- Why do I have a workplace pension?
- The government’s auto enrolment laws mean all employers must put eligible employees into a workplace pension and contribute to their pension savings. NOW: Pensions provides workplace pensions for millions of members on behalf of tens of thousands of employers.
- Can I stop paying into my pension?
- Yes, you can stop paying in at any time. After being auto enrolled for one month, the pension savings you’ve saved will be invested until you retire or transfer to another pension provider. You’ll be able to see your account at nowgateway.com. If you stop paying into your pension, you’ll miss out on your employer’s contributions – at least 3% of your earnings; tax relief; and building up pension savings. Please note charges will still apply.
- Can I opt out?
- You can opt out within a month of being auto enrolled and get back any money you’ve paid in. If you opt out after a month, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer to another pension provider.
- Can I have my money now?
- Pension laws mean if you don’t opt out within one month of being auto enrolled, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer your savings to another pension provider. You can start to take your pension savings any time after you reach age 55.
- Why can’t I cash in my pension savings?
- After you’re auto enrolled in a workplace pension, pension laws give you one month to opt out. After a month, your pension savings will be invested until you retire or transfer your savings to another provider.
- How long does it take to transfer out?
- Once we’ve received everything we need to carry out your transfer request, payment can take up to 25 working days.
- How do I check the progress of my request?
- If you’ve made a request and want to check how it’s going, email trustpilot@nowpensions.com or give us a call on 0330 100 3334 and we’ll be able to update you.

My experience was great with now…
My experience was great with now pension. They reminded me of my pension and the possibilities of moving forward with it. I chose to take out my pension and they did so. All I did on line and it was straight forward, thanks.

My address details were incorrect at…
My address details were incorrect at your end. Somehow, 2 lines had been repeated. This could not be rectified by a person with common sense, my HO had to liaise with your office and the person was on holiday! My requested date for the money was 12/07/2026. It took 3+months to receive the money on 19/10/2026. Also, I need to claim the excess tax paid but the form to do so has not been provided by you.

I have had a look into your account to get a better understanding of what’s happened.
I can see that a retirement claim was initiated on 27 August 2026 and the relevant documents were provided to us however your address differed from what we had on your record.
now:pensions receive all member details directly from their employer via a file upload each time the payroll is processed. This information is then used to update our records accordingly. If any personal details are incorrect on your record, we would not know this until we have been informed. As you were still an active member at the time we needed your address to be updated via the file upload by your employer.
Once your address had been updated, we could progress with your claim. We understand having incorrect details and needing them to be updated before we could proceed can be frustrating but we have a responsibility to ensure your funds are sent to the correct person and the necessary checks are completed to keep your account secure.
We sent correspondence to you on 15 October 2026 to advise your savings have been paid and will reach your bank account within the next few days.
On this letter there is a section at the end under ‘your pension and income tax’ which notifies you that now:pensions are unaware if the amount of tax paid is correct as we do not know about any other income you may get. It does mention if you think you have paid too much tax to follow the link to claim this back, https://www.gov.uk/claim-tax-refund.
I can’t change your experience on this occasion, but we can use your feedback to look how we can improve in the future.
