I'm a disabled person that was denied legal aid. My lawyer did not do his/her job and help me in my case the way it should have been done. I asked for a new lawyer and legal aid denied me despite the fact that I have legal needs and I cannot afford a lawyer. Canada is supposed to be a country that supports people who have legal issues and they do not support people through legal aid who have disabilities. The legal system in canada is poor and do not help disabled people.

First you are only given one chance to talk to a lawyer. She said there was nothing she could but to let her know if I found more emails with the threats. I send her some other things that would work in legal court I begged her to please take it to court. I asked if she could get back to me at all.
She finally said Ms. Harris, you need to stop texting me. Legal Aid is not representing you. Your case is closed. I will not be responding to further texts.
I tried to call legal aide to ask about maybe getting me another Lawyer. I was told my case is closed. I am disabled I am able to walk but I really needed a lawyer. I spoke to one lawyer Liza but that was it

Awful place… managers can’t manage a thing. Very clicky, backstabbing do anything to get one over on you… then when you speak up and make a complaint your dismissed the following day!!!

They will reject timesheets without advising staff so payday comes around and people haven’t been paid. Messing with people’s finances and livelihoods… shocking company

I was seeking help with a personal injury case and help writing a petition. The guy I spoke to told me that I would hear from someone by the end of the day and it has been 2 days. I paid my $19 and no calls or emails. I want my money back today

Total scam! Misrepresentation from staff, told one thing delivered nothing! Better AI from Gemini or Microsoft 365. Both free services. Customer service number wanted to sell more products. Asked for refund 12 wrong AI calls later, 3 more product pitches, I got actual person. Tried to extend service when I asked for refund. Told him I was going to call the bank for a pull back of funds. He said I would see refund in 7 to 10 days. Calling my bank now! Stay away!

A countinuation from previous review. This service also prefers to switch labels from that of themselves, to what we actually do or did for a living. The prefer to place and define you as a criminal war crime offender right from day one. Ensure you are under a lifetime Psychiatry malpracticed assessment, only you are not aware of that until it is too late. Child of not brutally violated first, etc, then dead or handicapped by the age of 7., organised and orchestrated by those they enforce a case on behalf of., ie, usually that of themselves, whether via coersion, dictatorship, disruption, obstruction, or any other measure they see fit for that of themselves. And if you are enforced or do make any form of payment, their statement then being, now you have accepted liability and reliability we will continue against your children and familie(s) whether you personally like it or not. Nothing but a scheming, thieving scamming organisation. 27 years later, I am still trying to bring my son home, with the complete knowledge that they have done everything possible, not only to instruct and continue against us and to keep us silent, but disabled in ways that you would never believe. There is more information that I could provide, but that is basically the jist. Particularly when they believe they can utilise the opposition(s) to do do the dirty work for them, and if not, on how they prefer to send it all in anyway under what they define is the rights for all their own criminal law services. Just to ensure we all remain banged up, locked up and remained silent, held down, bruised up, defined as a preferred victim and or a criminal war crime, again right from day one, for a deliberate and life time drug overhaul on the cases they prefer to represent, usually that of themselves for themselves for a cheap money making scam, and to define on who is more powerful. Whether to prove a point and or prove a score, or not. And that's basically on how they all prefer to operate. What improvements could be considered. For them all to be abolished. Exactly the same way they all believe they can abolish all of us.

Explained that ex and family had admitted to using make up to paint bruises and had been abusing me and have proof of it but they didn't care. I stated she was keeping my kids from me. They denied me and then reported that I was going to kill myself because i was being dramatic. It actually hurt me to call this quack show. Too bad I'm not a woman guess.

If I could give NO stars, that would be even better. You say free legal aid, and then you ask for payment to send information for people near me that work with what I need. What a joke, scam, crock of shit. Literally have no money at the moment and in-between jobs.

Have you stopped paying my solicitor now for my representation? Police need to be sued ASAP but no one has given any help. RIP 🇬🇧

After 6 years I recieved a bill for $1300 .
My so called lawyer barely spent an hour with me .Do these lawyers charge $1300 an hour ?
Nz legal aid lawyers are the bottom of the pile .
I had to spend two months extra in custody because another NZ legal aid lawyer missed my trial date .
Another NZ legal aid lawyer couldn't be bothered even showing up for my case and he was in the same building .
Lodging complaints against these incopetant toe rags to their bosses is an absolute joke .
Defending yourself against the corrupt NZ police without having to mortgage your house ,facing false charges is the end of you .

Multiple of their lawyers didn’t return my calls. One finally did and referred me to an amazing lawyer who has nothing to legal aid, BUT WATCH OUT!

I agreed to pay the $19 dollars after the $1 charge to keep my account with them just in case. I no longer needed their services so I called and cancelled, but was still being charged a monthly $18 fee.

Turns out they work with another company who was charging me another monthly fee for “protection”? So even though my account was cancelled I was still being charged to protect it? I was not told about this and was not given information to call and cancel this if I call to cancel my legal aid account. I had to call the 800 number that was on the charge with my bank. All legal aid said was “well why don’t you call them to handle it.”

The protection services will not refund me even though my account was cancelled.

They don't help with eviction cases they worthless to use very worthless to a point everybody says use them don't it's a waste of time.

Attorney lied and forced me to pay admission of guilt.

Useless. Absolutely useless. A waste of time yours! Do not bother calling. Again not put in place to help you truly!!

Legal-aid-now has been a total waist of my time. They say they will help my better half when they are needed. Well they didn't tell you that they charge $1.90 for the first 7 days, and if things aren't resolved it would be 19.99 for x-amount of weeks or whatever. Well my better half had filed a PPO non domestic relationship against a neighbor for threats of gun fire, two attempts of
arson, breaking out the windows, firing gun shots into our home, and I could go on. Filed hundreds of police reports with the span of 14 years, and nothing got done to the neighbor. The police are just as bad, and neither one of us can afford to move. If we could we would have a long time ago. We are both on disability, and can't afford to hire an attorney. The neighbor filed a motion to terminate, and we need a lawyer badly but got no where. The service is a joke.

WE NEED AN ATTORNEY BADLY, NO THANKS TO THIS COMPANY WE ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE ONE! So my better half will just let the PPO get terminated.

Legal aid is a joke twice I applied with these people to say the least I pasted both time and it seemed like it took forever just to be told you qualify but your case is not worth are time im on a fixed income im on disability cos of my cancer got diagnosed with stage four cancer 3 years ago and had to retire so I've have so serious things happened to me in the last couple of years just to have the door 🚪 slam in my face they tell you qualify but it's kind of like saying it's not worth our time and there always coming out on local news by say we're here for you the people of this city and Counties we're here to help anyone who can't afford a lawyer and we're here for free depending on your income I really think it's more like it depends on your last name or the color of your skin cos I can't afford a real lawyer, so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place cos I qualify cos of my disability of income but not worth there time and I don't have the millions to hire a real lawyer and iv hit a dead end and thus last some individuals came to my door selling there services and there local and started some work a some projects like tree trimming mowing the lawn for a great deal I couldn't refuse so we made the deal and shook hand like I've done a million times before and never had any problems with other land scappers but this time I came across so scam artist ask me for an advance out of the deal we made for a total was $225.00 I gave them $150.00 bucks and they to the money and didn't even do have the job left me hanging in more ways then one and I gave them the money cos they claimed one of there equipment they we're using broke and they needed $150.00 bucks cos that's what the part was gonna cost them to get it fixed never will that happen again and I need help to keep this from happening to others like older people like me or the elderly cos I do know if I was the first sucker or amongst other and like I said there locals these scammers I don't want these to happen to someone else they need to be stopped legally but I don't have the resources to stop this from these scammers to keep from stealing innocent people's money leaving them high and dry cos it may not seem like $150.00 bucks cash is pennies to the dollar to some people especially legal aid but when your on disability and on a fixed income you got to watch every penny unfortunately money dont grow on my trees it may to others by not on my trees cos like my first experience when it sounds to good to be true 9 times out of 10 it's a scam it is and now I probably ain't never gonna see my money again but I'll keep trying I've only got names and phone numbers but no addresses and the County where I'm from jp's office at the courthouse told me if you have no addresses we can't send out letters so small claims court summons them to court cos this is my first time I've done this has happened to me that I can recall ever so I am mad to say the least etc.

I was approved for legal aid and two years later, just 2 weeks prior to the hearing, they abandoned me, even though they stated I was in the right. House lawyer, Toni, is absolutely incompetent and useless. What a joke! They stand by you till the hearing comes! Legal aid is nothing but a waste of time and if you have no choice, be sure to see anyone but Toni because she's uneducated and careless.

What service ?
I've had a few cases over the past 28 months with Legal Aid and I'll rate the service 10%.
I even lodged a complaint in February 2024 at Legal Aid and it's stated that I'd be contacted with regards to my complaint within 2 days.
It's now close to 2 months later and I got nothing back.

While using legal aid seamed to be he was there to help them not me he allowed them to threaten and intimidate me even though it was a pretty easy case he made it alot harder for me worked against me when at the end of it all it was just accusations nothing more he made it more difficult for me any thing I said to him was disregarded even my decisions he over ruled did what he wanted basically trying to find a way to sink me but when all failed cause false accusation can not become facts they bailed left my life in ruins from the damaged that was done by a legal aid worker who decided to tell me all the wrong things to help currupt government workers so if your problem is with a government agency don't bother legal aids in there pocket
