Not good for learning
Code Nation are good at getting students apprenticeships but are not useful for teaching or preparing them for a work place. The twelve week course starts well but quickly falls into disarray leaving students to teach themselves. Not enough knowledgeable teachers, only interested in getting apprenticeships signed off so they can make money
Not worth the £6000 price tag
Not worth the £6000 price tag. Office is fairly unorganised and dont take well to criticism. Business outlook is too shortsighted.
If criticism was taken on board codenation could be great for all parties concerned.
With that all being said, codenation is a fantastic concept and offers people looking to get into the tech industry a great opportunity to meet like minded people and the chance to network with real businesses.
Conclusion
If you have the self discipline to use any of the thousands of online resources to learn code at home this will not be worth your time.
However if you're looking to network and find yourself a good team and opportunities to contact businesses this will be you. (If of course you can justify the cost)
EDIT: All the five star reviews I would take very much at face value. The office is know for making participants do reviews midway through the course which does not give a fair reflection of the course as a whole.
Poor experience which should have been much better
I enjoyed the 3-week course which I attended between January and February 2019. I found it overpriced (around £1000) but went with it because I wanted a change. The instructors were excellent (Sam and Dean), but I felt that three weeks were not enough to get a good grasp of the software development world.
I enrolled as a private payer (£6000) to attend the "bootcamp". I did have an interview with Northcoders but did not really like the environment there, so I got in touch with Code Nation, which seemed to be offering a course of about same structure and content. The first two-three weeks were good, we learnt about the basics of front-end development and I enjoyed myself. The rest of the course was very badly structured, barely any lecture followed an order, and we found ourselves having to Google key software development notions rather than getting actual lectures. I paid for the teaching, everybody can learn how to become a software development by taking online courses and reading free resources online.
I had to learn the majority of the syllabus (which was non-existent after week 3) by myself, deciding how to structure my individual learning and exercises. They push for apprenticeships because that's how they make money from, and I am okay with that, however they should make it clear that apprenticeships is what they will try and secure you. Not full-time junior developers jobs, as we are not even remotely prepared for those. When I secured a full-time job myself (as I did NOT want to go through the apprenticeship route), a member of staff tried to get in contact with them to see if they could turn it into an apprenticeship. And that's how I knew that this is not a school, but a recruiting company. I feel as if I lost a lot of money which I could have invested doing online courses and working alongside.
Some instructors are really good, but the overall idea of this "school" is just plain disappointing. I would not recommend it if you were a private payer like me, you will definitely not get your money worth. If you are able to and want to try and secure an apprenticeship before the cohort starts, then I would say go for it, but don't expect much.
Fantastic experience, learned so much!
I attended the Master Coding course at the Manchester office and absolutely loved it!
The teaching team couldn't have been more helpful - they made difficult topics easier to understand and were really supportive throughout my learning journey. The wider support team were also there to assist with any other issues and were always ready to help.
The course offers the structure required to give those new to coding the basics that will give confidence when starting out in a new career. But as the course progresses, it also offers the flexibility for students to focus on languages based on their individual or employer preferences.
As well as learning to code, Code Nation offered a more holistic approach through mindfulness sessions, yoga and other downtime activities to demonstrate the importance of a healthy work life balance.
Can't recommend enough!

A fantastic training provider... I would highly recommend!
I joined Code Nation back in February and started with their 3 week Coding course. As a complete beginner, I found the course content fantastic and suitable for anybody new to the software development sector. The tutor was brilliant, approachable and made the course fun! Everyone at Code Nation was extremely welcoming and I’ve met some amazing people. The environment itself is outstanding, with all of the latest equipment and technology.
During my 3 week course, I was introduced to the Engagement team who helped prepare me for recruitment sessions. Their help was invaluable, and they prepared and supported me every step of the way. A few days after I finished the 3 week course, I found out that I’d been successful at one of my apprenticeship job interviews and was given the opportunity to train at Code Nation on their 12 week boot camp.
I’m currently on week 10 of the software development boot camp and it’s been an amazing experience. I can’t believe how much I’ve learnt over the last 3 months! I’ve gone from knowing nothing about coding, to building my own websites, databases and mobile apps! My first 4 weeks were spent at the Manchester campus, and due to Covid 19, weeks 5 onwards have been spent working from home using Code Nation’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Code Nation’s VLE is outstanding and hasn’t impacted my ability to learn and progress. The support from my tutor and all of the staff has been brilliant and I couldn’t ask for a better team of people to work with. I am so thankful to have had Code Nation recommended to me, and I would highly recommend them as a learning provider for anybody wishing to start a new career in software development.
Fantastic experience!
A fantastic experience with a great team! They had a few teething issues with the transition to virtual learning that were mostly ironed out by the end of the course so I'm sure they'll be running future virtual courses even smoother!
Highly recommended to anyone who wants to get their foot in the door of the tech industry!

I am currently taking the 12 week master course as a junior software engineer apprentice. I'm finding the content really good and very well delivered, which makes it easier to understand and implement.
The virtual learning set-up is top quality and efficient.
The people are great too! : )
Flawless . . .
Tutors doing everything to ensure their students success as well as encouraging them to be autonomous, independent & self reliant, helping them to establish their own support networks by interacting with their classmates. Lockdown has made it necessary for classes to take place remotely/virtually - using Zoom, this is no substitute for an actual classroom, however - this is the best alternative considering actual classrooms are currently unavailable. Professional, attentive, patient, conscientious & diligent tutors/instructors who do their best to bring the best out of all their students, adapting, modifying & varying their teaching methods to match the different students' learning styles.
Develop coding 3 week course
The course was fantastic even though we had to do it virtually because of the current covid-19 restrictions
Best place ever
Best place ever, I didn't know any coding when I joined, I am now a graduate of the 12 week boot camp and have an apprenticeship with an amazing employer thanks to the guys and girls at code nation. Everyone is amazing, it is like a home away from home. I highly recommend Code Nation. I love this place
Great course if you’re considering coding
The course was a great insight into the world of web programming and coding.
It was very easy to follow, even with it being over Zoom and the instructor Jacob was very knowledgeable and a great teacher.
The advice he gave made it easier to understand than other similar courses I’ve done online and I’m very interested in continuing my learning with Code Nation. Can’t recommend this course enough if someone is looking into whether coding woul suit them or not.
Highly Recommend
As a beginner to coding this was a good entry level course to the basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript coding. It provided a good insight and served as a good taster session to see explore whether it's something worth pursuing. Our instructor, Jacob, was incredibly patient and clearly very knowledgeable. I'd highly recommend giving Code Nation a go if you're interested.
A new concept in online coding
A new concept in online coding. Worked well for all learners and was a fantastic free course that introduced HTML/Java to a new audience.
Highly recommended to all levels of ability.
Big thank you to Code Nations, Jacob Reily Cooper.

A great business model.... and really nice people!
They have the ability to take complete novices and get them ready for future employers - with a line of employers wanting to employ anyone who graduates from a Code Nation course!
This approach was translated to virtual learning during the COVID-19 pandemic & a lot of furloughed staff and contractors received excellent free training
