Support is poor
Support is poor. I opened a case with them about an intermittent problem whereby some wireless clients work sometimes, then stop working. They respond back that I haven't tagged a VLAN on my uplink switches. Then how do they explain it working sometimes and not others? (They' didn't. Because they can't explain that). Their products are always one firmware away from being fixed. Support doesn't exist. An unlawful (UK law) re-stocking fee is applied to returns.
Products are great, customer service is garbage
I generally liked the products and the software but then I had to deal with the RMA process.
Customer service is pretty garbage unless you plan on keeping around cold spares for all your hardware. I submitted an support case which only exists over email and each response is close to a day turn around. They told me my hardware was defective and to RMA the device.
I submit an RMA and they tell me I have to mail back the device before they will mail out the replacement. This leaves my home without security cameras, networking, wifi, or internet.
This would be fine for a basic 5 port switch but this is a $200 device that is supposed to be the back bone of your infrastructure. I asked if they had an advanced RMA and they said my device didn't qualify for it and refused saying it was not possible to do it that way.
They have no customer support what so…
They have no customer support what so ever and make it overly difficult to get a replacement device. How does a company like this expect a small business to operate if we have to send back a vital faulty device first before it can get replaced! No switch then no internet or phone service for us. Oh but wait if I would have bought their extra insurance they would have been able to send the replacement first. Spent a little under 3000 for equipment and professionally installed for no support from this company.
Ubiquiti access point got so hot
Ubiquiti access point got so hot it turned from white to brown and we were afraid of it catching fire !
Sent it back to them, they said out of warranty so the will not fix it or replace it, I asked four times for them to adress the fire risk issue, they did not address it
Have a 48 pro switch 2 years old stuck…
Have a 48 pro switch 2 years old stuck in reboot loop. Support said bad hardware no repairs options just told me to buy a new one!!!
Hardware is great Support SUCKS!
I love their hardware and the configuration is normally easy. When it is hard their support SUCKS!!! You create a ticket and they respond in hours. You respond immediately, and they don't answer for 3 days, with a Unrelated answer to your actual issue. Then you respond in minutes and now it is another day to get a Unrelated answer. You try to clarify, and you get a request for relevant information to help them in 1.5 days. Then you send it immediately, and they take 5 days to answer the ticket. No escalation process to speak of, and no way to let them know you have a CLIENT NETWORK DOWN while they ignore the ticket!!
They are impossible to reach out to
They are impossible to reach out to, and everything is AI-generated—the worst Company with terrible customer service. Regret the thousands spent on equipment.
Unreliable products
I’ve bought so much equipment from this company, there products look good but are not fit for use, I’ve bought 3 gen 2 cloud keys and each one lasts just over a year before it fails. I’m now getting a device degradation (slot 1 ) message 2 months out of warranty , so looks like I’m about to have yet another junk product fail, Ubiquiti won’t be interested in supporting or helping and will just use the excuse it’s out of warranty , this current machine hasn’t been right since it was first set up, and replaced one that croaked when it was trying to do a software update , the hard drive corrupted because it was trying to do an update. AVOID THIS COMPANY , they don’t care and give you no help , nor do they take any responsibility for their unreliable JUNK products
Horrible service
Horrible service. Spent 2 days trying to get setup on Cloud Key 2 Plus. Brand new out of box. Told them it was DOA. Tried telling them for 2 days, waste of time. Finally returned to distributor - simple 5 minute process. Ubiquiti needs to get serious. I have 30+ Experience in networking and technology. Ticket #3804670
I have my unifi camera system for the…year
I have my unifi camera system for the last year, this replaced my old camera system which I had for years.
I have found the unifi system absolute junk and to complicated. I have got fed up trying to reboot it and getting it to run properly.
It looks like I will replace with a cheaper more reliable system. JUNk
Absolutely horrible, useless support system is designed to make you give up.
This message summarizes the absolute joke (and possibly unethical) way their support system works,IF you can get to them:
Looks like this is beyond the Chat Team's expertise. I will email you the transcript of this conversation in a few minutes, and have someone from the higher tier take a look.
You can expect them to get back to you via email shortly, usually within a working day.
Buy Mikrotik Instead
The hardware is reasonably priced and their advertised speeds of wireless gear is promising.
In reality, it's an absolute farce except the joke is on your professional career for taking Ubiquiti as a serious option.
The software is comically bad. They focus on making it look shiny, but it's just so unusable and unresponsive to any change that it makes your life a living hell trying to work on these antennas all day. Nothing really ever works, or if it does at the speed of 20% advertised on the box, even with power cranked up to max and perfect alignment.
Support? Forget about it - you're on your own. You won't even be acknowledged. It's no surprise when your software is this bad. What other choice do they have?!
UNMS was a promising feature, but they updated that too and made it into an unreadable mess.
Their mobile apps to manage antennas was also promising, but they never made it so you can get channel width, so they will just look for 20/40 Mhz APs when your network is on 10 or 30 Mhz. Absolute cringe.
You can't change to another sector brand, because AirMax is propriety communication that refuses to work with any other antenna from a third party. You would have to replace your entire network, including customer's antennas.
All while Ubiquity are belittling us all, claiming on their website "it's so easy, anyone can do it".
If I had a time machine, I would have bought Mikrotik instead. Sure, their stats aren't as attractive, their hardware is a little more expensive - but it works, and it works well.
Very poor tech support responses
When we had some difficulties with the access point we'd just bought, we got in touch with Ubiquity tech support to ask a few questions and the tech support were completely useless. Poor tech support puts us off buying any more Ubiquity stuff because what happens when something doesn't work? You're on your own with no good help at all.
no support
no logs available on GUI (UDM Pro, latest Firmware), support answered after 3 weeks (not hours, not days, WEEKS!) and requesting answer within 72 hours.
For the price they call, it´s full fraud. Will return my UDM and 4 AP Pro to amazon.
Ubiquiti is a scam
-Security is just a word found on google. No proper logs on their GUI, no useful logs forwarded over syslog so you have to take their word on what's happening on your network.
-Security related bugs are not a priority for them either.
-No clued support.
-Software is in ALPHA/BETA forever, yet they charge enterprise-grade prices. They then created a new GUI to hide all the ALPHA & BETA notices but the software is the same really.
-No documentation.
-Switches failing after 2 years
Just buy TP-link since you don't get visibility or reliability with ubiquiti (except maybe APs) so you may as well pay a third of the price and short their share.
Buggy, unstable, no documentation and no support.
Here is a word of advice before you buy any UniFi or Ubiquiti equipment. You need to know that most of the equipment, even models that has been developed for years are really buggy. Some issues like failing DHCP over WiFi has been there for 4-5 years and are still unresolved. Stability isn't there at all. You can expect problems with your network at least every couple of weeks. If you are thinking of something that you'll set up and it will simply work you better buy something else. In fact most of the consumer brands for home users would be more reliable. Product documentation is very poor, in most of the cases it simply doesn't exist. Support is very poor. People on the chat are useless. L1 engineers are sometimes not familiar even with the networking basics like OSI not to mention helping you in creating FW rules or knowing equipment they support. They are usually there to escalate to L2 that will contact you over email, if they contact you before you get old. Waiting for response from the L2 is taking days which I'm finding unacceptable. Imagine that you network is compromised or down. You'll be out of business before anyone bother to help you or you end up paying a lot of money to the 3rd party consultants to get your issue sorted in a timely manner. In the long run you'll be much better off spending more on Cisco, Dell or HP. I would give them 0 stars if I could.
Für Privatgebrauch nicht akzeptabel
Für Firmen? Vielleicht. Als Privatperson? Ohne Monatsabo oder 400€ Server einen Funktionierenden Router ohne ständige Softwareprobleme zu haben? Nope, selbst die Support Tutorials sind meistens Falsch oder um Jahre veraltet 0/10.
Keep clear of this company and it's products.
Unfortunately, there is no option for zero or negative stars.
Absolutely terrible company to deal with. How can you sell tech equipment with no support.
DO NOT buy any of this companies products.
No warranty, No support and absolutely no way I would trust them again.
Homelab Level Hardware & Software, Not Perfect but it works for my usecase.
Although I can't rate 5 stars as I've had quite a few issues with my Dream Machine Pro crashing due to inserting a Hard Drive or making changes in my web panel like forgetting a client causing it to freeze up. I can't say that I don't love their stuff.
My entire network runs on Ubiquiti and although it did cost a pretty penny, it didn't cost as much as some of the other more complex gear on the market.
If you are willing to deal with some of the shortcomings of a brand geared more towards the average person who wants a homelab or to run a small production network, Ubiquiti will get you there.
If you want something more stable, the bigger brands that have more years of experience in networking may be a better choice.
Chime for doorbell - doesn't work & they don't care
Chime for doorbell - no longer in Early Access. Bought two. Ah yeah, actually (after we got you to do tests) we realise we know they don't actually work! We'll go ahead and close the support case BUT if you'd like to check online you can see if they get fixed sometime.
HOLD UP - I just bought two expensive paperweights and you don't apologise or offer a refund just close the case and suggest they might start working sometime in the future but I need to manage that?
WOW - clueless customer service.
Made a fuss. Offered a refund - I explain I actually want a working product but they (not me) need to own letting me know when the've fixed it. Blank stare (in Email) back.
Beyond words!
