Mark Wilkins is a director and consultant of OCL Vision, specialising in corneal transplant, cataract, laser eye surgery and lens. He is the former head of the Corneal Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital and an honorary lecturer at University College London, having been a consultant since 2006. He is known to be a highly skilled surgeon and likeable mentor to budding consultant surgeons. During his training, Mark spent 2 years working for a research MD degree at the Institute of Ophthalmology. Research has continued to be a significant part of his career and he has produced over 40 publications. Mark has been the principal investigator for a large National Institute for Health Research trial looking at the benefits femtosecond cataract surgery could offer over standard cataract surgery. He is an honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Ophthalmology.

Very happy with final outcome
After decades of wearing contact lens for shortsightedness I am now left wondering why I didn't have laser eye surgery sooner! Mark was very patient, informative and reassuring; the surgery was quick; and the results life-changing.

Forever Grateful to Mr Wilkins - 3 months on and forgotten about my glasses/contacts
I couldn't recommend Mr Wilkins and Moorfields enough. Being 25, very short-sighted and having a scar on 1 eye, it was probably a complicated, risky correction for Mr Wilkins to do to which my optician had said may not be possible. She had said if she were to take the risk it would be with Moorfields because of all the care and facilities. I can't thank him enough for correcting my vision better than 20:20 and even clearing the scar. The care they gave me from start to finish was incomparably superior to what friends have received from other laser eye clinics/hospitals. Clearly his absolute priority was to achieve the best results possible, choosing to use both LASIK and trans-PRK to give me the best outcome for my situation. Massive thank you to Mr Wilkins, Andrew and everyone else that helped as I wouldn't have trusted anyone else with my eyesight. I couldn't have found a friendlier more caring team.

Mark was fantastic
Mark was an incredible consultant. Having been nervous about having surgery for decades and finally taking the plunge, I chose Mark on a recommendation and was so glad that I did. He was reassuring whilst being technical about the process itself. The procedure went fabulously well and his after-care was terrific. The whole process was smooth and very straightforward. I am so pleased that I chose Mark to be my consultant.

Reassuring, fun, expert and worth doing!
Mark and his team were reassuring, fun, and expert to the highest degree. This helped enormously as I was scared to undergo the procedure! Looking back now, with my 20/20 fighter pilot vision, I'm delighted I took the leap of faith and chose Mark and his lovely team. They were highly recommended by my first rate opticians. Each day now feels like a special occasion thanks to this. Cheers guys, be seeing you!

Wonderful to be able to see so clearly!
Deeply thrilled by the surgery. Mark is an excellent surgeon. One is naturally nervous about anything to do with eyes but Mark was very reassuring. I could see perfectly the very next day and wondered why I had waited so long to have the operation. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Excellent
Great life decision. Excellent results and Mark was very supportive explaining things clearly as I went through the treatment. I can now see my children when I take them swimming :)

Over The Moon with Service and Result
My whole experience with Mark Wilkins and his Team from start to finish was excellent and I would highly recommend the procedure to others.
I was made to feel very relaxed and great care was taken initially testing my eyes and making sure I understood the whole surgery procedure. The staff at the Opegra Eye Hospital in London were friendly and caring and my cateract and lens replacement operation went very smoothly. I no longer have to wear glasses and can’t thank Mr Wilkins enough for his personal care and attention which made the whole procedure a very relaxed and life changing experience.
I am over the moon as I now view the world without the use of glasses. So pleased, and I can’t thank Mr Wilkins and his team enough.
