I am writing this review mainly because…

I am writing this review mainly because of what I read on trustpilot (and elsewhere) about loot.co.za that heavily influenced my decision not to use them initially.
I especially consult review sites when it comes to online shopping. And having seen review after review criticise loot - some calling them a "scam" - I felt it necessary to convey my own (two) experiences once I did decide to take the dip (with much initial trepidation it must be said) seeing as my own experience was anything but.

I had a long book list I wanted to buy.
Many of the items were out of stock elsewhere and many had to be imported anyway. Loot firstly was by far the cheapest. On 5 books, the saving compared to other online shopping sites and outlets was about R7/800.

I held off ordering given the bad reviews and the fact they were so much cheaper made me suspicious. In the end, it proved too hard to go anywhere else. The books would take too long or were way too expensive. So I took a chance and ordered.

From the start, loot was very professional. They stated the length of time they thought the books would take. Which was three and a bit weeks. Given the problems I knew existed in sourcing the books I wanted myself, I understood and accepted the arrival date.

In the end though, they arrived a good few days sooner than the expected delivery date.

I then ordered an accessory for my Garmin GPS.
It turned out to be the wrong part that was delivered (again, a couple of days before the specified delivery date). The spec online was not clear exactly if the item was for my model or not.

Apart from that. When I requested to return the item, within a day, it had been booked in for return and within a week and a half, a full refund was issued.

I cannot but sing the praises of loot.co.za
I am sorry for others' experiences with them. But from my limited interaction with loot, they have been nothing but an exemplary outfit and professional.
It is possible that past service issues have been ironed out.

Based on my own experiences, they were reliable, cheap, and able to source difficult-to-obtain items relatively quickly - certainly compared to their main rivals. And issued refunds quickly and efficiently.

I would not hesitate to use them again. One of the better online shopping services by far.

No refund or communication

I have ordered from Loot before without vissue. This time I ordered a Garmin Antstick, which does not work as described. I ordered on 30 May, & returned the item straight away. The item was uplifted, but since then no communication or refund, leaving me out of pocket.

Charge higher price as advertised

When browing for items the price is lower that what the price charged is at checkout. They claim it is due to stock availability, exchange rate differences and throws the book at you with regards to terms and conditions.

Why, if you search for an item, put it in your trolley and check it out within 2minutes does the price differ? If true price is known on check out show that price when browsing... bait advertising at its best!

Will not shop with Loot again - too many disappointing experiences.

I've never bought on Loot

I've never bought on Loot, I suddenly get an SMS that I won an IPhone 13 and must pay delivery via my card... This gives them free access to my banking details... this is a SCAM.

Shocking service from Loot - Basically stealing from us

Shocking service from Loot, we bought a washing machine and tumble dryer from them. It took ages to arrive, especially the washing machine, probably about two months and then only worked for a month.

It’s been broken for about a month now and no one at Loot is doing anything about it. After promise to get Hi Sense to get in touch.

Their Facebook page and emails to them have had no effect. This is the letter I’ve written to them.

To Whom it May Concern

First I need to be connected with some management because this is really not fair on us and it really really poor service.

If I don’t have much joy here I’ll have to start giving some feedback on social media and rate Loot on various platforms.

So I’ve supported Loot over the years and bought many products over the years and have always had pretty good service despite being a lot more expensive that your competitors like Takelot.

To be honest with you if you have worse service and have more expensive products you don’t have much future.

So on the 25th Jan 2022 I placed an order for a Dishwasher and a washing machine, spending almost R 13 000.00 with you.

On the 14th February almost 1 month later!!! We receive an email saying the washing machine we ordered was not available and that they would send a different one which we accepted at a lower price and have not either received the refund which we were due but we were not too concerned by.

BTW This is actually stealing. What would happen if I stole something from your company?? I would be arrested.

Anyway It then took almost two weeks until it was shipped on the 21st Feb. This is a looong time after ordering and giving you a lot of our money.

Without going into too much more detail, it arrived probably two weeks later taking us into March. We were unable to set up they washing machine due unfortunately to various reasons but finally had it set up, it then worked I would say for about two weeks if that.

On the 3rd May I sent a return request and only got a response on the 6th May.

It’s now been about 8 emails later and 20 days, (almost a month) and absolutely nothing has happened. So all in all it’s been 4 months!!! Without a watching machine.

I’ve had many promises that a team from Hi sense will be coming out to check on the machine and they are waiting to hear back from Hi Sense. Clearly, though no one is actually doing any follow up at all and once again this is really unfair on us and is just more that unacceptable service and as mentioned actually stealing.

So unless this issue is seen to and dealt with by the end of the week with us more than fair, I will demand the washing machine be collected and we get a full refund?

I will then also start giving some fair and detailed feedback on sites like Hello Peter etc etc.

Please can someone get in touch with us today?

Loot.co.za POOR after sales

I ordered a replacement battery for my laptop. Loo.co.za sent the incorrect battery. It has been two full weeks since I logged my return and it has still not been resolved. I was forced to go out and buy a battery from another supplier. Loot.co.za really needs to look at they process if they want to stay in this highly competitive market. Takealot is so much more efficient. I would in future rather buy from Takealot even if the price is higher. They after sales service is so much better. Miles apart. I will not support Loot.co.za again.

Poor services and late delivery

Ordered a product from them via bidorbuy on the 9th Dec 2021. Upon numerous queries on courier tracking number, I was told they will only be able to give it to me when the product when the couriers pick it up. I then asked when estimated delivery time might be, the tell me the 29th December!! A Christmas gift delivered AFTER Christmas. Now, a day before expected delivery, I get an e-mail saying delivery will only be made around the 10th January! I get international packages delivered quicker than that! Absolutely poor services allround considering the excellent services you get from Takealot. Absolutely would NOT recommend

Poor service and product quality

I trust that you are well. Disappointed and in disbelief regarding. Bought an air fryer from loot and it turned out to be faulty. loot took the air fryer back and ended up losing it at a depo for 10+ days. loot refused to give a refund and are now demanding a 15% fee. Please can you advise how this is going to be resolved? This was extremely poor product and service quality.

Loot is the perfect name

Loot is the perfect name for this company. If you want simplicity of returns, great communication, speedy response times, and accurate information from staff then rather use Takealot, Bidorbuy, or even Amazon in the US. All exemplary on many occasions. I ordered a book from Loot to be delivered to my mother who has Altzheimers and realised it was the wrong one. Within half an hour of ordering, I logged a return request. When there was no response, I spoke to a customer service agent who assured me that although Loot had sent the parcel, it would not be delivered, just turned around. Essential, because my mother has no ability to return something herself. The book was delivered, my mother didn't understand and opened the parcel as I had told the agent she might. The spine was broken but she couldn't repackage the book anyway. Her carers were not able to do it for her as the packaging had already been thrown away. I accept that every company makes mistakes, but it took two months of back-and-forth emails in which Loot refused to do anything unless the book was returned in mint condition. They kept sending me emails telling me this and wishing me a lovely day!!! After two months of insisting on both a refund and a call from a senior person with decision-making power, they offered to credit my account. I told them I did not ever wish to use Loot again and required a refund for their appalling service but they were adamant. After several weeks, when I'd all but given up, apparently I missed the call from the 'senior person' (this is why they got a one star instead of the zero I wish I could have allocated) and they never tried again, and the number was lost in a host of missed calls that day. I put in another request for a call and three weeks later am still waiting - with my phone close by. In two months I only ever dealt with agents whose hands were tied. Finally, I had no choice but to agree to the credit. I am so frustrated and am now forced to use this ridiculous company again to use up the credit. Horrific and hugely time-consuming experience.

NEVER ORDER FROM LOOT- They will loot your time and money

I would highly recommend you NEVER ORDER anything from this company. One wonders how they are still in biz? I ordered 2 books, Never heard a word from them. I had to follow up and ask where my order is, then suddenly my order was available sans one of the books, and no communication from them at all. I also have not been refunded for the book I never got!
Disgusting. Again I strongly advise you do not make use of this company's services.

They are very bad do not respond on emails i have ordered a book on the 28 September 2021 and are now on the 19 October and have no respond to them regarding my order when i call they just have a lot of stories I will never order from them again i will tell every body how bad they are this is really ridicules.

Mixed emotions

I ordered a cellphone on Loot, and afterwards I read the reviews online. I was in a state of shock, thinking that I lost my money. Well, they came through and delivered my phone before the expected delivery date. Well done for the timely delivery!

However, when I placed my order, I paid with my card, and they deducted more from my account than the price they put on the site, and the invoice amount is also not the amount they deducted. I tried contacting them regarding the funds they deducted incorrectly, but it's impossible to get hold of them.

Great customer service

I’ve used these guys for my online shopping a number of times and they’ve only come short once and thankfully the item wasnt an emergency. But I’ve tried and tested them, great customer service

Loot are such LIARS!!!!

Loot are such LIARS!!!!
State on their site they have stock/item in stock with supplier when it's not.
Also claim on their site delivery 24 hours, I am waiting for a delivery for two months now. Contacted supplier, they don't have stock and won't have stock on the estimated delivery date advised by Loot.

Stop supporting The Loot

I wanted to order some books for my nephews as a gift, and decided to use The Loot. They said that they had stock in all four of the books I wanted to order. I placed my order and paid for it, received confirmation of my order. A week later I received an email that they don’t have stock and will have to order it in. That’s Okay! I waited a month. Then I receive an email from Carter, the delivery service that my parcel is arriving, the driver would be arriving in 6 minutes. It’s been 3 weeks since my parcel is arriving. I have emailed The loot multiple times, been very patient. I tell them I haven’t received my parcel and they email me that it has been delivered. I wouldn’t be emailing them if I received the parcel. Since that I haven’t received a single reply. I have tried asking for for a refund, but have yet to receive a reply. I don’t know how this company is still in business, they aren’t capable of running an online business.

I had to give them a star to be able to write my review, they are not even worth minus 5 starts. The business model is in the name of the company, they are out to loot your money. I bought a mobile phone which upon attempting to use it said that it had a software error. The reply from the company was that the supplier did not cover software faults which meant that they were not going to collect the item or refund the item. That is selling faulty products without taking responsibility or intention to rectify the injustice that has been visited upon me by Loot.co.za. I would advise anybody who is considering buying from these crooks, don't even think about it.

poor aftersales

hello there, on 31st of August last year I purchased a xiaomi robovac ( worth approximately R5000) from LOOT for my eldery aunt who was just run over by a car and had a hip replacement.
she received it on the 10th of September and was working well until the 1st of February when it started giving filter issues.
Even upon replacing the filter it still didn't work so we turned to Loot the place of purchase as this item was only five months in use, very well looked after and clearly still under warranty.
on two occasions, phone calls were made. Loot REFUSED to take this item back and have it checked, but what's more they also REFUSED to give me the name of the company or person from whom they have sourced it, so I could take it up with that company.
they did however give me the number of mobile in africa where I could possible have it checked and repaired. so we did just that.
Four times they had it picked up via courier. And four times we received it back with the original fault and was told to return it to the point of purchase.
but how do you return something if the point of sales refuse to take it back or give you the name of the person from whom they have sourced it.
I wonder.....is it true what I hear....that mobile in africa are indeed sourcing most of loot's xiaomi appliances?
I wish I knew that Loot only had a 1'8 star rating on Hello Peter before the purchase.

Loot fails to deliver

Loot fails to deliver, I ordered a printer which they claim they have in stock. Paid then by ETF. They even acknowledged my payment. I selected corrier service instead they said it will be delivered by 1April 2021. Today is 4th April and nothing received.
