Allfake should be their name

We are a small business that sent them product for their add-on market during the spring. Alltrue was supposed to pay us for the cost of the product in exchange for "free advertising" on their website and social media. Come to find out, their company collected all of this product (and more from hundreds of brands) and then filed for bankruptcy, so we never got paid. We contacted them and they literally said "There is nothing we can do. We are under new ownership". So.....they sold OUR product to their customers, made the profit, and then never paid us. It really hurts our small business financially, as we make high-quality, sustainable products and I dont feel it's fair that they are even still in business. It's a scam.

Hi Sarah,

The new ownership and the Alltrue team absolutely want to do what we can to help fill in, where the business entity previously left off, in its dealings with many beloved box partners.

To provide a bit more information, Alltrue was recently acquired by new ownership after this past April Alltrue was pushed to a sudden and very unexpected financial breaking point and filed for a bankruptcy alternative called an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (an “ABC”). At the time the ABC was declared, the assets of Alltrue were transferred to a 3rd party trustee, responsible for selling those assets for the maximum available value and distributing the proceeds to creditors to repay debts.

When Alltrue was purchased, the funds from the sale were made from the new ownership group to the 3rd party trustee. The trustee is now responsible for overseeing the payment to creditors, to pay off debts owed from the previous business. While the buyer does not have any role in overseeing or managing the claims process, please note the proceeds from that sale are held by the third party trustee who is now responsible for managing the distribution of payments to creditors, in accordance with California common law.

It sounds as though you have previously been provided with a link to the assignment and claim form, but if not, or should you have any other questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email our support team at help@alltrue.com. We would love to help.

Good customer service!

This company has had a rough go in the last year - significant supply chain issues, shutting down, unable to communicate with customers while in legal limbo, re-opening with new owners. I didn't get my subscription box during that transition, but I did get some great customer service once they were up and running again. Replied to my email within a day, helpful answer, and an opportunity to shop in their quarterly online market even though I am no longer a member. I know some people lost money but hopefully theyll find a way to move on - this company is staffed by real people who try hard and are kind. I didn't give five stars because I didn't get that last subscription box and I was really looking forward to it, but I would subscribe to this box again for sure. I like what the company stands for. Thanks Alltrue!

Fall Alltrue box a winner!

I was a Causebox subscriber, which has transitioned to Alltrue. The transition hasn't been entirely easy. But, the latest fall box is a winner in my book! I love everything that was included in it, from the red Swell water bottle, the 4-in-1 make-up brush and the wooden serving plate, to the ceramic candle, travel pillowcase, and skin nutrition balm. I will use all these products with pleasure!

Disappointed again

I have to say that I have been a subscriber for a number of years. I always let causebox/alltrue do the choosing of products for me. Lately I've been feeling like an afterthought. Seems to me that they pack the least wanted items in my box...the left-overs. Does anyone else feel this way?

We understand the events that occurred earlier this year were very unexpected and we are terribly sorry if they impacted you in any manner. To provide a bit more information, Alltrue has been assumed under new ownership, but the brand our customers love isn’t going anywhere. Though exciting, this change in ownership was not anticipated. After a financially challenging spring, Alltrue filed for a voluntary bankruptcy alternative called an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (“ABC”) in April. This resulted in a complete halt in business while a 3rd party trustee assumed responsibility of the company, and was tasked with selling the assets in order to create the best possible outcome for its creditors to pay off debts owed, with the purpose of distributing the proceeds to pay off any existing debts. This past summer, Alltrue was purchased and is now in the hands of new ownership (that’s us!). It is important to note that all funds that were paid to the trustee to purchase Alltrue are being used to pay off debts owed from the previous ownership.

Due to the size of the financial liabilities from the prior business, the only customers whose previous orders the new ownership were able to assume and ship were for customers who had active membership plans which were set to renew at the time of the acquisition, and whose billing information was able to be transferred. All customers who had a membership with the previous owners received an email over the summer with the specifics of their account. This email also provided information in regards to the shutdown and how to receive any funds which may have been owed to them by the previous ownership. The liabilities incurred prior to the Assignment and subsequent acquisition are being administered by the Assignee and the Buyer does not have any role in overseeing or managing the claims process to address these liabilities. If you were one of the members unable to be retained, we recommend pursuing a chargeback with your financial institution or to pursue a claim as a creditor in the ABC. If you need a copy of this email, or a link to the general assignment, please be sure to reach out to our Community Support team.

We’re in awe of what Alltrue had been able to accomplish over the past 8 years, creating an incredible and engaged community, fostering meaningful partnerships with small businesses, artisan groups, and artists, and having made a tangible impact through fair wages, charitable giving, carbon offsets, and education. We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to give the mission a second chance, reviving Alltrue as a change-maker and trustworthy source of discovery and education for members and a supportive partner to those Alltrue seeks to empower.

They sold the company and bounced with my money

I purchased the Spring box in March and by July I had an email from them saying they'd sold the company. I emailed them and asked where my order was and they sent me an email NEARLY 2 MONTHS LATER to tell me that they couldn't send the order or issue a refund and I'd have to file a claim with my bank or paypal. Of course I couldn't do that because too much time had passed, but I tried anyway. Anddddd nothing. Couldn't get my money back. So I had to file a claim with some third party company that straight up says they might not pay me either.
The company had the gall to give me a $30 off coupon for a box in leu of my order or my money (64.75) as if I'd ever want to deal with them again.
Don't bother with them if they can't even be bothered to fix the mistakes THEY created.

Do not be fooled...

I was a member for two years. All the of the sudden, they cancelled my subscription and kept my money. They took forever to answer my emails (5 months). Eventually, they said they were sorry but could not help me. They kept $174 of my money and refuse to give it back or even give me a credit so I could get some products. It has been a very upsetting and frustrating experience. Do not be fooled like me. They do not care about you, all they want is your money...scam.

Alltrue Hasn't Proven Trustworthy

Alltrue (Causebox) used to provide an excellent service, at least for the 1.5 years of the 2 recent years I was a customer. The boxes were well curated, the add-on options were excellent, and the boxes arrived in a timely fashion. It felt almost too good to be true, and I now think it was. Towards the beginning of 2022, Alltrue was silently shutting their doors, all while continuing to charge me for an add-on product that would never arrive at my door. I was able to recoup that payment via a chargeback, but since my annual membership was paid for in May 2021, I wasn't able to recoup the charge for my missing Spring 2022 box.

Post closing down earlier this year, Alltrue is now under new ownership and is operating as a business again. I reached out this past week to see if I would finally be able to receive my fourth box of the annual membership I paid for. They unfortunately won't recognize any memberships paid for and cancelled prior to the ownership change. I had cancelled my membership within a week of the renewal date to prevent any further charges to my card by a company that was going out of business. It is clear that I am owed an additional box or compensation for my missing box given what I paid for with my annual membership, but they instead provided me with promo codes which won't cover the cost of what I've already lost to Alltrue. The additional kicker is that giving me promo codes is asking me to give Alltrue more money in an attempt to recover money I've already lost. That feels like a tall order from a company who has shown me no evidence of deserving my trust as a consumer this past year. Being under new ownership is not sufficient for me to trust a company that has otherwise acted so unethically recently. This is especially true because I don't know how Alltrue will operate under new ownership––It could be better...or it could be worse. If you're new to Alltrue, I highly recommend avoiding this company and not giving them any of your money, at least until it's a proven business again. I however will not be giving them my business ever again.

I paid for a year but only received one box. They went into receivership and whoever started it back up is only honouring some of the subscriptions. They give you directions on how to get a refund from your credit card or PayPal, however, it was too late when I found out.

This Box is now a Complete Scam

This used to be a great subscription box, but then all of a sudden they got purchased and ran out of money so they cancelled all existing subscriptions with no refund. They don't seem to have ANY customer service to speak of, so if you're one of the subscribers they scammed, there's not really anything you can do. It's painful how much they talk about ethics and sustainability of their products and yet this is how they treat customers. I recommended this box to other people, and now I feel like an idiot. They took my money and gave me nothing, not even an apology. Absolutely do not give them money, you can't ever know if you'll get what you paid for or if they'll run into trouble and just cut you loose. Still trying to get a refund, but they're impossible to get in touch with, so I'm not hopeful.

DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS!!!

Former annual subscriber. I was forgiving of their slow shipping, unaware that whilst I awaited my spring box the company had filed for bankruptcy & was quietly being sold off. By the time the news broke I was beyond the 180 days in which to claim a refund from my credit card provider leaving me out of pocket for an entire annual subscription having received zero out of four boxes. There is NOTHING ethical about the way the previous owners of this business sneakily filed for bankruptcy or the way the new owners delayed transparency until it was way beyond the 180 days refund window for many.

Such a scam

Such a scam - changed owners and the new folks sold the product from the existing orders. Stole over $400 dollars from me. No communication, too late to claim against credit card. Do not order anything - you may not receive it.

And the response is useless. They still have over 400 dollars worth of items that have not been sent or refunded. I was told too late to claim it on my credit card. If I am refunded I will change my mind. It is their responsibility to make things right. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

Horrible company

Horrible company. I lost $150+ in items I ordered from this company when they transferred ownership. The company did not honor their orders and gave no refunds. Not sure how it's even legal.
