Poor quality furniture and even worse customer service

We ordered two Alva open wardrobes and after constructing the first one realised the quality was very poor with problematic dowels, peeling vinyl strips and the drawer unit was damaged in one corner.

Customer service advised they would not refund us for this purchase even though we felt it was unfit for purpose. They offered replacement parts which we did not want as the overall quality was so poor.

They also requested £35 to return the second unit that had not been opened and would not waive this even as a good will gesture due to their "standard return terms".

I would avoid this company at all costs and spend a little more money with a more reputable one. We gave the units to charity in the end after a long email exchange that was going nowhere.

We're very sorry to read that you were disappointed with your experience.

We do kindly ask customers to thoroughly inspect all components before beginning to assemble to help prevent any potential further inconvenience. As the first unit had been built using damaged parts, our resolution in line with our policy was to offer replacement parts to bring the item back to perfect condition. We completely understand that this was not the outcome you were hoping for, but this is the process we follow when parts are reported as damaged after assembly.

With regards to the second unit, as it was delivered as described with no manufacturing faults or damage reported, this falls under our change of mind returns policy. As outlined in our terms, there is a minimum return charge of £35 to cover the collection and handling costs. While we appreciate this may feel frustrating, we do have policies and procedures that must be applied consistently.

We are genuinely sorry that you felt dissatisfied with the service provided and that we were unable to reach a resolution that suited you. We do appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

Most of the time I struggle to assemble…

Most of the time I struggle to assemble the furniture but instructions to assemble was simple and straightforward and I managed easily and the quality of items is good.

Great service and product

Great service, from the initial order, the communication was great, the price was cheaper then some larger companys, the sideboard came fully assembled and is very well built, customer service is spot on, the product is spot on, highly recommend them

Very Good Customer Service

Ordered a couple of clothes rail hangers. They arrived promptly and though a bit of a faff erecting one of them (drawer unit) they are exactly as I wanted. There was a problem with one of the panels which had some corner damage. However this was very speedily and professionally dealt with by Katie and a new panel received within a couple of days so no complaints from me.

Brought a gorgeous sofa

Brought a gorgeous sofa front this company and they have been absolutely amazing throughout the experience it wasn’t all plane sailing due to suppliers being very very slow at getting the sofa shipped out it took just shy of 2 weeks to get it dispatched and then a planned delivery date from SGK distribution which didn’t exactly go smoothly either but the gentleman I’ve been speaking with called will has been an absolute legend in helping me get it all sorted and delivered he has done amazing also with dealing with me constantly calling and emailing aswell I also want to thank Katie for also helping aswell I do think the suppliers need to sort out there response times as they were not quick at responding to get it all sorted delivery night came and sofa was delivered and I’m in love the delivery lads were very polite and respected inside my property but not so much outside, they broke 3 or 4 solar lights and left my front door wide open and drove off didn’t tell me so my front door was wide open while I was in front room sorting sofa out ( I have complex PTSD and severe anxiety disorder) so as u can imagine caused some distress all in all owns company have been absolutely fantastic hence why I’m giving 5 stars but as for the suppliers and the delivery company they get 3 stars thank u so much OWNS company I will definitely buy from u again and recommend u to friends and family I also want to point out that after all that stress will deserves a raise especially dealing with my daily calls

Very good customer service

Very good customer service. Had issues with a side panel for the wardrobe damaged in one of the 3 boxes and then a replacement side panel damaged by the delivery company. Customer service always responded quickly with solutions throughout the issue we had.

I ordered two bedside tables (£52…

I ordered two bedside tables (£52 each). One turned out to be faulty during assembly due to a misaligned drawer, despite following the instructions. The other was never opened and remained in its original box.
Instead of taking responsibility for a faulty product, I was told I’d have to pay for replacement parts and then if I wanted to return it I’d be charged £35 which is completely unreasonable given the cost of the products. Charging £35 to return a £52 item is disproportionate, and trying to apply this charge even when one item is faulty is unacceptable.
Customer service was rigid, dismissive, and more focused on shifting blame than resolving the issue fairly. I would strongly advise anyone considering ordering from this company to think twice if something goes wrong, don’t expect them to help.

The charge for the replacement parts was advised because the damage occurred during assembly, which unfortunately is not covered under the product warranty. We do always try to assist where possible, but assembly-related damage falls outside of manufacturing faults.

We'd also like to clarify the return fee for the unopened bedside table. As this item was delivered as described and no manufacturing fault was reported, it falls under a change-of-mind return. Our returns policy clearly outlines a minimum £35 return charge in these circumstances, which reflects the costs involved in collection and handling through our insured couriers, but you are more than welcome to return this yourself and this will be refunded pending inspection.

We're sorry that you're disappointed with the service provided. Our team always aims to be fair and transparent, but we do have policies and procedures that must be followed consistently.

So far fantastic

Great customer service

I submitted a large furniture order,as an after thought I enquired about the premier delivery service. Absolutely thrilled that this service was offered free of charge following my enquiry, this elminates a big worry as the furniture will now be taken to the room of choice in my home. No struggling up the stairs, on my own with large items. Wonderful customer service :-)

Dresser return and refund - great experience

We ordered a dresser from Own Furniture in September 2025. The dresser unfortunately arrived damaged and so we had to arrange for a return and a refund. Despite this, Katie was very helpful and helped us arrange a pick-up and a refund which was processed promptly. We really appreciated the communicative and transparent way in which the return and refund were handled.
