Mechanic Misdiagnosis & Negligent Customer Service
💰 We often think business "success" is cash flow. However, that is short term. I think what really defines success is how a business handles things that go wrong.
When a business shines in customer service, they reap the rewards of free word of mouth promotion.
I know from experience in marketing that 50%+ of peer to peer recommendations can result in customer action.
When they fail, that opportunity dissolves and even works against future earnings potential.
Wrench, Inc. YourMechanic (Acquired) you have failed. For years, I have regularly told my friends to hire you. I have never had a bad experience, until now.
Last week, my car broke down.
On Wednesday the ABS light came on and the engine was making some grinding noises. Eeep! I had to get it towed home.
When I got home at 2am I booked a diagnostic.
Your own customer service staff agree that the intent of a diagnostic is to diagnose what is wrong with the vehicle. The outcome is a report on the health of the car. It is a continued business driver for Wrench because it recommends further services.
Wrench team, I want to give you my money! Please tell me how to spend it so I can get back on the road.
The mechanic did not do their job. They only recommended that I needed coolant, which we put in the vehicle and then he said that it is no longer making the grinding noises. When I turned the vehicle on the next day and tried to take it to Jiffy Lube as a double check... it was still making grinding noises. I walked to an automotive store and bought more coolant. Still making noises.
I know from a previous diagnostic that this mechanic should have recommended break pad replacement. Your customer service team sees this in their records. This mechanic should have also recommended the brake light replacement service. I did this on my own after going to the automotive store.
Since there are further issues that the mechanic did not identify, I Googled and educated myself for how to get the vehicle into engineering test mode. This identified that the vehicle is in need of an oil change and the emission system light is on.
These are things that should have been in the diagnostic report.
Last Saturday I contacted your customer service team to inform them of the misdiagnosis. They agreed that the items outlined should have been in the report and the mechanic should have recommended further services.
I requested that your team redo the diagnostic. I will pay for a second opinion! If there are further issues discovered, the previous $160 cost becomes credit on my account.
This should not be a big deal for your team to execute. And it is a small dollar request that lets you keep the cash and get MORE cash for additional services that the mechanic should recommend.
Why is this taking almost a week now to solve with me calling every day and your service team continuing to tell me you'll get back to me in 24hrs?
I had to say something about it. Love your company but this is just inexcusable!

Called to get a diagnostic but was told they could not do it because I had done work on my mother's vehicle I have never heard this form a paid professional company before i got it running good anyway whuld not recommend this company they hung up on me too

Paid $1300 when I was quoted $1200 for a new a/c compressor installed. Never installed the air dryer promise to come back and never did. Terrible customer service support line.
If I could give zero stars I would…
If I could give zero stars I would. Scheduled an appointment to come do a diagnostic test as believed I had a fuel pump issue and an oil and filter change. All was well until the day of the appointment. I was scheduled 7:30a-9:30a, I get a call about 9:15 to tell me the mechanic had a family issue and would need to reschedule. Though annoyed I understand things happen so I rescheduled for the following day in the afternoon at 2:30. About 2:25 I get call saying the appointment would again need to be rescheduled. I initially rescheduled again until I began to think about how this is becoming a trend. I called back to cancel and finally got confirmation. I feel like I was held hostage for two days because I’m without a vehicle and an unreliable company to assist with my car needs.
Unreliable and Untimely Warranty Support
We booked service through Wrench/YourMechanic for their competitive pricing and ability to have a mechanic do the work at your home. We had our front brakes replaced on our 2019 Mazda Cx-5 and the mechanic did great on the job but I believe because the brake pads were not OEM, the brakes are starting to squeak at every brake and every turn of the wheel which is abnormal for newly replaced brakes. With Wrench/YourMechanic's warranty of 1-year or 12,000 miles. We thought we'd be able to get ahold of their warranty department to come to a resolution... but it's been one week since we've emailed and left a voicemail and still no communication from them. I'd highly recommend the work but I cannot recommend Wrench/YourMechanic should the work go wrong.
UPDATE:
After 2 months of trying to reach out to their customer service and dealing with the BBB. I got a pre-warranty diagnostics appointment scheduled on the exact one year mark of my brake pads being replaced. I had to place a $150 pre-authorization on my card for a mechanic to come out and if they deemed the part defective was covered under warranty, they would refund me the $150 pre-authorization. The mechanic that came out determined that because the previous Wrench mechanic didn't do the job correctly (replaced the brake pads without replacing the brake rotors) that was the reason for the brake squeak so they deemed it not covered under warranty due to them only working on the brake pads. So after hundreds of dollars invested in Wrench's services, I have defective brakes that could've been prevented if the original Wrench mechanic would've informed me to do the job the correct way. I highly would not recommend Wrench's services.
I am getting the runaround on a…
I am getting the runaround on a warranty claim they said they submitted on 8/11. Technician came out on 8/10 for diagnostic. He says brake sensors are needed to fix the issue. Wrench says they submitted claim to warranty company on 8/11. I’ve called warranty company multiple times and they have no record of claim from Wrench. I’ve called Wrench everyday since 8/12 and I’ve been lied to and have gotten nothing but conflicting information. I was first told the claim was emailed to warranty company on 8/11, then I’m told they will escalate for status. Now today 8/14 the rep says he can’t see if the claim was submitted or not and he needs to escalate to their “warranty” department again. I ask for a manager and I have now been on hold for over 30 minutes and the rep has not checked in with me once. I am so frustrated right now. They have $150 of my money on hold and as soon as it clears I am disputing with my bank. This is totally unacceptable. If I could give 0 Stars I would.
The ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY I’ve ever…
The ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY I’ve ever dealt with in my life; like every other complaint I could not agree more they are total scammers and absolutely worthless. Lie to you constantly about showing up and say they’re at your place when they’re not and take your money without a minute of service. Cannot believe they’re actually in business; HORRIBLE PEOPLE
No showed
No showed. Took me two hours on the phone to get the appointment scheduled. Mainly because they wanted me to pay $150 for diagnostic first, when I knew what the problem was and just wanted it fixed. Yes I’m a woman but I know a broken belt when I see one. Then they no showed after texting saying they were on the way. Zero stars will tell everyone never to use
Highly recommend looking for another…
Highly recommend looking for another company. This is not a reputable one. Mechanic that was sent did not have any knowledge of Cadillac Northstar motors. He pointed to where he thought the part was, and I had to point him to where it was. It was underneath the manifold he pointed to the valve cover. I asked him are you familiar with these motors he said no had not worked on any. Lastly, he shows up in a car
stead of a truck with the correct diagnostic computer, he was not able to read all the codes. My car was sending when I asked, he said he did not bring his larger computer. Last point he showed up with his girlfriend waiting for him in the car. He couldn’t leave fast enough.
After searching Sunbiz I do not believe they’re licensed to do business in Florida.
Stay away from these guys!
This company was referred by my warranty company. After 4 days I was finally able to get an appointment scheduled for 07/21 from 8:30 am - 10:30 am. I received a call at 10:35 am letting me know they mechanic doesn't work on Sundays, wouldn't you think they would be aware of that when they scheduled the time? Then I scheduled for today, I was assured they would not charge my card for the diagnostic until they submitted the info to my warranty company, guess what they processed the payment right after the visit. The info they provided on the repairs needed was not any where close to what the mechanic told me. when I asked him for a ball park on the cost of the repairs he said around $500.00. I requested a quote from them and it was over $1800.00. Thanks but no thanks!
If I could put lower than one star I…
If I could put lower than one star I would. When you call, they never have immediate appointments, always a week or longer. On the day of my scheduled appointment the timeframe for the mechanic to arrive was between 830am to 1030am, well no one showed. I called until 2pm mechanic never came, I received no call and then I get an email stating the appointment was cancelled. Very unprofessional and inconsiderate! Please do not waste your time or money. This business is not reliable buyer beware!!!!!!!
Terrible TERRIBLE company
Terrible TERRIBLE company! Set an appointment for 3-5 and the mechanic tried showing up at 1 w/o any messaging or call asking to come early. My truck is at my grandparents so I was not there yet being I had two hours before the soonest he should have showed up. He left soon after getting there two hours early since I wasn’t there yet, and even tried charging us for just showing up two hours early. When I called to ask why their mechanic showed up two hours early they had no answers and just wanted to reschedule. This company and terrible mechanics are a straight up joke. I would NOT recommend anyone going there.
MECHANIC don't care that your diabetes disabled on a fixed budget came to fix car a 3 hr…
Mechanic came to fix car a 3 hr estimate on the job. Works 3 hrs and tells me he has to come back because he has a defective part. Ok then he comes back late afternoon works about 3 more hrs. He comes and tells me my car is fixed. Ok ,he leaves. I drive the next day and notice the AC stops cooling at a stop. I drove a total of 23 miles and come home. I lift the hood because I'm thinking the coolant is low. He put new antifreeze in it but the antifreeze looks dark odd. I remove the cap and there's engine oil mixed with antifreeze. I put a piece of cardboard under the car to see if he fixed the oil leak. He didn't fix it he didn't fix what I pd him to do and what we agreed on. I have contacted these people all ways possible continuously. And everything link, email, phone number has just led me in circles. I contacted the Ceo several times telling of my experience and he will not contact me. I get a recording leave my info and no one calls. Customer service can't help warrenty department won't call. The owner doesn't care he won't contact me. 286$ and pretty much demanded that up front. I text the mechanic he won't reply. They are supposed to be new to Tulsa area seems like they would help. They aren't backing what they claim on their sight. They are low down thieves and I'm doing all possible to get the word out. Maybe local news tomorrow. This is bs Ed Petersen CEO. I'm posting on all social media . People are broke as is and the thieves want to lie and steal and they already have money. That's how they are getting away with it. You know the business represents the owner. Ed Petersen your a low down thief.
Ghosted mechanic and wrench.com…
Oscar came out to replace the alternator. He later said I need a new belt tensioner and idle pulley and belt. After 2 days he finished and it squeaks all day. He will not respond nor will wrench.com honor the warranty. Silence
Used to work for them
Used to work for them. Terrible experience! Its a sinking ship! Dont use them! Nothing but a loosing deal!
Chuy the Liar
Booked an appointment for June 20th 2024 on my vehicle to change out my trunk actuator. My appointment was scheduled for the 11:00 to 12:00 service window. By 12:00 the mechanic chuy still didn't show up. I called wrench to see where the mechanic was and they stated he was behind schedule and would be there as soon as possible. Luckily I took the day off of work so I had time to wait. At 3ish p.m. I received the email saying my mechanic was on the way but an exact time of when the mechanic will arrive was not given. At 3:43 p.m. I received another email saying my appointment was canceled by the mechanic. The email stated the mechanic had arrived at my home and was not able to get a hold of me so he canceled the appointment and I was charged a $150 cancellation fee. I was never contacted to tell me the mechanic had arrived at my home via email, text message, phone call or how about coming up to my door and ringing my doorbell. I called customer service again asking why I'm being charged this fee when I didn't cancel the appointment and mechanic never showed up. They stated the same thing the email said the mechanic was outside my home and couldn't get in contact with me. I have two cameras outside of my home I look through my camera feed and never saw anyone approach my vehicle at that time or pull up in front of my home. So the mechanic lied and said he showed up to my home when he never did after I sat there and waited an additional 4 hours for this mechanic because he couldn't make the scheduled appointment at 11:00 a.m.. the $150 was a credit to my account for the next time I make another appointment. This was my first time using this service and this is how a first time customer is treated so your reputation isn't looking good right now wrench why would I want to use your service again? So I wanted my $150 to refunded back to me. Customer service stated that they will have to look into it and it will be investigated and they will call me back within 24 hours. Guess what happened 24 hours came and went and wrench never called me. So I called them back two days later inquiring about the investigation. I talked to customer service for a good 30 minutes before I was pretty much hung up on but I was sent to a survey and then I was hung up on. So I had to wait 10 minutes to get a customer service agent on the line 20 minutes to talk to this customer service agent to tell them the issue and to find a resolution and then to be sent to a survey and then hung up on. So I called back 5 minutes later and waited on hold for another 10 minutes to talk to a supervisor. I told her the issue all over again and she stated the cancellation was valid because I wasn't there at my vehicle which is a lie. I was at home the whole day because I took off of work so now I've missed money because of this lying mechanic. She said the mechanic sent me an email to say he's at my home but mysteriously that's the only email I never received. I've gotten emails for every step of their process when getting your car serviced but mysteriously I didn't get that one email the most important one to say he's at my house....... amazing! Furthermore, the mechanic went further into his lie and said the car wasn't located at The Address given at time of me making the service appointment. My car was sitting directly in front of my home because the whole day I'm waiting for this mechanic. I told the customer service representative I have two cameras in front of my home and this mechanic never showed up and my car was sitting in front of my home the whole time....... this lady a customer service supervisor literally asked me to send her my camera feed which I have to go through my security company to get just to show proof that I'm not lying and that this mechanic is a liar. I've seen a previous review by Philip pearson on 3/24 about this same mechanic abt lying about showing up to appointments but yet the customer is lying and I have to jump through hoops by sending you my camera feed to show you he's lying when we already know he's a liar from previous reviews. If I sent her that camera feed which shows that I'm telling the truth then they will refund back the $150 cancellation fee which I didn't cancel the mechanic canceled. So pretty much I'm like at this point you refuse to give me my money back. I have to jump through all these hoops just to get my money back and the $150 is going to be credited to the next appointment I make so you're pretty much your forcing me to make another. So I schedule another appointment for tomorrow 6/24 fingers crossed n pray for me that this mechanic actually shows up n knows how to fix the issue competently because I read all the other previous reviews and it seems their mechanics are incompetent so I may have another problem on my hands further down the line!
Theft
Theft! I wish there was a "Zero Stars" button. I was charged twice, $150, then $149.99 for a non-refundable order. I cancelled, no one ever came out and provided no service, yet they still charged my card.
What a racket!

STAY AWAY
One of the mechanics came out to replace my alternator (probably didn't even need to be replaced). He installed it incorrectly and had to come out again and cancel the rescheduled appointment twice. Scheduling with this "company" was a nightmare. I was going to be charged $150 and was told I'd be refunded if they found it was their fault. This place seemed shady, and I didn't trust them, so I removed the credit card they had on file. The mechanic told me right away he knew what he did wrong, so I knew it was on them. I kept getting notifications to submit payment, but I just ignored it. He was finally able to install it correctly, but I couldn't help but notice alcohol on his breath. Lucky for him my car ran properly.
6 months later my AC isn't working. I took it to a real certified mechanic and was told my AC compressor broke and it looked like someone was tugging at it when they installed the alternator.
DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY. I know they might quote a cheap price, but it's not worth the damage and unprofessionalism in the long run.
THEY HAVE MISSED TO SCHEDULE…
THEY HAVE MISSED TO SCHEDULE APPOITMENTS WITH NO COMMUNICATION UNTIL AFTER THE APPOINTMENT WINDOW
