Be careful signing up with those guys as they will bombard you with emails and there is no way to unsubscribe!
Illegal of course... but they have a very aggressive approach and don't care unless warned to get sued.
Also, forget about contacting any sitters unless you pay them high premium at the end of jumping through their search hoops... it is all a greedy system that will bite you and never let go (-;

Very early in my experience with UrbanSitter, but I ran into a technical issue that was solved accurately and timely by the customer support agent. The agent did not "pass me off" or attempt to rush me along to a quick resolution. She answered each email I had with empathy and thoughtful attempts to fix the issues. No problems with the platform yet, and hoping I don't.

Updated RESPONSE TO URBANSITTER’S REPLY BELOW:
It is NOT true that we are allowed to hire babysitters to come to our home. Only ESSENTIAL workers (ie medical staff, grocery or delivery people etc) are allowed to have sitters come to their home. That is a tiny percentage of California’s population. This mandate is still in place today which is May 7th.
You’re only continuing to charge our membership fees now because your business is down. But that is unethical since we can’t hire sitters now and haven’t been able to since early March.
Very callous response by the way. You show no concern for someone’s health or financial situation during this global pandemic. Only point to your “policies”. I don’t hire sitters to come over even if I could unless I absolutely have to. I don’t want to endanger their lives or ours. We are all sheltering in place and trying to keep our communities healthy and safe. By refusing to refund the fees you charged me unethically and not addressing my concerns at all, showing zero interest in keeping me as a customer, you’ve lost permanently as a customer. We were members for several years. We all want to survive this pandemic but by ripping off your customers, you’re going about it the wrong way. Short term gain, long term loss.

Why are there suddenly many 5 star reviews posted in the middle of a pandemic and shelter in place?? Are you having all of your friends write fake reviews? I asked for a refund for the last 3 months for monthly fees charged to me when I wasn’t able to hire any sitters legally through our state’s lockdown. Not only did they not refund, they tried to sell me an annual membership at a discount and throw “2 free months” which are an absolute joke because I can’t hire anyone right now anyway. Terrible customer service. We also subscribe to a car wash monthly service and proactively, without my having to ask them, they stopped charging my account in March and won’t resume my subscription until our state opens up again. Now that’s GREAT service. To continue charging membership fees and refuse to refund charges during a pandemic is unethical and truly a ripoff. Terrible way to treat customers. Cancel now before they keep charging you. And go with another competitor when this is over - don’t need to keep paying them for nothing.

I have UrbanSitter as a benefit from my company, after using this is the only way I would use it (when it’s free). First of all, they have many user issues with the app, when issues come up you can only email their customer service and mostly you will receive pre written responses that address zero of the issues you mentioned. The customer service will always blame the customer and not recognize the software failure.... then it can take from 3 hours to 3 days for a response. To make matters worse they wait 3 business days to pay your sitter even though you pay up front which is frustrating for all involved... to sum it up... mediocre app, worst customer service possible.

I have had the pleasure of being connected with UrbanSitter for a few yeas now. Getting started with US was very easy. It is very group to be connected with if you want to be a nanny/babysitter. I hooked up with them for the purpose of being a nanny. Since I have been with them they have sent me several leads for which I have been fortunate to procure lovely families. I enjoy been a nanny because I can then be with a child for a good period of time before the child is placed in a preschool. Then I still get to care for the child as a babysitter and that keeps me nice and busy and especially connected to the child. More about UrbanSitter: I receive several leads to select from so there is no shortage of clients to select from. If there is any problem with a client of the web site, they are quick to handle and with a lot of affinity. I am so happy I discovered this company.

I started using Urbansitter back in 2012 when I was an undergraduate college student. I had a very positive experience with the company throughout my 3 years on the site. I baby-sat for well over 30 families and found 2 consistent nannying gigs that helped me support myself through college. I had great experiences with almost all the families that I worked with and Urbansitter made it especially easy to connect with many different groups. I appreciated that I could interview and book with different families through the site as well as take credit card payments. Without urbansitter I wouldn't have met some of the wonderful kids that I got to help nurture and learn from. It also led me into working as a preschool teacher for a year. Thanks Urbansitter!
