HBL closed my account with no reason or warning

I have been an HBL customer for over 10 years. Recently, HBL closed my account without any prior notice, explanation, or formal communication. As an overseas Pakistani, this has caused me immense difficulty.

There is no way to resolve this issue because HBL’s helpline is completely unresponsive. To make things worse, my account has even disappeared from the mobile app – as if it never existed. No balance, no transaction history, nothing.

I received zero warning, zero reason, and zero support. After a decade of loyalty, this is how HBL treats its overseas customers. I strongly recommend against using this bank, especially if you live outside Pakistan. They cannot be trusted with your money or your time.

I’m posting this because HBL claims to be Pakistan’s #1 digital bank, but honestly, the service and overall experience have been very disappointing.

My debit card recently expired, and a new one was supposed to be delivered to my mailing address. I was at home the entire day, yet I suddenly received a message saying the card was returned because no one was available to receive it—which is simply not true.

After that, I called customer support from my registered number. I went through the IVR process, verified my details, and still the agent asked for my CNIC, date of birth, and my mother’s name. Even after providing all the correct information, the agent told me that I was not calling from my registered number.

When I explained that I was indeed calling from my registered number, he still denied it and refused to assist me. This kind of response is unacceptable, especially when all verification steps were already completed.

To be honest, this has been a very frustrating experience. I expected much better from a bank that positions itself as a leader in digital services.

Dear concern,

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the extremely poor and unprofessional customer service I experienced at your HBL branch located on Peshawar Road.

I visited the branch with the intention of opening a company account, as well as discussing my existing salary account.(Check the attachment )However, I was disappointed to find that the staff present refused to assist me, stating that it was their break time (around 4:45 PM) and asked me to return later. Despite explaining the urgency of my request and informing them that I also have multiple employees who would be opening accounts with your branch, my request was disregarded.

Such behavior is highly unprofessional and reflects a lack of customer commitment. It is unacceptable for a reputed bank like HBL to deny service to customers during working hours due to internal timing preferences. This incident has caused significant inconvenience and has raised serious concerns about the quality of service being provided at this branch.

I request a thorough investigation into this matter and appropriate action against the responsible staff and inform me as well... Additionally, I expect assurance that such incidents will not occur in the future.

If this matter is not addressed promptly and satisfactorily, I will be compelled to pursue this issue through legal channels.

I look forward to your response.

he joined after "8 minutes"
after EACH msg, I waited for 7-9 mints pause before he responds, and later he said sorry, Please contact the HBL Phone Banking Helpline at 021 111 425-111 for further assistance.

My god, what the hell it is.

world trashiest exp : blind banking.
its been month I cant see the transition history. no msgs no emails. card wifi doesn't work in whole country. I would rather trade in stones than to use this bank!. this is level of Pakistani banks! pathetic

I had a very disappointing experience with Habib Bank Limited. I visited the branch multiple times for a simple account and ATM card process, but the staff was extremely uncooperative and unprofessional. Every time I was given a different reason and no clear guidance.

Even after being told that my account was opened and the card would be delivered within a week, nothing arrived. When I followed up after a month, I was informed that the card was not even issued due to “some internal reason” — without any proper explanation.

The staff behavior was careless and dismissive. Instead of assisting properly, they made the process unnecessarily stressful and time-consuming. Very poor customer service and lack of accountability. Definitely not the experience I expected from a reputed bank

Please don't choose HBL bank for your foreign remittances. They deliberately delayed your payment and start asking different id to verify. Its look like they want to hold your money as much as they can. Even if you told them you need that money badly and ask for help no empathy. Very rude staff.

This is by far the worst product/service I've ever wasted my money on. Complete garbage! It stopped working after just 2 days, customer support is useless and rude – they kept putting me on hold for hours and gave me zero solutions. Everything feels cheap, broken, and poorly made. Total scam!

Do NOT buy this! Save your money and go somewhere else. I regret every penny spent. Angry and disappointed customer who will never come back and will tell everyone to avoid this company.

I visited the Nusrat Khel branch of Habib Bank in Kohat after my account was frozen while I was in Dubai I requested to have it reopened, and the branch manager Ali Hussain assured me that it would be done within three days However after waiting for seventeen days I returned to the branch and was told that the account still hadn t been reopened Instead I was rudely instructed to close the account The manager s behavior was unprofessional and discourteous and I was left with no choice but to close my account
Additionally, I also contacted customer care, and they promised a response within three days, but I never received any follow-up.
I hope the bank addresses these issues and improves their customer service
