Why do I have a workplace pension?
The government’s auto enrolment laws mean all employers must put eligible employees into a workplace pension and contribute to their pension savings. NOW: Pensions provides workplace pensions for millions of members on behalf of tens of thousands of employers.
Can I stop paying into my pension?
Yes, you can stop paying in at any time. After being auto enrolled for one month, the pension savings you’ve saved will be invested until you retire or transfer to another pension provider. You’ll be able to see your account at nowgateway.com. If you stop paying into your pension, you’ll miss out on your employer’s contributions – at least 3% of your earnings; tax relief; and building up pension savings. Please note charges will still apply.
Can I opt out?
You can opt out within a month of being auto enrolled and get back any money you’ve paid in. If you opt out after a month, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer to another pension provider.
Can I have my money now?
Pension laws mean if you don’t opt out within one month of being auto enrolled, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer your savings to another pension provider. You can start to take your pension savings any time after you reach age 55.
Why can’t I cash in my pension savings?
After you’re auto enrolled in a workplace pension, pension laws give you one month to opt out. After a month, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer your savings to another provider.
How long does it take to transfer out?
Once we’ve received everything we need to carry out your transfer request, payment can take up to 25 working days.
How do I check the progress of my request?

I think Now is amongst the best…

I think Now is amongst the best pension custodian if not the best. They are very professional and their customers service is great. Their website and application is amazing, easy to navigate and clear understanding of your pension. I will always recommend it.

I am extremely dissatisfied and deeply frustrated with my experience with this pension company. Over the past three months, I have made repeated attempts to obtain my new policy number, update my address, and simply regain access to my account—yet these basic and reasonable requests remain unresolved. This ongoing situation is both unacceptable and exhausting.

Despite diligently following every instruction provided—including sending multiple emails and submitting all required documentation by post—I have made no meaningful progress. Each time I contact customer service for an update, I am met with different and often contradictory information. This lack of consistency has only added to the confusion, prolonged the process unnecessarily, and significantly increased my frustration.

The standard of customer service has been consistently poor. Representatives appear to lack both the knowledge and coordination required to handle even straightforward requests. It is extremely concerning that no one seems able to provide clear, accurate, or reliable guidance. This has resulted in a considerable waste of time and has eroded my confidence in the company entirely.

For transparency, I strongly urge a review of recorded calls, which will clearly highlight the conflicting information and inconsistent advice provided by various representatives. Equally concerning is the apparent lack of accountability or intervention from higher management, who have failed to take ownership or meaningful action to resolve this matter.

Furthermore, the information presented on the company’s website does not align with the actual service provided. The process for raising a formal complaint is unnecessarily restrictive and poorly designed, requiring customers to log in before submitting a complaint. This creates an unreasonable barrier and reflects a lack of genuine commitment to addressing customer concerns.

Given that this involves my hard-earned savings, the entire experience is particularly distressing. I expect a far higher standard of professionalism, efficiency, and integrity when dealing with matters of such importance.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I would strongly urge others to exercise caution and reconsider their association with this.

This company are very difficult to deal…

This company are very difficult to deal with, and I am a solicitor used to dealing with pension companies. Their forms are counter-intuitive, and their fixed procedures are inflexible when dealing with the estate of one of their deceased customers. I will certainly avoid them in future if I can and advice you to also.

NOW Pensions act in the way they do because the Government has allowed this to happen

The problem with NOW Pensions is that we, as employees, were not given the option of choosing a pension provider of our choice - most of us wanted the NEST pension provider.
Secondly, the Government encouraged us to start a workplace pension scheme, and as such, we blithely agreed to the scheme without realizing what the consequences would be.
NOW Pensions show scant regard for its customers to such a degree that accounts can't be accessed in a short time, the foreign telephone advisors can't be understood, and the returns on our contributions are derisory.
The Government allowed this to happen . . . . . they can now sort it out!

i Have been trying to get into the…

i Have been trying to get into the website since Jan 21st 2026. Firstly was advised incorrect details were on the system. Correct details sent 21st Jan 2026 but still not able to login. What a joke for a company.
Wanted to combine all my pensions in one place so sorted a company that could consolidate. The 2 other pensions i had sorted and transferred in days.
This company how ever have just repeatedly sent me the same email saying do you really want to do this?

More likes more attension!!!

Let's ALL those who have suffered at the hands of this company give this post a maximum likes for this post. I think the government should intervene in this company's affairs, as they have enough money to support so many people!
I've been trying to access my account since November. In November, they said the account was under technical review, and that would last for two weeks at most. After the New Year, the account was completely blocked for "security reasons." I was able to access my account easily in September and October, but as soon as I started asking how to withdraw money to my bank account at the end of October, it was blocked a week later. Since then, the level of abuse from support has been off the charts. I took screenshots of the conversation with support, which I spoke with again today; it's a shame I can't attach them here. One support person wrote that I needed to call them and quickly ended the chat. The next person wrote that this had happened to many accounts and that I needed to wait. However, this person doesn't know the timeframe for this. When I wrote to ask whether it was even legal for a UK pension company to behave this way, withholding client money without explanation, the support representative ended the conversation. I'm sure I'm not alone, otherwise the company wouldn't have such a low rating here.

Avoid!

My ill-health retirement claim was delayed because important forms never arrived, and I wasn’t told I needed to complete them until weeks later. Guidance was inconsistent, and automated letters added to the confusion. Stage 1 partially upheld my complaint with a compensation offer, but in Stage 2 the compensation was pulled, and my concerns were not fully addressed. The whole process caused unnecessary stress, and the Trust needs to improve transparency and communication.

Contributions missing/disapeared

pensionsnow seems to have migrated to a new website and somehow most of my contributions are missing, already complained and contract the chat but no one seems to find this money even though I have past emails confirming contributions were made.
To add to the agravation it's not even possible to login in the old website to check the data, they literally deleted everything. this feels like a scam.

Very much a ‘compliance’ product

Very much a ‘compliance’ product. They have no interest in providing actual support to you as the end user because you’re not their customer, your employer is. You’re legally forced into using them to get employer contributions so they have no need to provide satisfactory service, and it shows.

Legalized criminals

Avoid

Avoid, avoid, avoid! I have been trying to access my account since November 2025. 3 months! It is ‘flagged for review’ and I ‘won’t be able to access for the next few weeks’. Despite several attempts I cannot get into my account. I’m sure it’s just purely a coincidence that I want to draw some money down ;) Unfortunately it’s through my employer.
