Very helpful staff, easy to set up

Reliable storage place with very helpful and polite employees, prices are a bit expensive but your things are insured and protected!

Access Self Storage have the best prices for storage units that I've found in Birmingham. The move-in process was quick and friendly staff were able to help me with any questions that I had. The facilities are secure and have CCTV inside and outside, which gives me peace of mind that my belongings are safe there.

After 2 months of staying here, the rent of the unit went up slightly. I had called to ask why; it’s part of their T&Cs but if I’d like to discuss keeping the rent down I should email, the email given which goes to the store manager. I did this and got no response.

When it came to the day of the increase, I called up and spoke to the store manager. He told me he didn’t receive and couldn’t see it -_- . What a coincidence. By the way, this store manager is an absolute condescending snob, FYI. He couldn’t help me regardless, told me that what I was paying was significantly less than the new current rate. How does that even make sense? Nonetheless, I took it the chin and still proceeded to store my items.

Another 2 months later, basically by the 4th month, the rent went up again more that double what it was last time. This was final straw, I called up again and was told to email again if price is the issue, that they’re unbeatable on price and didn’t even bother because I knew it would be the same nonsense story again. I then handed in my notice to leave the unit before the end of the month because there was no way I was going to pay that increase or stay.

During, this time I managed to find another unit @ Big Yellow which is a 10minute drive away. The unit is an extra 5m2 than what I had here, the price is much less than what I was paying up until the time I left & the price is fixed for 6months - if it does go up after then it’s ever so slight plus 24 hours access too.

When I was checking out, I was a day late because I was stranded the day before, I informed them of this and they told me it was fine no problem. I came in the next day, and there’s a red lock on my door 😂😭. I go downstairs and they said to me I’m overdue, that I need to pay £24 (for 1 day) or the full months ahead rent and they will refund me the balance despite me not being told the day before this was the case. I’m talking to Holly, professionally helping me then Mikey the store manger butts I’m going back and forth with me on options- he was talking to me in such a rude and condescending manner. Sounded so miserable. He was so annoyed he told Holly to charge the full months rent and stormed off😂 extremely childish behaviour.

Anyway, I shut that conversation down and went back to speak to Holly. She so lovely and charged the card with only £24 🙃. Strangely enough, the payment bounced back and credited back luckily.

I believe their increase is one of their ploys depending on how long you need to stay etc. lost all trust in them as a result and DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I do recommend Big Yellow Storage, it’s more value for money and cheaper than here. I did my check in with the store manager there and is a clear gem to their company.

This is my second year in a row of using access self storage and they have not disappointed again. As in my review last year, I was impressed with their friendly and efficient service, from information on the phone and setting up in store. They provided the best value storage in Birmingham even when booked last-minute on the day. Having to download the app to get codes is a bit of a pain but that is the only gripe. Highly recommend.

From my first call, the service and help had been excellent. Easy to find and park at and very accommodating in finding me space at a particularly busy time. Very happy and impressed.

Though my experience of Car park was not good but my experience with manager and staff was excellent. They understood my situation and cooperated in all ways.

5 star for customer service

Gave a great price and upgraded me to a larger for free unit when the size I wanted wasn’t available. The units are armed and you feel as if they are well protected.

The storage center is good and the staff are very nice and professional also very helpful entire time, it’s just a bit expensive on the rent rate but on the service and hardware side is very good

From already having issues about direct debits being taken I was shocked to find that today I’ve had £170+ taken from my account.
From being told it was £85 a month which I would not have to pay by direct debit if I didn’t want too, they decided to take it out regardless to the discussion, I’ve had random amounts being taken on random dates.
Absolute terrible, I’ll be making a personal visit in the morning to give notice and will never ever use this company again, I’d advise everyone even taking a second to consider using this firm, check every little bit of paperwork, protect yourself and make sure you get “in writing” what you may have been told, do not take the word the sales rep because I imagine tomorrow I’m going to be informed that the small print I was told was just a generic paperwork and to “not worry about it”. Is the response I will get when requesting my money back!.
