iv been trying to get through to this company for days there an absolute joke . do not go with this company for your electric or gas as you will truly regrette it they are a total shambles of a company ..DO NOT SWITCH OR SIGN UP TO THESE

I moved to them because I have a second gas and electric meter supply on the same plot for my garage that I don’t use much anymore with the possibility off eventually turning it into an air b&b
So as I have a tariff with eon next on my house I thought it would be a good idea to save standing charges on my garage by moving over to Utilita ,
A very nice Scottish guy told me pay as you go would be perfect for me and I would only pay for what you use as long as you don’t even turn a light on or use the gas
So after meany canceled appointment by them to actually fit the so called smart meters the first place we eventually get them installed, a very nice guy by the way he try’ed his best to get them to connect without any luck and told me give it a week or so before contacting them!!
So since march this year it’s not worked at all not that that’s a problem as such to me because like I said the supply is switched off the meters still read 000000
Also the Utilita app doesn’t work it did to start with
And now they are telling me that I owe them £37 for what I’ve no idea
It would be great if it was possible to actually get to speak with someone about this issue but that’s a challenge in itself a if you do eventually get through to someone you can be sure that it’s an Indian call center we all know how that goes!
So i will avoid this company in the future very dissatisfied its a shame you can’t give minus stars avoid !!

Holding on to my dead brothers money. Staff who just fob you off with 'be patient' and give you completely contradicting information during the same call. I think that demonstrates what you can expect if you make the BIG MISTAKE of signing up with Utilita. Morality and customer service is definitely not high on their list of priorities. Profits... well that a different matter. Save yourself weeks, if not months, of frustration and wasted time on phone calls with no sign of a resolution. Just DON'T SIGN UP!

I have been trying to reach Utilita for days. Phones don’t answer, live chat doesn’t connect, and emails get copy‑paste replies. Their customer service is basically non‑existent.
I have an urgent issue with my Warm Home Discount, but no one at Utilita will speak to me. I’m stuck with wrong information and no support.
If this is not fixed, it is a serious safety issue. This company leaves vulnerable customers without help and expects us to just wait forever. Absolutely unacceptable. I need someone to contact me immediately.

Avoid avoid avoid. Been with utilita close to a decade, they were fantastic at first but now they are a joke. In 30 days I've topped up close to £160 on my electricity alone according to the app but i know it's far more, this is despite them saying my average us is around £3 per day when i questioned why I'm suddenly using so much. Since the major update in June the app doesn't show usage most days, the balance is way off compared to at the meter, I'm pumping money into it daily and the power up option says "currently processing a previous power up" despite me not accessing one through the app for months. I'm paying nearly 3 times the same as my neighbours and I've tried to switch twice both times utilita have blocked the switch. They're now taking the warm home discount from thousands to cover outstanding debt first, customer service is non existent and if you do need financial assistance they now want a mountain of evidence why including bank statements. Do not touch this company or they'll rip you off left right and centre

Terrible. These individuals offered to switch me from EDF.
HASTLE from day 1. Couldn't log on, so phoned to cancel. Held for 45 minutes, told would need to transfer over to cancellation team, held another 25 minutes, then when I asked to cancel, transferred again, a further 30 minutes, to have call cut off !!!
Avoid like the plague. EDF sorted it all our with a further 5 minute phone call,in a very professional manner.

As a customer of utilita for over 3 yrs they lately contacted me to say that EDF would be taking over my account . They messaged me to say my final.bill was ready for viewing but when I opened my app they had wiped everything clean so I couldn't see it .
I know I was £490 in credit . So I called them to find out my bill it was as normal very low but I find I'm now just £390 in credit . My question is why did they wipe my account before I could view my final bill.

The worst customer service since British Gas. Have tried to leave on several occasions and they keep blocking it and refusing to give me and updated bill.

Had a problem with my meter and to my surprise i just got a cheque through for inconvenience. Been with this company 6 years this is the first problem Ive had and it was sorted quickly and efficiently with the added bonus of compensation much to my surprise.

Booked for a n engineer to replace electric meter no one arrived called to see what’s happening no engineer booked.

I received very Good Customer Service today from an Advisor which helped me solve my issue because on the 20/10/25 I had a Fuel voucher code sent to my phone as we were struggling to Top up which a charity organisation requested to Fuel Payout organisation which took to a Post Office for them to put voucher payment code onto our Electric and Gas which I didn't realise later on when knew on Smart Meter the Electric had not been added only the Gas that I had only gave the person at the Post Office the wrong card Bill Pay card Green card instead of Electric Pay as you Go yellow card which I tried to resolve with 2 other Advisors which they couldn't help I went back to the Post Office even to speak to person which did Fuel voucher payment that wrong card but no joy I then decided to call up number on the back of Bill Pay card and explained what I had done and finally the Advisor did manage to transfer payment put on wrong card over to our Electric Meter which really appreciate thankyou 😊

Was with utilita for 10 days. Top up £120 and when I left them I asked for a refund of my credit and they refused. Help line wasn’t helpful at all, they specialised on leaving you on hold then disconnecting you after a 40 minute call time.

Had a dor-2-door guy come round, we have a prepayment meter and he said the company we are with will be fazing them out in next 2 years (BG) and they wouldn't be. I switched. Turns out that was incorrect, they booked me in for a smart meter (I made it clear that day, we do not want a smart meter) I cancelled the booking. Now they are saying there's a fault with the meter (it was brand new in July 2024) and if I don't ring them within 14 days, they'll take legal action! so I rang them.....there's absolutely nothing wrong with my meter, it's because I only top it up every 6-8 weeks, again saying a smart meter would stop this confusion.....I switched to octopus within an hour. I will not be bullied/confused/scared into doing something I do not want

Utilita, go elsewhere
Utilita was once good, but it's now beyond bad.
Over the top usage, which in turn takes lots of money.
Too scared to have anything on or heat your home.
I don't believe the usage.
Now the app and Web page will not tell you how much you are using.
So even harder to keep track on the over the top cost. No communication from them, no answers from them. Get this sorted.
Customer service non existent, they either don't answer or cut you off.
I tried going through complaints to get my usage cost sorted and was left with a non answer.
I'm going to start looking elsewhere, I don't have any faith in this company any more.
Encounter with Face to Face Agent
This review is for a specific agent not utilita as a whole! I wanted to come on here to say I had a representative come to my house today to help with debt/ metre issues. Agent number was DHY. I stumble my words and go blank a lot due to a whole list of mental health struggles. Dale was so understanding and patient with me and I would even go as far to say he was trauma informed with his approach. What could have turned into a huge panic attack actually resulted to be a very helpful and thought through resolution. Big up DHY. Thank you!

this is the 3rd time an engineer has come to change those smart meters..and they don't show anything on the display...when I had the old one it showed 10 pounds how much electricity I was consuming and the meter showed 10 pounds..you guys charge 43 pounds a month...where the hell is the difference..yesterday everything changed. and it just shows nothing...i'm curious how much you're charging for electricity now because for 18 months you've charged me an extra 540 pounds in plos
