We travelled for 28 day trip covering an extensive area from Antarctica, Easter Island and several locations in Chile. We stayed in 10 hotels, used 12 planes, constantly change locations, and were met at each airport by guides and drivers, etc. it was a very complex trip to orchestrate. Jonathan and Deanna did an incredible job planning for everything. The locations we visited, local organizers, food, hotel/boat, were amazing. Any problems that were encountered were quickly resolved and we felt supported throughout the trip.

We had great guides on our tours in Quito. The hotel in Old Town was beautiful. My only suggestion would be that when two single women in their 70s request two twin beds at the hotel that they are never placed in a room with one bed upstairs and one down narrow stairs in the same room with one bathroom to share upstairs. It was very uncomfortable and difficult.

Communication was very good throughout this trip. Our guide Adrian, who picked us up at the airport, was very informative about where we were going and told us he was going to be our tour guide the next day for our Old Town walking tour.
The hotel was very nice but the room arrangement was terrible and I wish we had spoken up right away but we were exhausted from our flights and just made the best of it. Not sure if they could have changed our room or not, maybe all the rooms had that set up, I don’t know. Once we were settled we just made the best of it. We are two single women and asked for two beds but the room was two floors accessible by a spiral staircase to the second bed AND the bathroom that we would be sharing. My friend could not be doing steps to bathroom during the night so I did it. Also not a fan of the no flush toilet paper and they should have cleaned the trash more then once a day.

Adrian’s walking tour and food tasting was wonderful. He is very knowledgeable and spoke very good English which was extremely important.
Following day was the day trip to Cloud Forest. Fabulous trip, nice driver who,did not speak English so a quiet ride. Bellevista was wonderful, fabulous food both breakfast and lunch and outstanding guide.
Adrian picked us up the next morning to go back to airport and again very prompt and helpful getting through check in etc.
Flight to Galapagos fine and connecting with naturalist, Jaime. He is outstanding and we were very fortunate to have him as our guide. Treasure of the Galapagos ship and crew were outstanding. Food was wonderful with plenty of variety of fresh fruit, lots of snacks, fresh fish and assorted menu options. Can’t say enough about how wonderful the crew and Jaime were. It was a busy schedule and they helped us with everything from wetsuits to assistance on and off the dinghy’s. Always happy, smiling and limited English for many. Jaime and Kerly ( cruise director) spoke very good English and were always helpful with all aspects of our cruise. Highly recommend this particular catamaran, Treasure of the Galapagos with its naturalist and the crew.

The best trip our family of four has had over the last 20 years was the one to Antartica arranged by Sountern Explorations. They were very proactive because I didnt have the time to follow up on all the details. They followed up regularly to get 4 kayaking spots which was very hard and toke 1 month of continuous follow up. They arranged the hotels and transport all seamless. I can't thank them enough

We never used a guide service before and we just picked SE off the internet for our trip. We called the office and started chatting with one of the reps and one thing led to another. Pretty quickly we were on our way to the Antarctic. We only had about 6 weeks before we were leaving, and they made everything as easy as possible. We loved our guides, our hotels, the boat, and they have an app that is absolutely wonderful with your entire itinerary on it and needs no internet to access, which is super important, because a lot of the times out and about, you don't have it. We love our guy Jonathan. He was wonderful to work with and great with communication. We had such a great experience with these guys, we are planning on taking another trip this fall to Manchu Pechu, the Amazon and the Galapagos. It really is a lot to try to figure this stuff out on your own. We just loved how seamless they made everything and yet, we never felt like we were on a tour with other people. Our trip was totally unique, amazing and wonderful and we would, obviously, recommend this company for travel to South America!

Great experience! On the Inca Trail, our guide, Jose Luis was outstanding! The group of porters/cooks/assistants made our journey incredible!

Our guide for the W trail was great also! He took care of many small details that made out journey a great one.

It was wonderful to have all of the details worked out and the arrangements made before arrival. It removed a lot of the inherent travel stress. I also really enjoyed having local guides. I learned so much more about the country, the people, and the wildlife! The app was a really handy way to have all of the information in one place, and I appreciated the links to additional reading and suggestions for activities, restaurants, etc

I booked an expedition cruise to Antarctica through Southern Explorations. Deanna was amazing in helping book all the arrangements. I followed all of the recommendations and my trip went very smoothly. If Antarctica is on your list I would definitely use Southern Explorations.

From the very beginning, we had all our questions answered efficiently and in a timely manner. Our itinerary was spot on, and when we arrived in Argentina and subsequently in Chile, all our transportation was on time and the hotels and activities were awesome. They are great to work with

I gave you 5 stars because the trip was well planned and had we not dealt with the hurricane we would have had a better time. My main feedback is that this was my 4th trip there. The trails that we took were extremely bad and poorly selected as to where we landed and where we had to hike to. You surely could have done a better job with that.
