Absolutely fantastic experience at Hawksmoor Knightsbridge!

The Sunday roast options are exceptional – perfectly cooked, generous portions, and full of flavour. The meat was tender, the sides delicious, and the Yorkshire pudding was spot on.

The service was attentive and friendly, making the whole meal feel relaxed and welcoming. A brilliant spot for a Sunday treat, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch roast and a great atmosphere.

Great service

Today was our 10th wedding anniversary so we wanted to do something special. After reviews and recommendations we booked a table at Hawksmoor Manchester. From the minute we walked into the restaurant we were made to feel valued customers, a warm welcome at reception where they took our coats and hats, then we were taken through to our table and welcomed by our waiter for the night Matt. Matt asked us have we eaten there before and why we had chosen to eat here ? Then he walked us through their extensive menu and how it worked, he then asked what we like to drink and recommend a few cocktails which were both perfect. We were looked after all night, asked if we needed another drink when our glasses were empty, quickly cleared our tables where we had finished and asked us several times if everything was ok. I said at the start that when we arrived we were made to feel valued customers, by the time we left we felt like special customers, thank you Matt you made our night a special night and your company should be proud to employ you.

Excellent Service at Hawksmoor Wood Wharf
We had a wonderful dinner at Hawksmoor in Wood Wharf. A huge thank you to Matt, the two ladies at reception, and the waiter—all were absolutely brilliant and truly made us feel welcome. Their exceptional hosting made the evening memorable. Highly recommend!

Dine & Delight

Absolutely fantastic meal! We went for the set menu, which was such great value. The steak was cooked to perfection, the sides were delicious, and the peppercorn sauce was a real standout. The dessert was excellent too, and the cocktail selection was spot on. Not sure how anyone manages three courses — the portions are so generous! Can’t wait to come back.

Tried contacting customer service…

Tried contacting customer service regarding recent experience which was very poor, 2x emails sent and still no reply!

Firstly, upon arrival, we were directed upstairs by the cloakroom staff. However, once upstairs, it was unclear where we needed to go to be seated or who to approach for assistance. This lack of clarity caused us to wander around the bar area, which was busy and left us feeling quite embarrassed. Eventually, we made our way to the restaurant area, only to be told by a waiter that we needed to check in at the help desk outside the main restaurant. This confusion was frustrating, and I noticed several other guests experiencing the same uncertainty during our time in the bar area. I believe the cloakroom staff should provide clearer instructions to avoid such unnecessary inconvenience for guests.

Secondly, when our roast dinners were served, the potatoes were cold, and the gravy portions were so small that the meal was dry and unenjoyable. Given the reputation of your roast dinners as being among the best in the UK, this was particularly disappointing and did not meet the standard we had anticipated.

Went for lunch at Knightsbridge

Went for lunch at Knightsbridge. Complained to Hawksmoor and got a ‘please give them another chance sometime’ message and that was about it.

When we arrived the restaurant was busy but there seemed to be ample servers to cope and 3 members of staff just hanging around in the bar. There were multiple larger groups which seemed to be the preference of the servers probably as they thought they’d get a better tip from a larger table. Not cool.

Ordered our food and drinks at the same time. Starters came out in about 10 minutes, mains straight after we finished. So the chefs were on it, in a rush almost. Meanwhile the bar staff couldn’t get the two Shaky Pete’s Ginger brews out. Easier to just pour wine and open a beer - let’s not break our backs serving anything - there were 3 people in the bar.

When we were eating our mains I asked one of the servers where our drinks were and if they could take them off the bill. This then caused a fuss asking if we wanted them on the house. Not the point, we’d almost finished our food. It would have been more sensible of them to say they’d remove the service charge from the receipt as their service had been shocking, but that wasn’t offered just a free dessert or drinks. Minimal value to the Hawksmoor. Didn’t take a dessert or a free drink. They charged us £6.25 for the water and a £14 service charge. Both could have been offered for free but they were not.

Rubbish service and rubbish resolution - probably won’t go back and have been going to the Hawksmoor in various locations for years.

The Flat Iron is another chain in London I’ve recently been to - great quality and much cheaper - so a win win if you like steak.

Offensively overpriced mediocrity

Visited the Borough restaurant with a friend for a catch up whilst in London on business. The decor is nice, however the tables are a little to close together, which can make it quite noisy and difficult to hear the other side of your own conversation. The food was ok, nothing particularly special, however my steak was quite seriously undercooked, as you can see from the image. I asked for medium rare and it was very clearly in the rare camp on arrival. Luckily I can eat a steak undercooked (just not overcooked) but for the price that did not meet my expectations, however looking at other reviews this seems to be a common occurrence.

Talking about the price they charge, there is no other way to describe it than offensively overpriced for mediocre food. My friend and I had a medium ribeye each (not Kobe or Wagyu or anything like that), a portion of chips each, one other standard side (again not lobster or monkfish or anything extravagant), 3 glasses of mid range wine and a dessert each, no starters. Imagine our surprise when the bill for this two course midweek meal arrives and we are requested to pay £239.06!!

Interestingly, my husband, who was jealous that I was going out for a steak dinner, decided to visit our local Miller and Carter with his friend on the same evening and had almost exactly the same meal we had. The quality of ingredients was just as good (although the cooking of the steak was more accurate) and they had the same number of similar drinks and courses and their bill came to around £100, nearly 2.5 times less than what Hawksmoor have the cheek to charge.

Just to be clear, the food, service, ambience is NOT worth anywhere near the uplift they expect you to pay for the same food that you can get elsewhere for a fraction of the price. Save your money to enjoy yourself rather than lining the unscrupulous owners and shareholders of Hawksmoor.

Below Average

Ate at Hawksmoor, Manchester for the first time today. We were a party of four. The problems: All four steaks were undercooked. Some aged appearance, yellowed and spotted leaves in the watercress salad. We had asked for a quick service to enable two of us to get back to work on time. Service was slow. Had to repeat the request twice. When the food did arrive, the two who had to return to work had to eat quickly and leave while the other two were still eating. It broke up our group. Things I liked: The chips were excellent. Overall: A steakhouse that fell short, "Below Average".
