Trauma victim...now I feel empowered
I was struggling as the trauma victim in my relationship with my husband. The resources I used were VERY helpful and opened my eyes to how I can help heal myself. My triggers especially were an aspect that made me feel unsafe but this program helped me become aware of them. It also made me realize that my husband's addiction is not my problem and that there is only so much I can do. Also, that he needs to show my empathy, which he has been more successful at.
Not the voice I need to hear right now 😬
When I first signed up for this service, I expected most of the content to be presented by women as the course seems to be designed for women. Instead, when I watched the videos, Craig was doing most of the talking and sometimes even talking over his co-presenters which is pretty triggering. What I need to see right now are women with an empathetic voice who are focusing on empowerment. I only stopped participating because of this.

The coaches let you speak and they hear you out and other guys give their opinion cause we are all in the same boat. Craig is amazing and really gave me my life back! He helped me realize that being married to a sex/porn addict isn’t just my husband’s problem and but mine as well. I had a lot to work on myself and with the tools and practically he provided, it helped me dive into what my past traumas and struggles were and how to move past them and truly heal from them. I was “addicted to my husband’s addiction” as Craig would say (rightfully so) and I could never have inner peace and healing without facing that and letting go of the control! Once I relinquished control and realized I can’t fix or control my husband or his desires is when my true healing began. Craig and his team are really great at what they do, I was skeptical at first, but the time they take to take to work with you and really show they care is awesome, it’s not just one big group call, each individual eventually gets their chance to speak with and talk to Craig one on one. HI there. This is Kellie. I have a comment which you can decide how best to process. First of all, Gary decided not to do the program because he went with the SLAA program and is into it with recovery very well. So, he could not attend, but I was hopeful. Our situation is unique in that we are both older, unmarried and quite honestly have no legal ties to one another. In most instances, his acting out that I know of would be a true sign for a person to step away. I chose to stay only because we are both working a program. I am beginning my journey with COSA and CODA and feel the co-dependents group is something I should focus on. My mom is really my root problem with alcohol and sex addiction exposure since I was 11. she has been sober for over 40 years but I question this as true amends has not happened. But we are working through it. She is 83 and I just need to focus on myself.
The other issue - comment - I really wanted to rewire my brain like the book The Habit. I had a very hard time relating to the very traumatic experiences of the ladies on the call. It was very hard to hear and I just didn't have the bandwidth to process the sharing calls. The other thing... my issue, albeit Gary was a catalyst was and is my ex husband - or soon to be ex - I separated from him over 5 years ago. Had my own affair after 5 years of sexual anorexia due to his Porn and Fetish addictions which I chose to ignore due to my very busy business. This group did help me to confront the issue of divorce instead of a constant state of separation which he promptly wanted more money from me (I support him, as he is 16 years older and worked for me for 15 years). Courts in Wisconsin say I have to pay alimony for 50% the time I was married 15 years plus he is not able to be viable to work after 67 and he is 70. So, the cheaper to keep him situation is in play until I figure out next steps.
So, Gary is in a program and I am starting into my issues. It is about my addictive behavior to sex addicts and my co-dependency issues that are solid since my parents divorce when I was 11. I chose for years to ignore because I knew they would blow my world up and my business had too many financial and employee obligations. I don't have kids so nothing there to deal with.
Gary and I are good. We are in Hawaii and having a relaxing time and working out our issues. Daily I have insecurities (so stupid because I am a fighter and a driver) and he is sensitive to my lack of trust "triggers". All in all, we are going day by day. In the end, if we both can't work through this, we are not married and I have great new tools to help me in my future.
The only negative comment - The sharing and the intense trauma these women are experiencing with seriously sick husbands.... that was a bit much for me at this juncture in my life. But...the new tools and resources and knowing you are there are very important to me.

This program was exactly what I needed…
This program was exactly what I needed at a certain juncture in my life. I was on a slippery slope and the self-study program was very beneficial for saving myself. I would recommend 1:1 sessions if you are not a self-motivated individual. The weekly webinars are a very supportive aspect of the program and I highly recommend attending as many as you are able. You are not alone in this! I am certain I will be referring to the workbook and my notes as time progresses. You certainly must make a habit to break a habit. You are not a bad person, but may have done some bad things. This program helps you to see and discover yourself. You must love you before you can love anyone else.
