Customer service has no idea what's going on. The app doesn't work properly. Reduced the call centre hours. Can't access my money when I need to because their systems don't work. I don't have anything positive to say about my experience with Metrobank. I think it's time to switch, I can't see this bank lasting much longer. All my friends have jumped ship. I would NOT recommend banking with this mob. You've been warned.

This bank is the joker of the banking world and this week I’ve had the worst experience I’ve ever had with any business in my entire life, shocked at the almost non existent customer care, I’ve spoken to 25 members of staff over a 5 day period, spent 11 hours on the phone, sent multiple emails with no reply, been promised a phone call by a manager within 24hrs and 48hrs later I’m still waiting, if Billy Smart had a bank then this would be it!!! AVOID THESE GUYS LIKE THE PLAGUE, THEY WILL FREEZE YOUR MONEY UNJUSTLY AND JUST KEEP YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WITHOUT YOUR MONEY 💰

A week later the money still comes out my account not Evan in pending its been took out my account so I ring the other account holder to see if it had been sent to there new account no so I ring metro thay say monny should be back within 2 days so I waited and nothing the other account holder had nothing so I waited 11 days just to make shour and I ring the bank again and thay say thay need to investigate as thay don't know we're the monnys gone and thay can't give me a time frame so in other words thay have take it and don't want to put it back don't use these no mater what stay away

I rang this bank to tell them a scammer asking for £3000 had given me an account number to pay the money into a metro bank sort code - well the number they give you for reporting fraud on their website site is only a general number with 5 options non actually related to fraud , after waiting 29 mins someone answers the phone and puts me through to the supposed fraud line after 20 mins someone answers and says this is the plastic fraud line and she puts me on hold for 20 mins till I get through to the non plastic fraud line he then says he’s not part of the fraud team but he will pass them a message - WHAT A SHAMBLES after more than an hour wasted that’s the best he can do so I ask for a reference number so I can make a complaint but of course he can’t do that because I don’t have an account with them - all I was trying to do was warn them that a scammer had an account set up at their bank - I really don’t think they are interested in helping people avoiding being scammed - a shocking bank basically
One star is too many, woeful
When I first opened this account back in 2014, Metro were brilliant. I originally opened it because of the free cash withdrawals anywhere in Europe but their system and customer service were also excellent. Unfortunately, they have, over the last year become absolutely woeful.
There have been many serious problems but worst of all, I have been unable to send money to payees using online banking for the last 10 months. Constant errors mean I have to phone the bank every time I need to transfer money.
4 times they have raised an IT issue, promised a call back to resolve, then nothing and the call has been classed as resolved and closed.
One advisor told me I must be using the browser wrong because there is no issue their end. When I advised her that I was a cyber security analyst, with a master’s in computer science (which is actually true), she hung up, actually put the phone down. Clearly she knew full well she was talking nonsense.
Add this to not being able to move money between my current and savings account, again requiring a phone call each time, this is appalling service from a bank marketed as online.
I have now transferred my Metro account to First Direct who, so far, have been absolutely superb.
It’s a real shame because Metro was a great bank but, I can’t see them staying in business another five years so get out while you can, and they take your money with them.
Worst banking app ever
Worst banking app ever. Every night they show my balance wrong. They show cleared payments on statement but those cleared payments also show as pending still so it takes your current balance to lower than it actually is. I wouldn’t trust this bank if I needed access to my own money over night. Never seen such a poor system.

Also, not suitable if you work with international clients with multiple currencies.
Poor online banking services
Very difficult to use online banking personal account. Never work properly. If you forgot your password, you are in trouble, as customer support is helpless. Mobile app is too simple, don't have features other banking apps has and not working properly most of the time. Always " something went wrong" on the screen. Staff in branches polite, nice people. You can order lost card to be remade for you in branch, this is good. But online banking services are very poor quality comparing to other banks, need to do something with it.

If you provide services for someone in UK and get paid from abroad into metro bank account it will be the biggest mistake you ever make, metro bank will not clear the payment into your account metro bank will ask you for lots off pepper why you received this payment and it will take weeks to resolve the problem please stay away from this crazy stupid bank, go Bank with NatWest, Barclays , RBS you will never have this problem !

Perhaps the worst bank in the world whose services are unreliable.
The advertisement suggests that a bank account can open in 10 minutes. It took me 7 days, and 7 visits to the bank for setting up an account.
Then, they blocked my card in the middle of the day, and their fraud detection service has an sms address that does not receive smses, but asks you to send them a Y or an N for whether a particular transaction was done by you. They then gave me a number to call, where I talked to some customer representative from the fraud department. I gave them my details CORRECTLY, but the did not unblock my card. They asked me to visit their branch again. Imagine if this would have happened when I was abroad.
Extremely unreliable and extremely dangerous situation it puts you through in case you have only one bank account you rely on.

Foreign Exchange Questionable
Rang Metro Bank head Office yesterday to obtain an exchange rate for TL (Turkish Lira). Head office confirmed the rate for me to Buy is 19.4946 TL to £1. Transferred phone call to Local Branch who also confirmed the same Buy Rate 19.4946 TL to £1. I confirmed I would be in the Branch this morning to obtain said Turkish Lira.
Today I arrived and was told by the cashier that the Buy rate is 16.0748 to £1 and was told that money exchanges fluctuate overnight. Now this would be a -17.54% drop, hardly likely when M&S, Post Office, Sainsbury Buy Rate today is exactly the same as yesterday i.e. 18.635. I explained that I confirmed the rate with a colleague yesterday but they conceded that do not register incoming calls.
Yet again I have been thwarted by Metro Bank incompetence. My wife is absolutely correct "Why do you keep Banking with these dullards when they have given you inaccurate information numerous times?"
Learned my final lesson today, will be transferring to another provider forthwith.

They do not answer the telephone when calling customer services. On hold for so long, I gave up. Clearly, they consider that their time is more important than their customers' time.
The waiting time is a killer
Afternoon going back and forth in one day for about three times because of the long waiting time, am currently waiting for about 40mins with no one available to attend to me. First they don't book appointment, again when you go too early, they tell you their representative haven't arrived. Yes they have nice attractive,spacious environment but unfortunately they are NOT EFFECTIVE. The services is terrible. How I wish I have an alternative at this point.

Metro bank Leicester branch has Very bad customer service, staff don't know how to deal with customers in a proper manner, never experienced this type of attitude from staff in any other bank that I bank with, I was going to open a business account with you guys but thank God I went with Natwest.

The rest of the corporation is useless and cannot resolve issues.
The major issue is your account will not link to any accounting software even the one they are promoting.
Two visits to branch to resolve the problem, a week of back and forth with accountants, you cannot share the downloaded files with accountants, you have to scan everything back in.
A total waste of time.
Go to a proper bank that won't be fustrated and dissappointed with, I'm closing my account because they cannot get there act together.
