Their photos on line look great. But when you receive the product, it is made differently and of the absolute poorest quality material on earth. A nasty nylon type fabric that looks like nothing you would wear in public.
They won't refund, but they will send you more ugly clothing for additional shipping money. Such a common scam for clothing these days. Stay away - far away.

Removing their hassle free return language would go a long way in improving their customer service experience. You might think twice before even placing an order. After several e mails, I was able to negotiate a 30% refund and had to keep useless items. The company suggested donation. A rather large donation I wasn’t planning to make. No wonder Amazon is killing the alternatives. They have an actual hassle free return policy.

They say they are in Charleston, but the item is shipped from China. The dress is very nice but does not fit. It has to be mailed back to CHINA at buyers expense and lots of hoops to jump through. What the heck! How goes Charleston fit in here!! Will never order again.

Love both dresses. Fabric light weight for summer. Sizing perfect.

Do not order from this company. They make you believe you are ordering from their mother/daughter owned boutique in Charleston. They even sent me a note to say they were personally folding my items getting ready to ship them. These clothes are being shipped from China and took 18 days to arrive. The quality is horrible and looks nothing like the photos on their website. Don’t fall for their sweet story like I did. You will be hugely disappointed.

Actually this scam site deserves ZERO stars. Apparently there are a pair of sites lucyandclaire-chaleston.com and lucyandclara-charleston.com operating- all the better to confuse the consumer. Same charming story and photos- mother and daughter operating a bricks snd mortar store in Charleston SC opening an online presence to sell their lovely dresses to everyone. Reviewed their web site, typical return/refund/exchange policy. Ordered one dress which arrived within a week. Upon opening the packaging the dress reeked-smoke? body odor? weird fabric or dye? Cheaply made, sleezy fabric, weird sizing. Had to write to request return/refund information and instructions. That began a nearly 20 email exchange with many differing offers and apologies (seemingly all generated by an AI assistant (customer service assistant) " Lucy Moore" who works all hours of the day and night. Initially they requested photos-"not screen shots from their web site" -of the item. As if the cheap fabrication, sleezy fabric and odor can be detected from my photos. Photos sent along with indication that this item didn't run at all true to size. An identical replacement item is then offered in exchange and the ability retain this dress all for $9.95 shipping. More conversation and another size of the same item is offered. More conversation and then replacement with any similarly priced item with no shipping cost. I demand to return the unwearable dress and receive full refund, sending them a copy of their return/refund policy. In addition I mention the lucyandclara-charleston.com web site which clearly causes customer confusion. Same lovely photos of the "shop" similar bricks and mortar story, coming online, same dresses-slightly different prices. They will "refer that to their team for careful review." Next reply offers me a 15% refund to my card and I can retain the dress or a 5O% store credit My demand is reissued. Next reply is a 30% refund to my card and retain the dress or 75% store credit for future purchase. Upon reissue of my demand their offer is repeated along with the option (finally) to complete the return form and submit the dress and request refund by mailing the dress to CHINA! Once it is received and inspected if it is good condition, a refund will be made within 14 days of receipt. Return must be within 30 days, at my cost and they recommend purchasing parcel tracking service because if the package doesn't arrive they are not responsible and no refund will be made. What happened to their charming ship in Charleston, SC? At this point, I am posting here and will file with the FTC and review the two companies as many times as I can!
Stay away, do not purchase anything. I learned my lesson for $49.95 and will not incur additional charges to ship to China or provide them with my credit card number again. Worst customer experience I have ever had all couched in their very polite, chirpy AI generated responses! Pretty well done scam, I would say!

I ordered 3 garments from Lucy & Claire I was very disappointed with the quality of the fabric - it's heavy polyester, made in China. Note on L&C website they do not describe type of fabric in each item, buyer beware. Also - the printers did a TERRIBLE job of transferring the pattern onto fabric. The prints were blurry and out of focus on 2 of 3 garments.
My biggest problem is their "Hassle-free return policy." Instructions for returns are not available on the website. I wrote to them, asking to return the garments. Their reply #1, send us photos. I did. Their reply #2 - how about a replacement item, no need to return the garments? I said no, I want to return for a refund. Their reply #3, how about these options, no need to return: 15% discount refund (what is that?) or a 50% store credit for future purchases? I said no, I want to return for a full refund. Still waiting for instructions.

I thought I was ordering from the US. I ordered on May 29 received June 17th from China.
The size and material is nothing like what was advertised. I asked for return instructions and keep getting the same response, I am to take pictures of what I don’t like and the “Team”
Will determine next steps. This company is a complete SCAM!!! I intend to report to my credit card company and Facebook for false policy on easy returns. Do Not Buy from this company.

Bought a dress, and it’s crap. I send an email the day after I received the dress, well within the 14 day return period, and have gotten the runaround for the last 4 days. Offering 20% refund and no return.
Bullshit. I want a 100% refund and a USA address to return your crap dress. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SCAM

Lucy & Clara is a scam. Clothing is poorly made and fabric is cheap, low-quality printed polyester. Fit is really bad. Company is not based in Charleston, but China. Returns are impossible, on your dime and go to China! The item I purchased is completely unusable and I am annoyed I got suckered. If I could give negative stars on this review, there would be 100 of them.

Everything every other review on this site has been my experience. I hope people do their research on this business before they order anything from them. Horrible fit and fabric and unacceptable customer service. They advertise they are a Columbia, SC business but are doing business out of China. Beware!

Do not order from this company. The fabric is plastic and the cheapest made I have ever seen in my life. The order took forever to receive. And I bet the return will be a nightmare.

The top ordered was nothing like the fabric pictured. Ordered according to size chart , very inaccurate. Size recommended was 4 sizes too large. Returns are possible but too many hoops to jump thru. Would not recommend.

Just received three dresses—extremely poor quality—nothing like what I expected. One—“extremely breathable” material? Hardly—stiff and sandpaper like. The second—weird mesh inserts in the sleeves and the bottom of the dress that weren’t visible in the photo and so big, it could never meet the “flattering waist” claim. The third—a size Medium—could fit two of me, it was so wide. Polyester material that looks like something my grandmother might have worn 50 years ago. I feel duped and am embarrassed that I fell for the misleading ads. Shame on this “mother and daughter Charleston” scam team.

The items took a LONG time to arrive and then did not fit. One was not the shirt I ordered, either. I will change my review if they respond to my refund request. The return policy seems complex so I don't expect a response.

I ordered a $50 dress from an Instagram ad from your store. I received a horrible, cheap, course fabric article of clothing, nothing like the picture shown. I wrote asking for a full refund but they keep offering deals on other clothing, saying they can only offer $5 back. A true scam from China!
I will try to expose them as much as possible!

I wish I’d looked for the reviews prior to ordering. I wouldn’t have bothered and been out $60.00 for a blouse that is trash. Like other one star reviews (that I’m sure like me, would have preferred zero stars), the product is cheaply made and the material used is total crap. Took forever to get order. They know what they’re doing; advertising what appears to be high-end clothing only to trap you into a 20% back offer rather than going through the cost of shipping back to China. They should be investigated or I should have my head examined

I must admit their response time is prompt, however, trying to get a hassle free return is not. Instead of exposing how to return an item they wanted me to keep the item and pay another $9.95 to choose something else. All I wanted was to return the item so someone else could use it and get my refund. I was not happy with the fabric which had the feel of crepe paper.

DO NOT ORDER MERCHANDISE FROM THIS COMPANY. The dress material feels like plastic and the workmanship is extremely poor. I tried to cancel my order less than 2 hours after placing it and they said it was already in the shipping process. Really? I asked to return this crap and get a refund and like Karen Johnson said, they insist you send it back to China at your own expense which is very high or they will let you keep the crap and give you a 20% refund. Their website and ads imply the company originated in Charleston, SC. My order was sent from Vernon, CA. So why does everything go back to China? Complete shysters! The clothing I received was garbage and not what was depicted on their website.
