As a very experienced sitter/nanny, I can highly recommend Urbansitter. They have many safety recommendations along the way as you decide who you want to work with. You can add a lot of detail in your profile and video to showcase your experience and education regarding children. It has a calendar and payment features included in the app. I’ve asked several questions about varied topics and they’ve always answered promptly and respectfully! They also give frequent updates regarding current events (such as the current popular virus) and how to protect yourself and the families you serve. Give them a try and don’t be afraid to ask questions, look up reviews on google and YouTube, and generally explore the app thoroughly to familiarize yourself with how it works.

Definitely give UrbanSitter a try!!
When I was in college I used UrbanSitter a lot to pick up date night jobs during the weekend and even got a regular mother’s helper job during the week after classes. It was a great way to make extra money completely on my own schedule. You can set your availability for certain days and parents can book you, or you can look at posted jobs and apply for them. I met so many nice families and explored different parts of the city I may have never visited! When you set up your profile, definitely add a video and get reviews from past employers and other parents so you can start off with 5-Star reviews. I’ve seen other sitters complain but honestly if you do a great job babysitting and are professional and reliable (don’t no-show!) you shouldn’t have a problem and you’ll find so much benefit in UrbanSitter. Everyone at support has been helpful too with jobs and payments. I highly recommend you give it a try!!!

I used Urbansitter for four years when…
I used Urbansitter for four years when I was in college and am so thankful I did. I was able to work and spend time with some truly amazing kids, all while going to school full-time. I was also able to gain invaluable insight that has become essential to my current career - children's television.

Mystrious sitter and Urbansitter won't share basic information
Cant believe that UrbanSitter can have a sitter that wont share basic information needed to comply with IRS regulations and the company will do nothing to help. They HAVE all of the necessary information - if they did actually do a thorough background check. These are real families, with real kids, and their lack of transparency and willingness to help is uncanny. This sitter could have taken our kid and we couldn't even find anything about the sitter or where to go looking. This was a huge eye opener and lesson learned - stay away from this platform and vet others. At a minimum, a parent should receive basic information about the sitter before they arrive to your home.
Don't make this mistake - request and require information about the sitter upfront and only use platforms that allow this type of communication.
FYI - for those in the future, the only information needed, IMO, is a full name and Address. Urbansitter does not provide these basic details but want you to trust whoever comes to your house. Please beware.

UrbanSitter, the marketplace, is not an agency. For this reason, we do not employ sitters and accordingly, we do not provide W2's, unemployment benefits, and tax assistance to sitters. All matters of expenses and taxes are between the parent and sitter. It is our understanding that to claim babysitter hours and the payment made for tax or expense purposes, you will need to obtain the SSN of the sitters.
To protect the integrity, privacy, and security of member accounts we are unable to disclose a member’s personal information or account history to third parties in accordance with UrbanSitter’s Privacy Policy. Similarly, UrbanSitter does not have access to the personal information required for the background check. This site is a Joke..I put myself on Urbansitter a few weeks ago and applied to at least 50 jobs at the minute they are posted and got no answers back. I have an excellent resume , I am CPR first aid certified, owned a little daycare and so on . But I have no reviews because I was never booked, so no parents can give their feedback. I paid the $25 fees for background check.. I really think this site scams babysitters. No real jobs or too many babysitters who apply so you will never get a job

As a sitter with a ton of experience like yourself, we highly recommend boosting your profile by requesting recommendations from families you've previously worked with. They can speak to your experience and professionalism in the form of a 5-star review on your sitter profile. Be sure to also list your CPR certification on your profile, add a video, and direct deposit information to get paid for jobs via credit card.

I've encountered a few flakes but overall a great service.
I like using urban sitter - it's so convenient in a pinch. A few times I've had sitters flake out -- they get sick and cancel with short notice or what have you -- but I've always managed to find a replacement here again when that happens. Every sitter we've met through here has been nice so far.

Urban Sitter is one of the best sites…
Urban Sitter is one of the best sites for sitting children. When I had a problem logging in, it was quickly taken care of by Member Services. I logged in soon after and applied to one posting, had an interview and got the job. Their support team is great and I've had many positive results from Urban Sitter. I'd recommend it to anyone.

The Darkside of UrbanSitter
I’ve worked on this app for the last 2 1/2 years to only have my profile abruptly delete it. Not to mention the company gave me a short shallow email basically stating that within the user agreement I somehow broke it and that my account is deleted. I’ve sent several emails asking why my account was deleted to all of them being ignored. Urban Sitter cares more about its client income rather than maintaining its workers. I’ve been in several situations where a parent has threatened me while working and urban sitter has done nothing. Yet those emails never seem to get a response. Thanks to urban sitter’s nonchalant decision I no longer have consistent work and I’m struggling to make ends meet

UrbanSitter is a great site for regular weekend sitters - also hoping to find a full time sitter/nanny if a schedule works out (more a factor of schedule which is tricky). I find their background checks to be very helpful vs other apps. The app is easy to use, your ability to communicate with sitters is also a plus - I’ve kind this To be difficult or delayed on some sites - here it’s seamless and instantaneous. Definitely worth your time to explore.

Easy, robust and safe.
Researched a bunch of sitters. Heard back from a handful of them but the true beauty of this site is being able to reach out directly and also post last minute requests for response. I found a wonderful sitter who was just as considerate and discerning of her jobs as I was with picking someone. I even did an enhanced background check which was fast and easy but maybe not even necessary because of the standard screening also offered. The app has a great interface and I like the information you are provided. I highly recommend the site.
