Extremely hard to cancel subscription.
Cannot cancel my subscription online! This is ridiculous. You have to call a phone number in a foreign country (my country is not listed), with limited opening hours. It should not be legal to make the subscription so easy and the cancelling so extremely cumbersome. Technically it should not at all be harder to unsubscribe than subscribe. WSJ loses all credibility on this stunt.
Cannot cancel online
Cannot cancel online. Have to call to cancel, this is such a poor practice. I will never go back to this business ever in my life and tell everything I know never to use it. WSJ, you can't win by making it worse for consumers.
Slimy business that should not be rewarded for its predatory tactics
I tried to cancel 7 months ago, and apparently it did not go through. I ended up being charged unknowingly for 7 months (totaling $ 273). They refused to offer any sort of refund or work with me at all when I eventually realized what had happened. The fact that a company like the Wall Street Journal operates in such a slimy way is incredibly disappointing. Signing up is as easy as putting your credit card info in while canceling requires you to scour their website for the right number, call it, get transferred a couple of times (because there is no option from the main menu to cancel your account), get dropped multiple times, and eventually end up talking to some dude who barely speaks English and refuses to help beyond simply canceling your account.
I hope the Wall Street Journal makes the most of that $ 273 they greased from me because I will never give them another dime and will continue to encourage everyone I know to do the same.
Awful cancellation policy!
Good journal but very bad customer service. Cancellation policy is awful!
Can't Cancel Online
Can't Cancel Online
Its deliberately designed to cash in on people who cannot figure out how to cancel. Plus they wasted quite a bit of my time.
Can't Cancel Online
The actual digital subscription I had was enjoyable and useful. Unfortunately, I can't afford it. There is NO WAY TO CANCEL ONLINE! You have to call. Disgraceful! After poking about for 30 minutes in their menu warren, I found an "I want to cancel" link. I excitedly clicked that link and got this trash:
"I am sorry that you want to cancel.
I am unable to handle that request but
my team can assist. You can cancel by
calling 1-800-Journal or Toll: 1-609-627-1351"
It is a sad commentary on our society that a publication with the status of the WSJ should stoop to such grimy tactics as this. Even when I can afford to do so, I won't ever subscribe again. I advise others to avoid it, as well.
problems with cancelling the subscription
Had the same problem with imposibility to cancel subscription. Thanks for the trick with changing billing adress to one in California, the cancel button has emerged then. I hope they will charge me nothing from now
Who Do I need to Bribe to Receive the WSJ ??
I see that several readers are having difficulty cancelling this paper.
My issue is different. I JUST WANT TO RECEIVE IT. It is a decent publication, given the inadequate competitors in this space. And customer service is fine by phone.
I have complained frequently about missed issues, MONTHS with no magazine, RARELY a weekend paper delivered before Tuesday.
Things will improve for a while then BACK to slacking.
I DO NOT WANT TO CANCEL. Please try to deliver the paper for which I pay and read every day!
Thanks
Beware of the subscription scam!
The product itself was good 4 stars. The part that disappointed me was how difficult it was to navigate between all the different subscription offers. I settled on the three months for a buck figuring at the end I will get a year if the product is good. I missed my deadline and was charged $43 a month for two months. Their customer service is so poor, by the time my subscription was canceled Id been billed for a third month. So $130 when a full year is offered at $67.60...... But that's only for NEW customers!

You can subscibe in one click but need to call and wait for a while to cancel your subscription. Canceling shoukd be online too, ridiculous in this day and age !!!!!
I had forgotten that I had subscribed…
I had forgotten that I had subscribed to WSJ a few months ago and so was caught off guard with the new payment. Thank you for the tip about changing the CC billing address to a California address - that worked perfectly! (I did use a valid address though, not a fake one as that apparently will not work, at least when I tried it.) Totally agree that they border on being a bunch of scammers. Never again!
Think twice about subscribing
This was one of the weakest cancellation experiences I’ve had. Needed to call in and wait for 30 minutes to cancel. Obviously the WSJ could set things up to allow customers to cancel or suspend subscriptions online.
The WSJ is by far my favourite newspaper. Great writing. But their customer service is worse than some cable companies!
Their business practice is to make…
Their business practice is to make money by making it impossible for anyone to ever cancel a subscription. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE to their digital product. Worst customer experience and shows the WSJ brand does not care about building trusting relationships with consumers.
Don’t subscribe! They won’t let you go!
Trying to cancel subscription but they have made it impossible!! I’m raging! How can I stop payments? Speak to my bank? What a bunch of cowboys! Help - I’m in the U.K.
It would be zero stars if I could
It would be zero stars if I could. I called them 4 months ago and CANCELED, they still charging me and they simply never pick up that cancel line, plus the music is annoying. Multiple emails were sent and they just repeat I have to call. Never subscribe to this! I am not surprised to see their 94% disapproval rate. They have no idea on how to get people back, so they never let you leave, go read the Netflix Harvard business case and learn something WSJ!!! Worst customer service I have EVER experienced in my whole life!
Not a subscriber
Not a subscriber, but this review is with regards to the WSJ Shop for back issue orders. I ordered 20 magazines, only to get 1. Emailed customer service multiple times, got 0 responses. Called the hotline who told me they can't help me. You'd think a big reputable company like Wall Street Journal would at least have some sort of customer service channel, but no. Raising a chargeback against this order now. Stay far far far away from any of their products and website.
DJ*WALL-ST-JOURNAL made a fraudulent…
DJ*WALL-ST-JOURNAL made a fraudulent charge against my credit card. The contact phone number provided is no longer in service. The new phone number provided led to a series of circular menus that did not include relevant department. I eventually reached a live but thoroughly unhelpful "customer service" clerk who said he knew nothing and did not know who I could contact to resolve the problem. I eventually gave up and reported the fraudulent charge to the credit card company. This, in turn, forced me to change the credit card account numbers on all of my recurring monthly charges.
Beware of their cancellation policy trap
If you have a digital subscription, in order to cancel the subscription online, you have to change your credit card's billing address to a California address. Otherwise, you need to make a phone call cancel the service, which can take a long time.
Respect lost
How truly unethical that the cancellation policy of the WSJ reflects that they do not care where their revenue comes from--engaged routine subscribers or individuals that simply continuously fail to dedicate at least an hour to dealing with the totally infuriating inability to cancel electronically or by phone ONLY during business hours.
Followed the tip of another user below to change your billing address to CA--once you do this and refresh and go back through the general areas you would expect to be able to "manage your subscription", there will be a "cancel subscription" option due to the requirements of CA.
