I was totally skeptical about this…

I was totally skeptical about this and wondered why the law firm wouldn't just cut a check to the class action awardees, but maybe that is just too old school? This site is legitimate although you need to educate yourself as to how to use a virtual gift card as others have mentioned here.
I opted for the prepaid online card and that sign up process was easy to navigate. I then went to Amazon and reloaded a gift card with the full balance (minus the cents and really, it's bonus money you're receiving so sometimes you need to let that bit of change go) and it was approved almost instantly.
My recommendation is to not treat this one like a debit card but to instead load your balance on a single gift card at a big name retailer which you use regularly like Amazon, Target, Starbucks, Walmart etc. Once the funds are on that virtual gift card, you are good to go and don't have to worry about being declined on every separate transaction. Good luck!

HACKED???

I activated a 25 dollar prepaid Visa as per instructions that came with the card. By the time I tried to use it, there was only five dollars and change left on the card. I think my activation was intercepted and the Information was used to purchase using the card number and three digit code I entered. I believe that MyPrepaidCenter has been hacked.

It Works But Prepared to Put In Significant Work to Actually Use Funds

I will preface by saying I thought this was a scam, but my card eventually worked after some persistence and time. Be prepared to invest at least two hours to troubleshoot.

I received a $195 prepaid Mastercard for a research study I participated in. I opted for this type of card instead of a gift card to a specific retailer because I wanted options. That was a mistake.

After speaking with three different customer service reps (which were not as hard to get ahold of as I thought), I learned that if your card declines more than once, it will automatically block the card and you will have to get a new one. It will decline for various reasons, including using it for a gift card, on paypal, or in my case on Nordstrom.com. The system didn't like Nordstrom and coded it as a subscription/reoccurring charge, which was not true but whatever. Finally, I had a rep that activated a new card for me and told me to try my purchase on Incognito Mode at a different retailer that sold the same item I wanted to buy at Nordstrom, and it finally worked.

Some tips:
-Make sure you can access your myprepaidcenter.com account
-WHEN CALLING THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE, wait for the option that allows you to enter in your card number details (NOT OPTION 1). After entering in my info, I was able to get connected to someone rather quick. If you press for option 1, you will get swallowed into going through all the menu options, and it's almost like a never ending loop.
-If your card gets declined more than once, it is most likely blocked, and you will need to call them to get a new card.
-If you know what you want to buy online, ask the rep to stay on the phone with you until you make the purchase just in case it declines. They can see why the system declined it and can tell you why.
-Try purchasing on Incognito

I would give it 0 stars if it was an option!

I would give it 0 stars if it was an option. There are no way to use these cards without spending the $3 to get a plastic card. By then it's no longer worth getting. They do this so they can keep everyone's money. If you can't use it, it has to go somewhere. That's right - right back into their account as fees for non-use. Eventually they will get the full amount. So sick of settlements going to these cards that can't be used. Worst gift card company ever!!!
Needed to add an update (12/9/2025) because I have tried all of the things that other people on here say to do and none if them actually work. I was able to talk to someone at this place and they told me to add it to my digital wallet and I should be able to use it as a split payment. Who accepts split payments? No one. The next time I get a settlement from something I will try to request a check instead of this BS.
Update #2 (12/11/2025)
I was finally able to get the funds from one card into Amazon after determining that I was given the wrong expire date. Once that was figured out, that card easily allowed me to purchase that exact amount toward my gift card reload. The other card, however, was not so easy. It is a disbursement prepaid card. It can only be used for online purchases but would not let me buy the Amazon reload. I was not fighting with it any longer and I was not trying to find somewhere to make a purchase for exactly $10.39. I logged into my mom's Tim Horton's account and added $10 to her gift card balance. Was extremely surprised that it went through. They can keep their 39 cents. I no longer want the headache.
I still don't recommend these cards. Most people will give up and not bother pushing like all of us did.

I received a virtual card through the…

I received a virtual card through the Facebook settlement and was instructed to use it via MyPrepaidCenter.com. Despite activating the card correctly, every single attempt to use it has been declined. It simply does not work anywhere.

Overall, this leaves a very poor impression, and the service feels unreliable. It ends up feeling like a waste of time, and it easily gives the impression of being af scam.

Unable to use the card for online purchases…

Unable to use the card for online purchases (despite the full amount of money still being on the card). Also unable to reset the card pin via the website, being given the message "We're unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later."

Fortunately, the customer service team has helpfully got back to me and explained that the gift card can only be used in the place of a credit/debit card (not alongside it) when making online purchases. A little disappointing that they can't be combined, and I still couldn't solve the pin change issue - but the feedback was helpful, so I'm changing this to 3 stars.

Solid Experience Despite All the Noise

I came in skeptical. First about whether the site was even legitimate, and then even more so after reading the pile of negative reviews here.

I only signed up because I received a $25 Flex Power Reward from PSE&G (electric provider for Jersey City, NJ). Being a tech guy, I naturally did my own homework. The site checked out—looked legitimate, and never once asked for anything beyond basic details. No credit card, no SSN, no shady prompts.

The process took under five minutes.
Got the prepaid card details instantly, registered the card, and used it to load funds on my Starbucks app without any issues.

Honestly, most of the negative reviews here read like people who ran into problems and came straight online to vent. No one seems to bother leaving feedback when things work as expected.

Also, let’s be real: prepaid Visa and Mastercard cards fail at 80% of places. I get them all the time through my employer’s reward portal. It’s not this site - it’s prepaid cards in general. They’re notoriously picky with certain payment gateways.

But they do work reliably on food apps and digital platforms - Uber, Starbucks, etc.
I literally used a $1200 prepaid card to pay rent once (my portal charged me a $10 debit fee, but still—worked).

Bottom line:
My experience was smooth, fast, and legitimate. The complaints here seem more about misunderstanding prepaid cards than anything wrong with the site itself.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

I have the same issue as the previous commenter about the Facebook lawsuit card. I cannot get hold of a person in the call center. The website does not let me login. I cannot use the card at all. Terrible experience.

P.S: tried to use the PayPal method described by one reviewer but you must pay a PayPal fee to use a credit card. Then I was able to reload my Amazon gift card balance with the totality of the card balance. Going to change my review to 2 stars because of that.

If you have a PayPal account request…

If you have a PayPal account request the amount of how much you have inside the prepaid card to a email that isn’t associated with the PayPal account you’re using. Once you do that login to that email account you’ll see a email from PayPal of a payment request (which was you who requested it) then hit the link attached to that email which will direct you to enter a form of payment (use the prepaid card) then choose the guest option to send the payment request….. your welcome

No customer service. Can't access money. 4 days I've been trying to get my OWN money. Trash

I get these through my job from different things we do to earn points. They are always a pain in the ass to use but have always worked. This time my job gave me a 40 dollar one for Thanksgiving, set it up like I normally no went to the gas station and got 20 in gas. Life is good. Some days later I'm heading out to my parents about 40 miles away and my tank was on empty and I must have left my wallet at home. No worries I have my prepaid. My tank is empty as shit and now for some stupid reason they decided not to let the card through. Now I had to call my 81 year old mother and try to explain to her how to see me money on cash app. Lots of fun. Here we are now 4 days later you can't get ahold of anyone. It's all that worthless bot shit that is a complete waste of anyone's time. Now days all companies like this a mostly no good. No customer service you know the song and dance. Now for the Icing on the cake I was just asked to pay a refundable 5 dollars to answer how to fix this. What a joke. If it's refundable then why ask for it. We have about 5 different ways we can get are free money at work. I can just use it on Amazon. It sucks that the way the world is today every one is out to scam you some how. It's really not that hard. Just have a human answer the phone and tell how I can fix. I know it's way to complicated that way. It's much easier using the computer that has no idea what I'm talking about and answer some crazy ass questions I didn't even ask. It's was ok until you have a problem. Then you better have a week to waste to find out about your 5 missing dollars. Unless it's money going directly to them they could care less about any other problems you're having as long as it's not affecting them. As far as I'm concern they can keep the 20 stick up and you know what because I'm not going to waste my time call him no more it is a beast that leaving bad reviews everywhere. 4 days now I haven't been able to talk to 1 single person about why my card don't work. HR will get my money back for me.

Awful

Awful. I got a virtual card from my job and I cannot use it. It keeps being rejected everywhere. I want to use it on Amazon but it is not working.

EDIT: I called the help desk and Alex was very helpful issuing me a new number and telling me why the card was locked. Still a frustrating experience overall but he did a great job no complaints on him

I use mine on Amazon app and it paid for it I signes up for transaction notifications on the gift card and it notified me that it went through. I had no problems at all sign up or receiving this I was skeptical after reading all these reviews I thought this was a scam site at first because this was in my spam folder of an old email of an old Facebook account but I was like man what do I have to lose let me just see if this actually is legit I'm glad I did cuz it's the end of the month and I have no money I need more dog food and bird food. I still don't really know why Facebook gave me money I just remember a couple years ago or something like that there was some kind of like class action lawsuit and I just signed up for it and they gave me 35 bucks I spent $34 on Amazon and it went through so I'm leaving proof that it does work but I'm from the United States.

The myprepaidcard system doesn't recognize prepaid cards associated with an email address. The whole prepaid concept using these people appears to be a scam. I predict a massive class action lawsuit if anyone can actually find the principals behind this company.
