I have been attempting to restart a subscription now for 12 days. I call every day and am continually promised that they will be in touch with the carrier or talk to the circulation department to get the problem corrected. Reaching a supervisor is almost impossible - I am put on hold after having the customer service rep saying they have reached out to their supervisor who will take my call. Nobody picks up and you can't leave a message. I have gotten emails from staff assistant/delivery field ops and not gotten a response. I can't reach the circulation manager directly, and apparently neither can the customer service reps.
This has happened every year for 6 years. Usually it takes a week.
Obviously the process is broken somewhere, but no one seems to know how to fix it.

I wish I could leave less than 1 star. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT subscribe to WSJ. I've never received ANY copy of the newspaper and now they wont refund me. So basically we just donated money to them. Now they refuse to cancel. This company is as bad as comcast.

I was going to sign up on the $4 a month deal, but seeing the amount of complaints on cancelling when you want without any drama has completely put me off.

The Wall Street Journal deliberately makes it extremely difficult to cancel their service. You cannot do so from your account. California, Vermont, and New York State seem to be exceptions. It is literally easier to change your address to one of those states to cancel.

They will not accept written notice so you have to call in. But often the numbers do not work and when they do work they try to keep you on the line as long as possible to badger you into changing your mind.

Really very distasteful to deal with. Will never subscribe again.

Can't cancel. What a joke. Don't sign up for a great news paper. You can't cancel without calling a number.

If you can’t trust the news not to steal from you, is there hope for journalism. WSJ has no online way to cancel subscriptions you never consented for. It took me over 30 minutes and three phone calls to get a subscription I never ordered cancelled. I had to speak with 3 different people. Shady and unacceptable.

Same as everyone here, charged an absolute and increasing fortune additionally, it is incredibly difficult to cancel the membership. As soon as you try to cancel they offer a discounted rate.

Their cancellation policy is worse than cancelling porn sites.

This is a scam and the worst service and subscription ever. I have been charged $40 every month without knowing and i finally caught the most recent month, which is for june 2021. It is currently may 24th, and I wanted to be refunded for a month that HAS NOT HAPPENED yet, and they wont give me back my money which is robbery essentially. Its absolutely unbelievable. At any other company, they would 100% give money back for a service that has not been used yet for an upcoming coming up, but not wall street journal. Its absurd and ridiculous. NEVER get persuaded to do the 3 month trial for 3$ because they don't tell you you are going to be charged $40. a month after that.

Terrible company, easy to subscribe but when its "cancel anytime" they forget to disclose that it's just a lie to trick people to subscribe.

Exactly like everyone here I've been scammed in Australia. Offered promotional offer and says cancel anytime. They just fail to mention impossible to cancel other than calling. Extremely disappointed.

I am not going to tolerate being ripped off, Wall Street Journal. Fair warning. I’m a public schoolteacher and former lawyer and I will be sending you a demand letter under Massachusetts General Laws for your unfair and deceptive business practices, which allows me to request double or even triple damages for deliberate bad faith practices. Shame on you for stealing money from students and ordinary people and people overseas; is that your business model? You apparently don’t care about these horrible reviews and sad stories of desperate people trying to stop you from sucking $40 every month from their bank accounts. So when I finish up the school year (or maybe before) I will be contacting the Attorneys General in MA and NY to investigate and put a stop to this. Maybe some investigative journalists too. It’s a shame because all I wanted to do was read one of your articles on teaching that my sister sent me, so I signed up for 12 weeks for 12 dollars. Now you owe me 6 months at $40, or $240.00 of my hard-earned dollars. Believe me I WILL get them back, even if I have to file a small claim in Chicopee, where you apparently have an office, because I simply will not tolerate a bully or a cheat. Shame on you.

Don’t get a subscription. They force you to call and cancel it and even then it might not work. I have called them over half a dozen times to cancel and they still continue to charge me a year later. Don’t let these people steal from you.

Wall Street Journal is a scam. You sign up for the $4 student version and then it randomly changes to $40 a month. There is no way to cancel online. In order to reach a customer service rep on the phone you have to listen for a solid 4 minutes. The lady on the phone pretended not to hear me at first until I used some profanity saying "can you ******* hear me now" and then she said "yes I can hear you" and hung up. They are literally just ripping people off. I am a broke college kid I can not afford $40 a month for useless news I can get for free somewhere else online. They just want to scam as much money off of you as they can and do not care about what they are doing to someones lively hood. I am a senior now and am so happy I will never have to use this Sh***y service ever again. If you have to sign up for a class beg your professors to use a different service. I am not one to usually write a review however I dislike WSJ so much I feel as though I want to attempt to save anyone I can from getting scammed through them. I wish this company would go bankrupt but they are riding on enough forgotten about subscriptions to keep them in business forever. Boycott WSJ they suck. I'm serious don't sign up for a subscription unless you want to lose like $500.

Yes, i did just call the office in the UK and for 3 min.42 sec. talked to an officer. He tried to persuade me to not unsubscribe. I mentioned that after this strange unsubscription policy i do not trust WSJ no more. Before calling i needed to buy an international call service, of course.

Impossible to cancel without calling. They've intentionally left out any option to cancel online or change payment frequency. In my case, I have to call an international number.
And I didn't even want to cancel, just to change from monthly to yearly.

Extremely difficult to cancel the subscription. I thought I’d try it for a month but cancelling has proved extremely difficult. You can’t do it online. They won’t accept a request to cancel via email and calling them is time consuming - I haven’t yet got past the queue to speak to someone.

WSJ has become Fox News for the wealthy republicans. It has changed from a conservative tilt on news to a conspiracy-laden advocacy for Trump. A few examples:
No stories reported on the capital riots and what that did to our democracy. Some news is totally left out while other news reported was incomplete. WSJ opinions promote, hate, and anger against President Biden, his policies, democrats, and continues to help keep this country divided. WSJ defend the new Republicans GA voting policies. According to WSJ, in the opinion, it said President Biden could raise taxes for people making over $200,000. I couldn't find any other news information on POTUS going against what he promised. That story created so much hate and anger toward President Biden and Democrats in the article's comments. The business section was not as good as it used to be. I enjoyed the real estate section. I did not have to use customer service. If you're a Trump supporter, you'll like it.

Its so easy to subscribe but you have to call them to cancel. I have not used my account since last year and they have constantly been charging my card. I only subscribed for a free version. This is pure cheating and shady tactics as its best
