship were for customers who had active membership plans which were set to renew at the time of the acquisition, and whose billing information was able to be transferred. All customers who had a membership with the previous owners received an email over the summer with the specifics of their account. This email also provided information in regards to the shutdown and how to receive any funds which may have been owed to them by the previous ownership. The liabilities incurred prior to the Assignment and subsequent acquisition are being administered by the Assignee and the Buyer does not have any role in overseeing or managing the claims process to address these liabilities. If you were one of the members unable to be retained, we recommend pursuing a chargeback with your financial institution or to pursue a claim as a creditor in the ABC. If you need a copy of this email, or a link to the general assignment, please be sure to reach out to our Community Support team.

We’re in awe of what Alltrue had been able to accomplish over the past 8 years, creating an incredible and engaged community, fostering meaningful partnerships with small businesses, artisan groups, and artists, and having made a tangible impact through fair wages, charitable giving, carbon offsets, and education. We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to give the mission a second chance, reviving Alltrue as a change-maker and trustworthy source of discovery and education for members and a supportive partner to those Alltrue seeks to empower.

Ripped off loyal customers

After being a loyal customer for four years, they ripped me off. I prepaid for an annual subscription (it was auto-renewed). They then cancelled my membership and kept the money. I tried emailing to get everything worked out, and they took over a month to respond with a canned response they sent to everyone. They ripped off a lot if people and used a change in ownership to excuse it. There was no attempt to make things right with the people whose accounts were cancelled before they receivers all the boxes they paid for first. Steer clear, they are not to be trusted.

Company is All Untrue

I was a member for a year and enjoyed the products I had received. Then, they charged me $236 for another year and went bankrupt shortly thereafter. I received an email 6 months after I made the payment saying they cancelled my subscription and a code for $30 off. They took nearly $240 of my money with no resolution! I am a single Mom and this was my special treat to myself.

Don’t buy it’s a scam

This company has taken money from so many people. I pre-paid for a box from the spring and it was never sent plus the summer box. The stuff is mediocre at best and they refuse to answer all the customers who haven’t gotten their money back or the products.

Awful

Awful! My spring box was paid for and it was never shipped. They are expecting customers to file claims for money back themselves. This would have been totally avoid if they honored all the refunds or boxes that were owed to their existing customers. How is this legal?!

Hi Leonard,

We would like to apologize for any delayed response to you and our Members during the course of Alltrue filing for bankruptcy. This lack of action was not intentional by any means, but legally required of us during this transition. The change in ownership was not anticipated in any shape or form, and was a big shock and change for everyone working at the company.

Due to the size of the financial liabilities from the prior business, the only customers whose previous orders the new ownership were able to assume and ship were for customers who had active membership plans which were set to renew at the time of the acquisition, and whose billing information was able to be transferred. We hope to better serve you as a Member, and address any issues or concerns you may have.

Run don't walk

Scammed their vendors and customers. New management is also not reimbursing those who paid for goods without receiving them. Awful.

**UPDATE** In light of Alltrue's long winded rebuttal to my review :

That's a lot of words for.. We ReFusE tO TaKe ReSpOnSiBiLitY. Let me ask this - If all the products have been paid for, as you've stated - then why are the vendors still claiming they have have never received payment? Are you actually suggesting that the many Alltrue vendors are ALL lying? Interesting approach.
And you have to love the empty "solution" they are offering .. simply "get a chargeback" from my bank - when it is farrr past the time limit for that and they KNOW it - especially annual customers, like myself, who paid well in advance for these goods.
Lastly, saying that customers were provided with information and links etc to get this situation solved, is a blatant lie. Customers couldn't even get a simple response to concerned emails and social media DMs for months on end, not to mention any helpful information on how to remedy the situation.
What a joke this company is.. new management included, clearly. Better keep scamming your way into some good reviews - you're going to need it.

Hi Kayla,

We understand the events that occurred earlier this year were very unexpected and we are terribly sorry if they impacted you in any manner.

I should be sure to confirm that all of the products included in Alltrue’s boxes have been paid for. To provide further clarity, after a financially challenging spring, Alltrue was pushed to an unexpected financial breaking point and filed for a bankruptcy alternative called an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors. This resulted in a complete halt and shut down of the business while a 3rd party trustee assumed responsibility of the company. When Alltrue declared ABC, some of the partners from the Spring Box and Spring Market were mid-contract. Because business was put to an immediate stop, some contracts were not paid in full. It was the 3rd party trustee’s job, however, to sell Alltrue’s assets for the maximum available value to distribute the proceeds to creditors to repay debts. Over the summer, Alltrue, including all inventory, was purchased by the current owners. The trustee is now responsible for overseeing the payment to creditors with the proceeds of the sale, in accordance with California common law

Additionally, the new ownership and the Alltrue team absolutely wants to do what we can to help fill in, where the business entity previously left off, in its dealings with these many beloved box partners. The new ownership has been in touch with past vendors and are working on many paths forward.
If you were one of the members unable to be retained, we recommend pursuing a chargeback with your financial institution or to pursue a claim as a creditor in the ABC.

It sounds as though you have previously been provided with a link to the assignment and claim form, but if not, or should you have any other questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email our support team at help@alltrue.com. We would love to help.

If I could give zero stars to this…

If I could give zero stars to this company I would. They severely lack in communication. I wouldn't know when a box was "open for customization." The boxes were always about a month late. When I'd order something from them the shipping would be around 2 months.

Then, when I discovered that this company was basically secretly filing for bankruptcy they didn't let any of the subscribers know that anything was going on. Instead they acted as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening. Then I didn't get my subscription box. About 6 months later, I get an email about a new box coming, but I haven't even received any of the previous boxes.

So, basically they took my money for the annual subscription, then only delivered only 2 of the 4 boxes, did not communicate anything about why no boxes were being delivered, then sent me an email to resubscribe to get the new box.

This is the ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE I have ever had with any company. As of today they have committed theft.

You can't even leave them a review on Google, so I'm leaving one here to hopefully save any other customers from becoming victims.

BEWARE! AVOID!

Hi Terri,

We are so sorry to hear that you experienced communication issues with us. We always try to rectify any problems members may be experiencing, including customization. Members who have, or continue to write in to us regarding customization issues, are frequently resolved by re-subscribing via email, and/ or provided with the correct items they wanted per their seasonal box. All new members and existing members who pre-order their seasonal boxes will be reserved, and typically shipped during the first two months of each season (Spring - March/April, Summer - June/July, Fall - September/October, and Winter - December/January).

We understand the events that occurred earlier this year were very unexpected, and we are terribly sorry they affected you in the fact you did not receive two of your seasonal boxes. We also would like to apologize for any delayed response to you, which of course was not intentional by any means but legally required. As any orders or funds owed to you, are owed by the previous business, and we do not have access to the funds provided to the previous merchant, you should have been able to receive your funds by requesting a chargeback directly with the credit card or banking institution the payment was made. If, for any reason, your financial institution is not returning the funds after explaining what occurred, you may have an alternative which is to pursue a claim as a creditor in the ABC.

It sounds as though you have previously been provided with a link to the assignment and claim form, but if not, or should you have any other questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email our support team at help@alltrue.com. We would love to help.

I paid for an annual subscription…

I paid for an annual subscription ($199) last year and continually had issues with shipping on time (late). They were horrible w Comm. Then I tell them to cancel my recurring membership so they CANCEL the box I already customized, paid for and ordered months before w annual payment. They send me email after months of trying to get a reply telling me to go directly to PayPal. PayPal refused to refund because it’s over 180 days (annual subscription). Credit card company says the same. At the very least, Alltrue should send a complimentary box.

I just found out today that they are in bankruptcy.
I read that there was no customization but you would not receive any previous items…not true! I got duplicate items and mostly items no one wanted on the first go around.
No way to contact them. Then I realize my subscription just renewed! In bankruptcy and still taking customers money!

Avoid at all costs

Years ago when this company was branded as Causebox it was a really great subscription box. Since the rebranding it has become an absolute disaster to the point of being a scam. Shipments going out 6 months late or not at all, apparently they haven't been paying their suppliers either. Do not give them a dime of your money, they owe all old subscribers boxes but declared bankruptcy, and when coming out of bankruptcy gave us all the option to repurchase the boxes we already paid for "at a small discount" despite that we all already paid for them. Total scam and you will not get what you paid for, and due to long turnaround times you will likely pass the deadline to request a refund from your bank as well

Alltrue fiasco

Alltrue (formerly Causebox, and now not yet in their final form) used to deliver on their promises, and I enjoyed the curation of their goods. I was an annual member for a couple of years, but like so many other people, I will not have the remaining two boxes on my membership credited. I renewed in December when they offered a special rate, and I should have known not to take the bait…

Unethical company

Like many other reviews here, I did not receive my final box of my previous subscription. I also had renewed my subscription for another year. I am out over $250 and 5 boxed of products. I cannot get a refund from PayPal because the transaction was over 180 days ago. Alltrue says there is nothing they can do. Yes there is! Honor subscriptions or give a refund!

The seller sent an email on August 12th…

The seller sent an email on August 12th stating they are bankrupted, another company has taken over and advised me to send a refund from paypal. They charged me for a full year on 11/24/21 218.79, for 4 boxes on 2022. Then charged me again on 2/22/22, which I did not see until I started looking for my spring box. The second charge was clear fraud, they knew they were bankrupted. They owe me 437.58

Hoo Boy...

I think the worst part about Alltrue is that they send emails saying your box has shipped when it HASN'T shipped!

I received an email saying my box was shipped on March.31, 2022 and I still haven't received it as of August.16, 2022. On top of that, the tracking just says: "shipping information received" which means Alltrue didn't even send my package to the courier. Ridiculous!

AllLies should be the name of this…

AllLies should be the name of this company. Be very weary of them. Small businesses are out millions and consumers are out of money with no product. Now they are miraculously trying to make a comeback by selling stolen product that has not been paid for. They clearly do not stand behind their mission by the actions they take and how they operate as a business. SCAMMMMMM!!!!

Back in business but a bigger scam than ever!

They are back in business but refuse to send the 2 boxes they owe me because I removed my credit card information. They advised e to file a chargeback with my credit card but it is past the 90 days since I made payment so not refund for me. It appears they haven’t paid the small business vendors they “purchased” from either. This company was supposed to be ethical but I guess they don’t know what that word means. I would discourage anyone from making a purchase from them as they have failed the majority of their customers and vendors. Please do not do business with this sham of a company. There are far better subscription boxes out there!

Poor business ethics

Agree with the other users and had a bad experience myself. I paid in Nov for the annual membership and they stopped responding in April because they filed for bankruptcy. The new owners later sent an email in July saying they will not be honoring any previously paid orders and to get a refund through the bank but it's out of the timeframe to file for a dispute with the bank.
Why would anyone pay again to get the same subscription box that they already paid for? This is just bad business ethics.

A COMPLETE AND UTTER SCAM!!

A COMPLETE AND UTTER SCAM!!

I spent over $100 back in October and NEVER RECEIVED MY ORDER. I've been emailing them for months and only now in JULY do they bother to get back to me. They claim they went bankrupt and cannot fulfill any order made before April, or OFFER A REFUND. They recommended asking my visa provider for a chargeback, but since it's been OVER 90 DAYS since the purchase, I will not get back any of the money they STOLE FROM ME.

Learn from my mistake and DO NOT TRUST THESE FRAUDSTERS WITH YOUR MONEY!!!
