Absolutely love Olio
Absolutely love Olio. Times are hard and wastage is awful. Makes a huge difference to be able to pick some bits up to bridge the gap. Also fantastic to be able to pass stuff on that you won't use but someone else would love!

A really great app
A really great app. I love the sustainability aspect, sharing what I don’t need and giving it to someone who actually wants it. It’s great for decluttering sustainably. I ve also picked up some useful things myself for free. The map allows you to see how local it is when you are deciding to ask for something.

Good idea ruined with ads
Brilliant app, brilliant idea.
Now totally ruined with adverts. Watching a 60 second advert after each and every request is overkill and by the time you've watch three ads the other goodies have gone. Waste of time trying to secure food now.
I can't be alone thinking you've overdone the ads, whilst you may need them, they are too long and too frequent and make the app totally unusable

Thank you so much for your feedback and for your kind words about the idea behind Olio. We’re really sorry to hear that the adverts have made the app feel frustrating or difficult to use. We completely understand how disappointing it can be to miss out on items while waiting for an ad to finish.
Ads are one of the ways we’re able to keep Olio free for everyone and continue running and improving the platform. We are constantly taking feedback into consideration and reviewing the ad experience to make sure we’re striking the right balance between sustainability and usability.
We also understand it can be frustrating when ads are difficult to close or when the ‘X’ button is very small. Unfortunately, we don’t control the design, layout, or duration of the ads, including the size of the close button, as these are set by the advertisers themselves.
That said, we’re always reviewing the types of ads shown to ensure they’re appropriate and not overly intrusive. If you ever see an ad that feels inappropriate, please take a screenshot and send it to hello@olioapp.com and we’ll review and block it where necessary.
If you’d prefer not to see ads at all, you can choose to become an Olio Supporter, which removes ads entirely while helping to support our mission to reduce waste.

Olio has made a huge difference
Olio has really helped me through difficult times when I had no food. Apart from that since joining I have been much more aware of reducing food waste and making a positive impact. I have also passed forward and given items I no longer need to other people. Great community spirit as well as sharing and reducing waste

IM READING PEOPLES REVIEWS ABOUT OLIO AND I THINK SOME YOU HAVE A BLOODY CHEEK TO SIT AND MOAN ABOUT ITS RUBBISH saying WHERES THE MEAT ONLY GET BREAD or SALADS (for free) YES FREE!!!!! go and buy your own meat like everyone else!!!!!!the fact that this platform is to prevent food waste and put food in belly’s regardless if it’s bread or salads! You got it it free didn’t you it’s not just one person Im seeing a lot people becoming to expectant of things !! I swear this day and age people are becoming vile and expect Too much and quick to take them collections though Im sure dont sit and eat you free toast and moan about the app that provided the means for you to eat that bread !! Great to start with and I did hundreds of collections but missed one and didn’t respond as my Dad died. Totally bullied by an app. No support available to talk to about things.

Given what you were going through, it’s completely understandable that responding to an app message would not have been your priority. We’re really sorry that the experience felt harsh or impersonal at such a painful time. That certainly isn’t our intention.
Our Food Waste Hero programme does operate with automated checks, including the requirement to respond to Olio’s Little Helper messages after each collection. These rules are applied consistently to ensure fairness and reliability across all partnerships.
If you haven’t already, please consider submitting an appeal using the link in the suspension message you received. Appeals are reviewed by a member of our team, and this allows us to look at your situation more closely.

A absolutely fantastic idea
A absolutely fantastic idea, the app is easy to use except for the very rare occasional time that it might act up. I wish that the adverts were a bit shorter or those who have paid to not have adverts have a delay as a lot of times the really good food goes to the ones that dont have to watch the adverts. Other than that can't complain, its free food and household items!

There are some.lovely people in here really willing to help you have a few others that are absolutely horrible treat you you scum this has happend on 3 separate occasions and the person that is potentially bullying you then gets you blocked from being a olio hero? Fantastic site for what it does or what it's ment to do but the people? Don't think it's worth being spoken to in that way if I'm honnist.

Regarding being blocked from the Food Waste Hero programme, suspensions are applied in line with specific programme rules and system checks. They are not triggered simply because another user reports someone. We aim to apply these rules consistently to ensure fairness for everyone.
If you feel you’ve been unfairly suspended, we do have an appeal process in place. By submitting an appeal through the link in the message you received about your suspension, your case will be reopened and reviewed again by our team. This ensures every volunteer has the opportunity to be heard and have their situation reassessed.

A good and useful service which reduces waste
I have only used Olio a few times but I have been very happy with it. It’s easy to use and the people who respond seem serious. I have posted items on other sites and then those who contact to say they want them don’t bother to collect or to let me know they have changed their minds.
