A fantastic, clear and very professional company

Myself and my partner finally purchased a house last October and it came with solar panels already installed, I had no idea about solar panels if truth be told, zero, anyway found out we had no battery, so I was recommended to try and get a battery and after speaking to a number of individuals and companies (Most of which i was not overly impressed by) I came across SMAR. I spoke to Steve and I knew during the call, even though I had not made a decision, that if I was going to get a retro fit battery I had come across the right company even though I had a cheaper quote elsewhere. Steve was brilliant not pushy, did not promise the world when others did and basically told me exactly how it was, totally straight about everything which I really liked, I rang him back a few days later and decided to go for it. Mo came out shortly after and looked at our house and panels to make sure the 12Kwh battery and new inverter could be fitted and all was good, so we paid half as a deposit and then the other half on installation. Louis came around and fitted the equipment a few weeks later and we have it up and running for the last 2 and a half weeks now. Everything in our house is electric, so there is a £88 pound difference between my last bill March and the one I got a few days ago for April with only 2 weeks of battery use too. The equipment works very well and the lads at SMAR i found brilliant to deal with, I found them trustworthy (Something I would not say about everybody I spoke to from other companies) I have already recommended SMAR to a number of people already in my office and the one thing I would say is what you pay is what you get, I got top class service and equipment and if thinking about getting solars or a retro-fit battery make sure you give them a call and speak to them. I have used Solar Maintenance twice. I’ve taken out a guarantee with them and I’m pleased I have. I had a problem when I come back off my holiday. They soon came out and the young man danfixed it in no time I would recommend fakes to anybody. and all the engineers have come I have been very polite very helpful and very friendly.

After two visits from this company, they come across as a knowledgeable helpful and reliable team. Highly recommended.

The company were quick to respond and arranged a day very quickly too. The engineer, Mo, was polite, friendly and not pushy and soon diagnosed our solar panel problem, repairing it the same day.

I was a bit reticent about using a company I didn't know as both the installers of our solar system and the manufacturers have gone bust and it has left me with cold feet. However, Mo from SMAR turned up on time, was very nice and the advice he gave was clear and unabmiguous. He answered more questions on the 'phone after the visit. I will be using SMAR to undertake the work they recommended and feel confident about them.

Dan who came to fix the Gen meter fitted by Solar Paint and Repair was excellent and managed to check and rewire the Generation meter. The the Gen meter was fitted by SMAR in October 2025, it was wired wrong and I paid £149 to a SMAR engineer to come and just tell me everything is OK - so we are likely to get nothing from British Gas for the solar generated by the panels and I had to pay £149 for a meter which was fitted wrongly to begin with. Not very happy with this!

Got in touch with Steve to enquire about having a replacement inverter on our solar system as ours was no longer working…..was given a quote which I agreed on.
He sent Mohamed round to check system and he said it needed replacing and did the replacement straight away ….

Great service, discovered and solved the problem quickly and efficiently

I’d requested a service as I had a “Generation” fault code on the inverter. I met the technician on site and he explained that the inverter was old, inefficient and underperforming and the solution was to replace it at a cost of £1,600. He explained that the new inverter would have a higher voltage, but couldn’t explain how this would benefit my system. I asked in what way it was inefficient as apart from the fault code it’s output was normal, but didn’t get an answer, only that it was old. The technician couldn’t explain what the fault code meant and that it was simpler to replace the inverter as it was old. I said I would think about it and get back to him on my decision. After he left, I turned the inverter back on again and it has operated fine for 2 weeks without the fault code coming back again. Perhaps it just needed a re-boot for a rogue code, rather than a new inverter? So, I paid £150 for them to tell me I needed a new inverter that would cost an additional £1,600, when all I really needed to do was turn it off and on again? I also shared this feedback with the company but got no reply. Disappointing.
