Dangerous and misleading.

The property was not as described. Photos did not match the advert, and were heavily edited to make the property look better than it was, also the property was left in a dangerous condition with exposed live wiring in bathrooms and other issues!

Apparently, maintenance and safety issues should be reported by the person staying at the property, and is not the responsibility of the host to ensure their properties are compliant and as advertised before any one stays in them.

When this was brought up, then the hosts were very dismissive and unfortunately did nothing to resolve the issues.

It was only after raising an official complaint with AirBNB that they were forced to resolve the issue.

They then decided it would be prudent to leave a malicious review in response to their poor management. AirBnB found their review to be malicious and with no merit and removed their review.

So twice they got caught out in underhanded behaviour and made to resolve their issues. I suggest everyone avoids their properties.

Avoid avoid avoid.

Awful customer service and attitude

Avoid this company if they are managing a property, especially if via a 3rd party like air BnB. I had a terrible experience and one of the managers (Mark) has a really insensitive and unprofessional approach. They respond quickly when they’re getting money from you, but ignore when there’s an issue. Then they respond to my feedback with a very generic message taking no accountability for their ridiculous set up and lack of organisation! Yes I locked myself out because the wind slammed the door shut behind me, and you have a one way lock with no spare key!!!

Jennifer was a good guest. Unfortunately she locked herself out of the property at midnight and had to call a locksmith, then tried to claim the cost back from us. Thankfully Airbnb resolved the issue as it was no fault of ours.

The Parlour Caldecott, a little gem

booked this first floor apartment directly through the website. Mark was really helpful and answered all my questions quickly and precisely. All the information to access the property was sent to me 5 days before my stay, as Mark had said. The apartment was lovely, Spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need, and more. There was tea and coffee making facilities available, including milk in the fridge, which was a godsend after our 13 hour journey. The Plough, pub, directly opposite did a fantastic meal and was very reasonably priced. They also had a fantastic alcohol free selection of drinks. Lovely village 5mins drive from the main supermarkets. For me the mattress was a little on the soft side, but i would not mark the property down for this as for the next person it could be too firm. I will definitely stay again and would highly recommend. Thank you Mark and your amazing team.View less

My wife and I stayed at this property…

My wife and I stayed at this property and we will regret it for a while. We even moved out early.
Theres a lot to say about this property and company.
For a start, they simply don’t care about maintaining their properties. I say properties because if you read all the reviews on the others properties, you’ll see there’s a trend of poor and concerning reviews.
I also wanna say that me and my wife tried contacting the owner about the issues in this house and they weren’t helpful one bit, they simply didn’t show any interest in caring about the service they are providing. Didn’t even bother responding.

1. The house was absolutely filthy, so disgusting that we had to clean. There were cabinets caked with dirt and grease, the bins had cigarettes in them that made the house smell awful. The house itself smelt so lived in, in general. It’s as if the house was never cleaned once.
2. It was a mess, random clothes stuffed in corners as if they couldn’t be arsed getting rid of anything. The carpets had large stains, which we were told about before we moved in, however I don’t understand why it was not dealt with before we got there. It didn’t matter anyway because the carpets were disgusting either way, we didn’t want the stains removed at that point. The furniture, especially in the kitchen, was so run down that it was impossible to feel clean around it. Also the kitchen cooking utensils were all nasty, clearly not replaced since buying them many years ago. My wife and I had to buy all new utensils and pans to just cook a meal. The kettle was caked with grease too as well as the toaster. The blinds in the kitchen and bathroom were all stained too. The back door wouldn’t lock properly, had to try it several times every time I need to lock it. All the lights in the house would flicker and the living room chairs were very flimsy.

Everything was just so worn and greasy, everything. Made it so hard to feel clean living there.
3. We asked for the garden grass to be cut because we have a small dog that gets really wet in tall grass. Well, they came and cut it but it was done so poorly that there was no grass left. It was just mud. Having it rain for the next few days after that, made the back garden a slushy mess.
4. The bathroom shower was alright pressure wise, however there was stains on the floor of the bathroom and after some time I realised it was a hole that leads to the downstairs toilet. So every time I would shower the water would drip down the hole and out the downstairs toilet ceiling light, which is a huge problem. The glass panel to stop the water going in the floor was shit.
5. I didnt see one fire alarm in the house, not one.
6. The washing machine was so nasty, it had mold in the glass screen door and loads of mold in the cleaning liquid container you open at the top. I had to take my clothes every weekend to my parents house. See attached photos.
7. The smell of the house itself was so bad, I don’t know why. It’s as if smokers lived there and nothing was ever cleaned fully. We had to buy 10 airfreshners and candles to be able to live there.

All in all, the house was shit. Don’t spend your money on this company. They don’t care and won’t help you feel comfortable, if you read the other reviews on other platforms they make that very clear. There’s reviews about them accusing the tenants of damaging things on the first day of arrival. There’s reviews about theft and privacy violations. My wife was creeped out reading them.

Not sure wheather to feel violated or…

Not sure wheather to feel violated or not. In the sense of, did someone come into the property whilst we were out or not.

The bins were taken from the garden and put out in the front and back into garden once they were emptied.
The neighbours have stated they didn’t do this.
And Mark has stated he doesn’t live close by so he didn’t do it, so we can only assume it’s the person who lives in the property when it’s not been rented out.

As it seems that some of our stuff was moved inside the property on the day the bins went out.
We were given no prior warning that this would take place.

When we tried to book via Airbnb, Mark would reply but it was slow. When we texted him, we found he wouldn’t reply for a day or two. Unless we promoted him .
We didn’t find Mark friendly or welcoming.
We wouldn’t have booked given our first conversation with him and his unfriendliness, but we had no other choice as everything else was gone.

We visited the property for Christmas and there was no welcome basket with food as per what the photos would have you believe , no Christmas decorations, let alone at Christmas tree.

To pay £85 for the cleaning fee is very expensive and the house was clean to a point, but not that clean to warrant £85 spent when the previous Occupants left.

The house looks nothing like the professional photos taken. The sofa is also tiny and different to photos. Everything from curtains to bedding, towels to ornaments, plates etc are all from Asda. Everything in the property is very very cheap..

The area was dreadful, I’ve never seen so many drug addicts and alcoholics in one area, to be fair everywhere in Doncaster was awful. Full of drug addicts and loudmouth people who like to argue and fight on the street and sit around on the street drinking and taking drugs.

The garden wasn’t clean in some areas. It had two huge piles of fallen leaves just next to the back door on each side with room to walk through it.

The bathroom shower door kept coming off and we had to fix it.

The beds were rock hard, to the point that your back absolutely aches when you wake up. they were the worst beds I’ve or we have ever slept in.

It doesn’t mention that the house is on a dual carriageway, so it’s noisy all day and night regardless of the time of day. So loud. Even with the windows closed.
Police and ambulance drive past at least 10 plus times a day. Every day even after midnight. All day and night. We counted.

if you are a bad driver or you’re a nervous driver be warned, you have to wait for no traffic on the dual cabbage way, so you can reverse into the front garden. but don’t reverse all the way back or to the left hand side of car because you will damage your car. As there is an unnecessary wall design thing around a tiny patch of grass.

They had some of the utensils you could need, but didn’t have the ones that are handy such as a potato masher and the oven baking trays were filthy and you couldn’t clean the filth off. So it’s pointless then being there..

Most things are within walking distance. Depends what you want to do..

There were no hand towels in the bathroom, we were provided two shower towels each and used one of them as the bathroom hand towel. And one dish cloth towel

The neighbour on your left isn’t friendly at all. He won’t even say hello to you if you say hello to him.
The neighbour on the right didn’t speak either, and you can hear her kids screaming through the walls.

The TV is an absolute nightmare. There are no channels on the TV. No live tv at all.
You have to watch everything via catch up and ITV in particular is the worst. The Wi-Fi was so slow, the TV would just buffer for five minutes plus and then you may have to turn the TV off to start again or the TV would just freeze constantly and buffer constantly no matter which app you were in.. couldn’t watch live TV it was all catch up. Even to pause a program. Whilst you make a cup of tea, it took me more than 10 minutes and I ended up turning the TV off and having to start again . You would press the pause button, and it was so slow to listen to the command, so you would press it again and again. And when it did eventually paused it would unpause within a second, and you’d have to pause it again when it paused it, and then it would unpause again within a second. Press pause and you will wait around 3 minutes for it to work.

The garden light didn’t work when you needed it at night time. There was nowhere to sit in the garden..

Sofa was comfortable, but wasn’t the sofa that was in the photo and it was tiny, two people at best.

The hot water is extremely hot to be careful.

I would not recommend this property, nor would I go back

AVOID!! THEY ARE THIEFS

I stayed at the property in Corby, for 3months, as I waited for the completion of my house.
It was a perfect stay, however on leaving I accidentally left some items, inc a necklace.

Mark contacted me, and said I could collect the bag from him! 11 months later, he has failed to make arrangements with me, to collect.

In September 2023, my daughter (14) made a purchase from PLT. She did not check the delivery address, and it was sent to 8 Shackleton Close. I drove up to the property, as I had confirmation it had been delivered (a picture was provided).

No one was at the property, but the item had been left in the back garden.
It wasn’t there, so I left a note…

A lady called me, and said she would meet me to collect the item. She said her daughter was moving house, and had been staying at 8 Shackleton Close.

I called this woman to make arrangements, to collect the package. She text me and said she had Covid, and her daughter was in hospital.

She said she would put it in the post, so I have her my address (text).

After 2 weeks had passed, I text her and asked if she had put it in the post. She had blocked me!

I then used my daughter phone, and sent her a message. I asked her why she had blocked me, and asked where the package was!!

She said she gave it to Mark, after she stopped working for them!
The cleaner had taken my package from the property.

It is now November!!

I contacted Mark on the 6th November 2023, he said he would look into it.
It’s now the 9th November, and he is not answering my calls, or text.

It is disappointing that this has happened, especially when I paid over £10k, to stay at this property, for 3months.

THEY ARE THIEFS, AVOID!!

Dirty, Creepy & Broken

If you’re thinking about staying with a SIX MJ property don't, please read this first. All pictures of proof are attached to our booking site review.

My partner and I had been in the apartment all of 5 minutes when I opened one of the kitchen cupboards and the fake draw attached to it fell off. The owner of this property, Mark, asked us to give him a message to let him know once we were in the apartment, which i then did, and I also sent him a photo of the broken cupboard, not to complain (which in hindsight probably would have gotten me further) but to just let me know so he didn’t think we’d done it as we’d only been in the apartment 20 minutes at most at this point. An hour later I get a message from Mark accusing us of breaking it and he sent me some photos that his cleaner sent him the day before to ‘prove’ it was fine when she was there. Now this photo CLEARLY shows the fake draw part hanging off which I then told Mark, telling him I didn’t appreciate being accused when it’s clearly broken in the photos that he couldn’t be bothered to look at. He then proceeded to ignore what I had said and mansplain that it wasn’t a real draw, for whatever reason and after a few more messages told me he’s “willing to move past this without blaming the previous guest, the cleaner” or me (oh how very noble of him!) I told him I would be leaving a bad review and told him he was rude and blocked him on WhatsApp.

He then jumped on booking.com to have another go, sending me screenshots of the messages he’d tried to send me on WhatsApp after I blocked him, trying to tell me that when I told him he’d be getting a bad review, that it’s apparently a form of blackmail in poor Marks eyes. He also sent a message with another screenshot (he really loves those) telling me to tell my “guests” (only me and my partner were there) not to touch things they aren’t suppose to. This is referring to a smart device that is pointed DIRECTLY AT THE BED and looks a lot like a camera. My partner touched it and it started lighting up like an Alexa does, so obviously we were very concerned and checked it out, and Mark gets notifications any time someone touches it, as he showed me. I replied to him on booking.com, but never heard back, possibly because his ego was too bruised at this point.

Other issues. The heater in the bedroom was not even wired in so it was unusable (despite it being included in the guide you get given about the apartment) and the apartment was freezing cold for the entire time we were there as the 2 other thin radiators did little to nothing unless you were 2 feet away from them. The hallway floor was filthy with something white (yuck). One of the plug sockets had something brown on it. The latch for the door is attached to a thin piece of wood and the nails have been ripped out so the latch does absolutely nothing. The keys you get for the apartment have an Apple air tag on them so Mark can track every move you make and if you take it off then Mark will know because there is a camera directly outside the apartment door. We had 2 small towels for the 2 of us, no hand towel of tea towel and the decor was overall tacky and badly done, nothing like the photos. The area was also awful, and it is a top floor apartment with the other 4 apartments having tenants in them that live there.

I strongly suggest you don’t support this man as the obsession with smart tech and knowing where you are and what you’re doing at all times is just creepy and with the way he reacted to me letting him know a cupboard was broken all added up to my partner and myself feeling very uncomfortable the entire time. I hope nobody else is unfortunate enough to deal with Mark.

100% recommend

100% recommend, we had a fantastic stay here, felt right at home. The flat Was sparkling clean and very cosy so we felt right at home. The location is amazing, so many restaurants, local shops, an independent bakery and greengrocer in the high street and nice walks along the river. Very comfortable large bed and a great modern shower. Mark was a fantastic host and responded to all our queries immediately, and even brought over extra towels etc- much appreciated! We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back!

Brilliant accommodation and customer service

We had such an enjoyable stay at Mark’s place, everything was perfect, the kitchen and shower were 1st class and it felt very homely, with everything you could need. Higham Ferrers itself is quaint and quiet with all the local amenities within walking distance. Mark was quick to respond, very welcoming and so lovely.

A gorgeous home away from home in a…

A gorgeous home away from home in a beautiful English town. The apartment was spotlessly clean and well-stocked with everything you could need. Fantastic host who was friendly, communicative and couldn’t do enough to ensure that we had a comfortable stay. By far my favourite Air BnB experience so far. Highly recommended!
