We tried satellite Internet

We tried satellite Internet as an alternative to our copper 1 Meg BT service.
Sadly it did not perform as well as expected, and so we cancelled our subscription.
I would like to say that the level of customer service and level of communication far outshone BT, and if the tech can be improved I would return.

The assistant I got was very helpful…

The assistant I got was very helpful and informative she explained how I was to pay for the monthly bill .Have to admit Direct Debt would of been better for me but they said they were working on it .

Works BUT.....

It would be unfair to say that the system doesn't work; it does, but it connects at its own speed and suffers signal 'hanging'. The initial connection speed advised, .6/.8 sec, is fantasy on my installation. And installation raises another issue. Although attached to a stone exterior wall the fact that the installer had to cut a short length of scaffold pole to add a few feet (4, or there abouts) to achieve a line of sight added £189 to the 'free installation'. The two invoices that I received during my 60 day free trial had this amount on but marked paid (free installation). Only after I elected to keep the system for a year was I then re-charged with £189.00.
Why is there a problem with them setting up DD payments? Some past issue that prohibits Konnect from using the system?
I'll be searching for a replacement service over the next few months; can't see this crew improving.
Oh, and beware the white cable used to connect the dish to the building entry point. Looks hideous.

Quick to answer and very good advice and customer service

Was having trouble with my Internet connection but was due to my going well over my priority allowance. My call was answered quickly and spoke to Susan who was great, very knowledgeable and was brilliant in helping me resolve the issue and come to a solution.
Great customer service which is welcome given we don't have a lot of choice in rural Ireland. Nice to see they don't take advantage of that.

To be honest

To be honest, I thought your packages were attractive for an avid internet user such as I. That's why I had such high hopes when I saw you guys install the hardware at my apartment. Since then, it's been a month without the internet connection. And when you call the sales, they are all like, "That's Not My Department!" Incase you are wondering where this is, it's Kahawa West, Nairobi, Kenya

Chance of getting an engineer to schedule an appointment, bordering on non existent.

I need to point out That customer service and technical phone in service is great. Getting an engineer to call to schedule an on-site visit- appalling. Informed engineer would call within 48 hours of logging request. No call. Called technical again, informed engineer needs another 24 hours before able to call. Still nothing. Now I’m informed engineer needs another 4 (four) days before able to call to schedule an appointment. Providing engineer calls within 4 days I would’ve waited a total of 11 days for engineer to call. Totally not acceptable. The satellite connection is our only link to the outside world as live in rural farming.
I drive an hour to receive a mobile signal to call Konnect, yet the engineer can’t be bothered to spend 3 minutes calling a customer.

I spoke to Sandra Wright at 1239hrs…

I spoke to Sandra Wright at 1239hrs today, 22 Feb 22.
Sandra was professional, helpful and very knowlegdable indeed she helped enormously. Having been a client of Konnect since it became separate from Bigblu, I have been impressed by the Customer Service staff on all occasions. I can write that as the months have gone by there has been a considerable improvement in the knowledge of the Konnect system by its staff. Sadly tho' I am considering moving from Konnect as the package that I was sold is not what it actually is, this is well documented. In summary todays delaing withn Sadra Wright was OUTSTANDING.

Clarification needed!

I wanted to know why the monthly charge was still at €29.99, as I had opted for the next option up. Also to understand why broadband still freezing etc. The agent was pleasant, helpful, and explained clearly. She was "Excellent" at her job.

Really helpful Team

Really helpful Team, had a problem with WiFi, which may have been due to storm and signal, not sure but the person at Konnect checked things there and got me up and running in no time.

My sales enquiry

The attention and time that phone contact gave me was excellent. The app helped to find where the satellite is and it showed that the service will work for our particular location.

Great service

Super easy to get connected and setup, the help centre staff were always friendly and helpful. The lag was sometimes frustrating, but that's technology. I have just disconnected from Konnect as I no longer need a second ISP post pandemic/lock down. Super easy to disconnect, no fuss. Thanks Konnect!

Konnect does a good job for what I need it to do.

Konnect is a pretty good services with limits. It is slow with a high ping of 600 to 700 MS and can go up to 1000 MS. Weather will affect the speed and sometimes drops out. The one thing you have to do once a month or two is unplug the modem as it can just stops, but once powered back on again it will work as normal. If there is objects in the path of the signal it will also affect it's speed or stop working.

With all that said it is a very good service and the agents I have spoken with have been nothing but helpful. The engineer we had who installed the equipment did a nice and clean job. (Which I think is a bigger factor if you get a good service or not.) I have had Konnect for just under a year and have 3 kids watching Youtube on it. It can be slow in the evenings and their website and billing could do with a big upgrade, but they appear to be newish company and I am pretty happy with the service to date.

Very helpful

I have a problem using my voip phone. Goldfish (provider) believe it might be an upload speed problem because I can hear others, but they cannot hear me. They tried to test the speed from their end but were unable to do so. My speed tests show no significant problems, but it is very variable and I do get frequent drop outs.

Your customer services were extremely helpful and are sending an engineer to improve the signal strength. Obviously I won't know if it works until the engineer has been.

Really poor

Like most people I opted for a Konnect package in lieu of any other viable alternatives, as somene that moved to a very rural location. The headline speeds & packages look OK but there are 4 reasons why, as a customer, Konnect is not fit for purpose:

1) Ping - this isn't their fault (nature of the tech) but its critical as a user. When you use the internet with satellite broadband everything happens on a lag due to the slow ping (because of distance travelled). BBC iPlayer, Netflix all ping when you connect to them and so often it rejected me even though online. Video calls like Teams / Zoom all happen with a lag just long enough to be soul destroying. When you search Outlook on a computer it pings the mailbox server. All a nightmare. I tried working from home using Konnect and its taken me months to recover after the difficulty it caused me.

2) Data limits and what happens when you exceed. Once you hit the definitely-not-clear data limits (which we did very quickly having no other form of TV or way to connect for work so am on calls all day) the speed hits the floor. Now you have a glacial ping and no bandwidth - consequently, nothing works at all because nothing can properly connect.

3) Instability - our system consistently just fell over and there was no way to get it back up without calling the customer services to do resets from their end (and yes I did try restarting routers and all that). That's painful enough but very relevant to next point...

4) Customer services - the company is run like a government agency. 8-5pm, weekdays and limited weekend technical support. Your internet goes down at 4:59pm on a Friday? you have to wait until Saturday morning to get it sorted. No out of hours coverage. As a "utility" style service this is absurd - especially when it fell over every week or two.

One year review

Just completed a year with konnect satellite internet package,
Very pleased with service ,never failed
us even in atrocious weather when power lines were down
If full fibre isn,t available this is worth considering
