The store has gone down the pan

The store has gone down the pan. The stock is filthy the fish tanks are filthy the roof leaks all over the place and they seem to have stopped stocking hozelock products and the prices are ridiculous. I ordered double the amount of filters online for half the price. Disappointing as it used to be a good place.

Excellent place.

Excellent place with just about everything you could require for your aquarium whether it’s fresh or saltwater.
Large variety of livestock and the staff are very knowledgeable.

Great customer service I got in touch…

Great customer service I got in touch as I was looking for a new koi I wanted one that was quiet unusual white with red marking on its head the guys soon got back in touch with me to say they had got one in and would reserve it for me until it was ready to go really excellent customer service looking forward to picking it up thank you guys for a great job

We have been to perfect aquatics since Anthony has taken over and have found it to be a lovely place with a great set up. We have some beautiful fish in the pond from here and are going down on the weekend to collect two more. Staff was very helpful helping us find a pond heater too. Thank you.

I would advise anyone to reconsider if…

I would advise anyone to reconsider if you are looking to buy live stock. Purchased one tang & 2 dwarf angels. Within a matter of days all 3 have passed away and have now contaminated our tank with an unknown disease which is slowly wiping out our well established 750 gallon tank!! Absolutely devastated and I will NEVER shop here again. Have completely destroyed our souls and love for the hobby. Our first ever clown we owned passed away yesterday and it’s just absolutely devastating. These are our pets!!! Do better!!!! Clearly not quarantining new stock before selling which means they are riddled with parasites!! We cannot use copper in our tank as we have a mix reef with corals & inverts. we now have the impossible task of attempting to catch all of our remaining surviving fish to attempt to treat them and give them a chance of survival and to fallow the tank for 6 weeks to rid us of whatever disease you are spreading!!! Mortified!!!!!

The manager is arrogant and abrupt…

The manager is arrogant and abrupt which we have witnessed many times, however we decided to return being our local Aquatic Centre and bought some fish to add to our long established tank a week ago, they've all died and brought a disease into the tank which has killed off several other fish, going to have to talk to a proper specialist about our problem. I would avoid this place.

Woeful Web Shop

Perfect Aquatics has proven to be a disappointment on two occasions now. Their stock management system is atrocious, and they cannot be relied upon to despatch web orders. On two separate occasions, I have placed an order on their website that claimed next working day despatch. After my first order, it was over a week before I emailed them to find out what was happening, and was told that the item wasn't in stock and that the web store doesn't know the stock in the physical store. That's a poor system, but forgivable if communication with customers is good. Alas, it is not, and I had to go out of my way to chase the order to find out the status. I was then refunded. I recently decided to give Perfect Aquatics another try, hoping that my issues experienced the first time were a one off. They were not. Once again, no forthcoming communication, leaving me to chase the status, to which I short a short and non-commital reply, followed again a week later by a refund. If you need a product in the same decade as you order it, avoid Perfect Aquatics.

Disgusting cafe

Disgusting cafe. We here to get a bite to eat after looking at the fish and was extremely disappointed. The tables were unclean ( hadn’t been wiped down) the walls were dirty with smears of handprints and food. The lady at the till was not welcoming in the slightest & the allergen choices are minute. I noticed there were ice creams with printed allergens on the labels but they had crossed out the name of the flavour and changed it to a different name so therefore the allergen status was invalid. This is an accident waiting to happen. (Anaphylaxis is life threateningly dangerous and this cafe has not got controlled allergens!) I ordered a chicken salad that was just awful. Chicken was cheap and overall gross. I could t even eat with the cutlery as every knife and fork hadn’t been washed properly. There was either bits of food left on them or covered in smears. I wouldn’t recommend this cafe to my worse enemy. I’d like my money back and would be interested to know there food hygiene rating

So bad!

Ordered an item, wrong item sent, they collected the wrong item and never sent the correct item, I am now £45 down as I believed them that they would send the correct item and closed the PayPal dispute as they instructed, do not use, so not trust.

Edited to add I finally got a refund notification today after several months.

Not impressed by the customer service

Not impressed by the customer service, shabby store and lack of knowledge of some of the staff, although I realise everyone has to start somewhere on their learning curve.
I have been an occasional customer for the past couple of years and each time I visited, I came away more and more disappointed with the place. After last time, when it was near impossible to find a member of staff willing to help, I've decided not to bother going back. I used to be in favour of supporting local fish shops, but I can see the benefits of online purchases from reputable suppliers.

Placed an order on 13th Feb

Placed an order on 13th Feb - which was confirmed and paid for - advised 5-7 days for delivery.
After 7 days I checked back and discovered Perfect Aquatics had cancelled the order 2 days earlier without any reason or notification being provided.
I e mailed to ask why this was cancelled and why no notification was sent of cancelling - that was now 10 days ago so it seems they cannot be bothered to reply.
All very frustrating and disappointing. Will not be using again if this is their level of customer service

Delivered a smashed tank

Ordered a tank in their black Friday sales - it was dispatched and delivered quickly (which is why the 2 stars).
Unfortunately, the tank was shipped in just the box you'd find it in, in the shop - with no extra packaging or protection. As you can imagine, it arrived completely smashed.
I've emailed now 3 times about a refund and no response, their website says they won't accept any returns unless already agreed so now I'm stuck with a big smashed tank and no refund to buy a replacement birthday present.

Really sad to read Micks review and the…

Really sad to read Micks review and the lack of cleanliness causing the death of his fish. I definitely won’t be returning as I can’t risk my live stock having heard this. The new management seem to have ruined the reputation of the place and have no effective controls in place. Probably more effective if they spent as much time on their tropical fish and store/ cleanliness as they do on their social media focusing on Koi!

Thanks for the reply. Apologies this isn’t personal as I don’t know the ins and outs of changes or who new management is. I am aware there was mention of new management and my review is based of past experience vs now. I have no personal bias of any sort here. My second was a response to the other review. I’m sorry if that’s not the right way to respond to another user on this forum and I’m also sorry you feel a genuine review just because it holds a negative view would be with any agenda. I care and love fish and it was important for me to share my experience.

It is good to see the process changes and what has been done and perhaps it isn’t visible from what I and others have seen and it saddens me to see such losses being reported and damage to marine life.

I do however appreciate your response and trust that you will also take time to review the processes and their effectiveness given the feedback you have had.

I will perhaps revisit in the future and see if things have improved. I would welcome meeting and discussing things at that time.

Sorry, I have never met you nor do I know of you. This is the first time we have spoken and frankly it seems quite curt to turn this into such an accusatory and personal attack.

I most definately will not be returning if you feel it’s acceptable to speak to customers in this manner.

I am flabbergasted that one would take such a disturbing approach that’s left me quite confused overall.

Hi David Williams, Anthony here. It seems that there maybe a personal issue here as you have now commented twice on the new management within the store. It is also clearly pointed towards me in the latter part of your review so please let me reply to your derogatory personal review.

Since my taking on my position there has been numerous changes, allow me to give you some of those.

1. Our Trops and Marine Manager - new appointed has a MSc and BSc in Marine and Tropical Biology. Nobody better suited to look after the health of our fish.

2. Koi Department - Additional staffing including an assistant manager has been implemented to ensure better customer service. Furthermore, we can focus on fish health without interruption which benefits both customers and our fish.

3. I have also appointed a digital marketing and social manager - another department that has moved from strength to strength since being made the Head of Operations. Internet sales and social media are one of the many areas that is required today. Without it companies can fail.

4. Training Schedules have been introduced, fully documented and signed off. Again allowing a better customer experience and confidence when seeking advice. This is also integrated with some of our major brands.

5. We have just passed our annual inspection from the council. Who have granted us a five star licence, again! The inspector was accompanied by a VET whom conducted health checks and documentation inspections of various items. Nothing was raised as a concern either which shows our standards and practices are high.

Above are just some of the changes i have implemented since my appointment. The store is also getting a refurbishment, as it is looking its age (30yrs old) and there are some exciting redevelopment works being conducted in November too.

The marine system is also having a completely new filtration system fitted that will be on show to the public. We have not spared any cash on it either. If you cared to look us up on facebook you can see for yourself. The tropical systems have also had a recent filtration refurbishment running of individual systems all of which are warmed with air source heat pumps ... again nothing but the best.

All of this is just a few months of appointment .......

So rather than make personal comments about me and my managerial abilities that are not true see what positive changes have been made here. I personally invite you down so I can show you and hopefully install more confidence in you returning because we are the best. Hi David, thank you for your response. When negative comments are made i of course will look at trying to make that a positive if they are at all true. You make comments aimed towards me without actually knowing me or meeting me. I do have a social following and i do have a passion for Koi but that doesn't retract from managing a business. I have the most professional approach with over 16yrs managerial experience and many more years in the military before that. So to bring the following statement into account:

- This is your opinion, written by you but I will challenge your statement on the fact you have made this without actually knowing anything about what I've done or who i am.

Visited on 25th September with devastating results

Visited on 25th September. Went in cafe for breakfast and was disappointed by lack of cleanliness and the staff weren't that friendly. Husbands breakfast ok my veggie one not so the egg was burnt they had no bubble and squeak and the veggie sausage was just batter filled with veg (for breakfast !). The Toilet was absolutely stinking !! The actual shop was messy although the pond stock was very good the shop just looked shabby and unloved.We waited ages for service and then purchased 18 Tropical fish (I didnt like the way they were handled)spent £111 only to find that within 24 hours 2 had died and then 48 hours more anotherand so on I now only have 5 left of the original 18 I purchased and I may loose more unfortunately whatever is wrong with these fish has also taken out 6 of my original fish and my baby platys. No obvious disease on the fish and were added to a perfectly thriving tank and I have been keeping Tropicals for over 20 years. I have contacted the shop by e mail but they haven't answered me. I will keep trying and if I get nothing I will visit again but not to purchase fish.

I cant praise Anthony and the pond dept…

I cant praise Anthony and the pond dept highly enough.
He always makes time to run through choosing fish, filters etc.
I am new to the koi hobby, so confidence and reassurance are highly important to me which Anthony installs.
All the fish have been in tip top condition and grown really well this summer.
I travel a couple of hours to the shop which illustrate my support.
