I ordered dusky pink bathroom paint because it looked gorgeous on the pics. However it was more like hot pink. Silly me carried on and painted the whole room hoping it might lighten as it dries. Nope... Leggi di più

The chalky floorpaint looked lovely - until it began to scuff and peel. When I reported this the first time there was little response and no suggestion as to what to do, so I repainted (not easy in a... Leggi di più
Paint was easy to use. I painted kitchen floor tiles. So far it is reasonably resilient. Pretty pleased with results. Has transformed the room.

ASBESTOS WARNING
I would like to make others aware that Rustoleum Paint Products that contain Hydrous Magnesium Silicate (TALC) recently have had the warning, "Constituents may also contain asbestiform or non-asbestiform tremolite", added to their Safety Data Sheets.
After repeated attempts over several months to their support department to understand what "asbestiform and non-asbestiform tremolite" means, I was given a PR response indicating they have no control from their supplier to providing "asbestiform free" raw materials. Again repeatedly asking them to define "Asbestiform", I finally received an answer that they will not provide any further support or definition to what "asbestiform or non-asbestiform tremolite" is.
By assumption, Asbestiform typically means Asbestos. In this case, "TREMOLITE ASBESTOS". Rustoleum is potentially selling you an incredibly lethal form of Asbestos in their products. I would stay clear from any paint from this company or others that contain Talc in their paints. Unfortunately, I sanded their product many years ago to make a smooth surface for a final coat of paint in my sons bedroom. They advertise many of the products they sell, including the one I used, as sand-able. I am incredibly worried about our families safety now.
The poor support, lack of care for assuring safety of their customers and continued avoidance of my question is incredibly discouraging.
Disappointing result from both the paint and customer service
I purchased a tin of white Rust-Oleum paint for a kitchen revamp as the results in store looked impressive. I followed the instructions on the tin to clean, sand and leave 16 hours between coats. The first coat went on fine, the following day I applied the 2nd coat and it started to crackle. I thought that the paint just needed to settle but the cracked finish was still there after the allotted drying time. I contacted Rust-Oleum to see if they could give me any advice and after 6 emails I actually gave up. Their only concern seemed to be the receipt rather than supporting a customer. I have stopped using the paint now and will continue using another well known brand that is actually cheaper to complete the task.
Rustoleum’s Chalk Paint - not fit for purpose has ruined a wall and wasted a lot of time & money
Really really unhappy and disappointed with this company- I wanted to create a chalk pen wall in my kitchen - I did my research and having been very impressed with their products choose to us Rustoleum I am a very experienced painter and have very high quality rollers I followed the instructions and I have to say my concern started when I had to spend ages mixing the paint as it was separated in a clear liquid and a blob of what looked like PVA glue - long story short it went on so badly even though I’d mixed it I did the two coats with plenty of drying time and the next day I was hoping it would dry clear and work - nope dried like I’d painted actual glue on my wall and to make this situation even more frustrating the chalk pen doesn’t rub off even with soapy water. I have contacted Rustoleum directly no response the paint under this awful product will now need repainting so not only have I wasted a day I’ll now need to pitch more paint and spend more time on this I am really not happy to not chase them and ask for some form of compensation their paint is not as advertised- certainly not fit for purpose- please be warned - either this was a once of bad batch or this product should not be sold
Terrible ,painted straight on it…
Terrible ,painted straight on it says, reacted, had to strip it all off ,cost many a lost hours ,yes was prepped right
Never again
Awful paint…don’t waste your time or money
Can’t believe I’ve wasted hours painting furniture with this paint. The colour (sand black) was lovely and coated reasonably well with two coats but it chips off with the slightest touch. I sanded the furniture well before application but it’s made no difference. I’m now going to have to start again with another product!!!! Super frustrating. Don’t waste your money!
Ordered the gloss finish furniture…
Ordered the gloss finish furniture paint to paint my old fashioned dressing table, it came very quick and was packaged perfectly. I bought this as it said no sanding was required as it would paint over varnished furniture. It is very runny and I was dubious, but after 2 coats it looked amazing and I only used half the tin so I am now going to do my bedside tables
Good paint good service
Had a drama with final coat clear rustoleum were first class in service
Can't use rest of paint in cans
I have used dozens of Rustoleum spray paints of all kinds, and there isn't anything wrong with the paint itself. The problem is that when you take out a partially used can a year later to use it again, it almost never works.
No, it's not a clogged nozzle (although I have found you can no longer clear nozzles by holding the can upside down); it's something about the tube. This rarely happened with paints decades ago (in those days you COULD rescue a can with a clean nozzle); I believe it has something to do with new cans you can supposedly use upside down, etc. People complain about it online all the time, and some people clear them out with compressed air--which I don't happen to have.
This is completely unacceptable. Of course Rustoleum claims it is because the nozzle is clogged (not true, since I have put new nozzles on), but if they really believed that, they would include a few extra nozzles with each can; they're probably a couple of cents each (if that), and could fit inside the lid. They'd get a lot of brownie points for that. But they don't. Because it's not the nozzle.
Finally I got so fed up with throwing away nearly full cans of paint that I emailed Rustoleum and demanded a refund. They told me to photograph the cans, so I put them all in a stack and photographed them, and without much more ado, got back almost $100 for 13 cans.
I had assumed that I probably couldn't return cans that were years old, but Rustoleum said we can return any can that isn't working, so in the future I plan to copy and/or save the receipts and take back all bad cans, no matter how much later it is and no matter now little paint is left. If the stores won't accept them, then I will get the refunds from Rustoleum again. I'm sick of paying for paint I can't use.
False Promise with "No Peel Promise"
This was the worst experience we have had with Rust -Oleum product to date. Built a new shop, 30ft x 50ft and brand new concrete floor. Put their epoxy floor coating on it with the "no peel promise" and it is peeling up every time I park anything on it. Back and forth with customer service and I still have a floor with epoxy peeling off of it. Waste of over $1200
Definitely will not recommend this product to anyone.
I won’t buy this again!
This is my first time using Rust-Oleum and I only bought it as I couldn’t get the colour in my usual chalk paint. I sanded down an old pine chest of drawers and cleaned off. Applied the paint and I have to say, compared to my usual brand, the application is awful. Although it looks a good consistency, it seems to drag and it’s almost like it dries too quickly so when you brush back and forth, it creates ‘bits’ or bubbles. It’s really odd as the surface has no varnish, no previous paint, no wax. So, not wanting to give up, I scotched it and went in for a second coat which was worse! So thick! And exactly the same thing happened. I’ll stick to my usual brand in future and sorry I won’t buy this brand again. I’ve wasted too much time on it……and money!

Order arrived quickly
Lovely colour, was easy to paint via brush and roller.
Has transformed my kitchen.
Would recommend this paint for kitchen.
Awful furniture paint
Awful furniture paint, as the colour claims to be 'slate' grey, which on the tin looks like a medium warm grey, yet it comes out as a light purpley blue grey and very lilac! Terrible colour as it clashes with modern decor!
Doesn't dry properly either and always feels moist
Ignore the claims - it’s not an easy paint
Part way through painting a kitchen with this. I’ve previously hand built two wooden kitchens, and repainted a third, but decided to revamp an existing DIY store kitchen at our new place rather than replacing it.
The good bits: stunning colour, and once dry it has a lovely soft sheen and looks lovely.
The honest / bad bits: a) you can’t paint it on directly as claimed - I did several test patches and it peels off. You need to sand off any commercial lacquer first. b) after sanding off the lacquer, it still scratches easily, so you will need to prime the surface first (which also improves the colour luminosity. c) and this is the worst bit - it’s thin and very runny. Not sure what the people saying they got one coat coverage we’re using, but you need at least five coats to get any even coverage - I’m applying six or seven (I seem to need more on the doors than the kitchen carcasses). It also needs to be bone dry before applying each coat, or you end up pulling the paint off!
The thinness, subsequent need to be constantly vigilant for drips, and multiple applications mean that in the time it would have taken me to paint almost all the kitchen, I’m barely a quarter of the way in - but I’m half way through the tins I ordered, which wouldn’t be the case with a quality eggshell needing fewer coats!
It’ll look good I’m sure, and I can’t yet comment on its performance long term, but I found both eggshell or chalk paint and wax on wooden kitchens was way easier to use.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service!
Ordered paint. Didn’t turn up. No way of chasing other than via email. Same response of ‘it’s on its way’ every time but not able to give me information on when or how to track. Very disappointed
No issue with kitchen paint
I have had a couple of recent orders for kitchen cabionet paint - it arrived quickly each time and is well packaged although the price has gone up in between orders
I have only tried the kitchen cabinet paint which seems good so far.
I don't know what happened but it was a…
I don't know what happened but it was a bit of a paint shortage here a year ago or so it ever since then it's nothing but water in a can this stuff runs like freaking water one of the worst paints I've ever seen rustoleum used to be a great brand now it is pure garbage
Second order from Rust Oleum
Second order from Rust Oleum and delivery has been prompt and well packed. I love the kitchen cabinet paint it is great to use and looks fabulous.
‘Next day delivery’ didn’t turn up!
This is a rating for the company and not the paint. Ordered 3x cupboard paint from the website on Thursday with next day delivery. It didn’t turn up on Friday and I emailed the company around 3:30pm to ask where it was as the tracking info said it was ‘not found’. They didn’t reply. Don’t say it’s next day delivery when it you can’t deliver! I needed it for the weekend, should have just gone to B&Q.
GARBAGE
Tge spray version of this paint has to be the worst product on the planet it splutters all over the place and is next to impossible to use it is absolutely awful don't go near it..
So helpful
I had bought this glitter paint, glitter spray paint, couple of months ago and when I use it wouldn't spray.. called the Rust-Oleum number sent me reimbursement! Awesome!
