excellent service from start to finish - it's good to know that I was dealing with the best provider in the area

I went with HeatGeek for my ASHP, after watching lots of Adam's YouTube videos and being interested in green tech. Really liked his systemic approach, keen to "think differently" and right-size a system for your house.

Was really impressed with the whole process, from beginning to end they kept me informed and my local heat geek was excellent. The install went fine, the installer was tidy and showed me everything as well as was happy to answer my questions/support me.

The system installed has been super efficient, house is constantly a set temperature which is lovely. Took me a while to get the settings right, but they offered lots of support if I needed it.

Was so impressed with them, that I used them again for an ASHP with my mother's property several months later with a different installer.. where we had a similarly excellent experience. Nothing but positive things to say.

They aren't the cheapest, but I believe the heating, install, experience etc was well worth it.

Our heatpump and new radiators were installed nearly 9 months ago. Darren, our local installer, has been hugely helpful and the backroom stuff from Heat Geek has all gone well. A few very minor issues which have been easily resolved. We've now had a winter including some proper cold. We've not been cold - And our house is 1894 Victorian semi. It works!

They were easy to deal with, and the whole process went like clockwork.

The initial Heat Geek process was simple and efficient with all relevant information provided through their online portal. The few queries I had for Heat Geek to deal with (rather than the installer) were handled very efficiently.

The installation process was easy to initiate and handled very efficiently. The home inspection and assessment was carried out by Nick of Duo Heating supported by IT tools from Heat Geek, providing a formal installation quote very quickly following the visit. The installation itself involved significant work and was carried out as advised beforehand, with no major surprises. The team were well organised, pleasant and informative, and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves every day.

The system has worked perfectly since it was installed, and we are very happy with it.

I have been monitoring Heat Geeks for several years and had no hesitation in awarding them this project. It was a big job that involved the ASAHP and radiator installation. The team they sent were very professional and did there work well in a friendly manner. The system was very professional for initial contact to final commissioning.. Highly recommended.

I had quotes from Aira, my local Heat Geek, and a couple of other companies. I'd learned what was involved and done all the calcs ahead of time so I knew what I needed etc. I had to get a Vaillant Arotherm to keep under the MCS permitted development noise limitations that hilariously the local council policy states you have to apply for planning permission then they check if it's effectively within permitted development, and approve your application.

Aira sales people apparently don't understand the regulations and adamently tried to sell me something I couldn't get under permitted development due to noise values on the spec sheet.

A local independant did a superb quote, but their CEO liked to argue with reviewers and the customer service was poorly rated.

I went with the local Heat Geek option in the end, because I dealt directly with the owner who knew what he was talking about and was very honest and direct.

The regualtion mandated MCS survey comes out pessimistic. So it was a little more than my estimate and that all tracked as expected. They did the maths right. MCS said I had to swap my chrome bathroom radiator for an otherwise identical matt black one to get enough heat output in that room otherwise I didn't qualify for the grant (not joking) and that cost about £70. Appart from that, they installed the outdoor unit, removed the gas boiler, installed a 200L Vaillant tank, removed the hydronic under floor heating pump and rebalanced the emitters.

It was about four days total work. Heating was off for two. Hot water might have been off for less than a day (then on via immersion heater until heat pump was commissioned a day later).

I'm getting a SCOP of about 4. It wasn't cheap. But it was done before they'd done enough installations to launch their "cheaper than a boiler" installation options. I also required a more premium Vaillant heat pump which increased the system price. And since it was a system they had less experience with, it took them a bit more time and effort to get it right.

The system hasn't skipped a beat in the year it's been installed now.

The yearly service cost was £240 and quite frankly that's robbery compared to a gas boiler service. Less work done for more money. And it's borderline blackmail given you have to have it done to keep your manufacturer warranty.

Since I understand the science, I personally wouldn't hesitate to get a non Heat Geek to install the system to my spec, or to self install. However, if you haven't learned the science then a Heat Geek should literally guarentee that you get a high quality install that functions as you need it to.

If you're getting a heat pump installed, Heat Geek are the only people I trust to get it right first time, because they're just about the only people who actually understand what they're doing. I'd also trust Urban Plumbers, but he's not got national coverage.

If I could give zero star absolutely shocking togs been warned they just going to rip you off straight. Nothing less every stage of the process was substandard total nightmare seriously just avoid I can guarantee its run like a scam please go to another company you've been warned run.
Start with weeks waiting for a response then You'll pay the consultation fee then then your locked in to get ripped off now your committed trust me don't bother using these you'll get half a job at the maximum price and invoiced for items that you won't get so forget them. Terrible service and communication. It took several weeks to be connected with an expert, another month before they came to visit and then two months later I have been ghosted by both heatgeek and the expert.

Even having written twice to their complaints email, I still have not heard anything back from heatgeek.

So I thought let me contact Heat Geeks after seeing so many of their YouTube videos.

I sent an enquiry in for a Black Label design as I'm doing a large renovation, this was submitted to them on the 11th December 2025. Then radio silence until the 6th Jan with an email asking to cough up £800 for a design service.

err no thanks. No calls, no interest in learning about the project, nothing. Just a straight up ask for a lot of money to probably run some heat loss calculations which I can do myself in Excel.

A bit of advice for you guys, if you want to drum up business then provide a base proposal without demanding cash upfront and perhaps talk, give the prospective customer a call. I don't see the need to pay for someone to get my business, it's usually the other way around in the real business world.

I've now gone direct to local installers, some of which are heat geek approved, whatever that is meant to mean, it's not like they are a governing body or anything.

Applied online for a quote and still no sign of the next stage to get to a appointment after a week waiting, contacted similar companies who install heat pumps and contact and site visit booked within a day , they look good on YouTube but perhaps not so good in real time .

I think they are good technically and I applaud what they are trying to achieve. Where they fall down is the lack of transparency on their quotes. During the process, I received four: £1950, £3000 and £4450 (online estimates on different days) and one after the survey £6300. The survey revealed I needed a smaller unit (7kW instead of 10kW) and one fewer rad changes (just one change in total) than the online estimates had said. (We did discuss the possibility of a new vented cylinder with a longer coil.) So why did the price go UP at all never mind by so much? What was missing was a breakdown of the costs so we could examine and discuss the components of the quote. I just felt I was being quoted random numbers with a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. £7500+£6300 = £13800 is a heck of a price for a boiler out, heat pump in and a rad change. This given their hype surrounding Zero Disrupt (which implies minimal work) sets the expectation that a really simple install might even be entirely covered by the grant. I should also add that at no point did anyone from Heat Geeks mention that I needed a EPC to get the grant and that this may require additional changes to my home. I requested and received my survey money back.

Sooo disappointed ... was really excited to get my survey and price back having watched loads of heat geek videos and seeing that the minimal disturbance approach enabled "60% of homeowners to get a heat pump for less than the cost of a replacement gas boiler". I already knew I had a low heat loss home, so was pretty confident I should be in that 60% - but no .... not only was the original estimate a little over what I´d spend on a gas boiler replacement - but the overall cost came back 850 quid more - despite requiring a smaller heat pump and two less radiator changes than the estimate. A base was needed in the garden - but not sure how it all added up. On top of that, they somehow doubled the cost of water tanks from their initial estimate (adding around 1100 GBP), if I´d wanted a better scop .... Anyway - if I´d known that their advertising was so misleading I would never have paid the 250 quid for the survey ...

Ripoff! I was asked to pay over £800 for a design consultation as part of a new service, despite having already signed up for a consultation at £250. This felt misleading. A business cannot introduce new services, raise charges after a customer has signed up, and then insist on an upgrade. Heat Geek should have simply honoured the original offering available at the time of my purchase.

Such an unfortunate way to handle an install. I wish I could rate higher, because the pump itself is quite good. Not really averaging the level they quoted consistently but it's not bad.

The contractors though, wow, all except 1 were just plain unprofessional. If it was just the cursing I could live with it, but when you hear them bad mouthing the last guys work (and more than once) you can't help but wonder what you're getting for such a large investment. The lead contractor tried to blame it on guys being guys, sorry that's a sad cop out, for us as a gender and professionals everywhere.

Beyond that, damage to the house, very poor if any communication from the lead guys team. Walked out into the hallway to see they'd torn the fittings off around my loft hatch and damaged the ceiling. No one thought to get my opinion on that. That's just one instance as well. Luckily that was repaired, albeit with filler, not exactly as good as. Some other stuff I've had to fix myself. Like after they dumped the dirty old system water down the toilet leaving a black stain, they said they would sort it but its been months and we've had people over so I couldn't just leave it. Minor other bits too.

What really gets me is, you'd think someone in this profession would think around what they're doing - "How will this affect the rest of the house, are there any concerns" but no, they caused two leaks and damage to my shower with the increased pressure. All of which could have been easily avoided by closing the shut off valves we have to the shower or checking the state of the pipes you'd just been cutting before going on lunch. The guy did have a look at the shower but only managed to make it worse really, the temperature and pressure dials are lose now and it can take over a minute to get warm sometimes.

I tried contacting the main heatgeek team and they got back to me but not really with any solutions, just said to contact the main guy essentially. I don't care much to try again, I have no faith in any of them left. More than 2 months and I still have a leaky shower.

Was a waste of time selecting HeatGeek for a potential heat pump install. Paid the £375 up front for the design consultation and awaited the appointment. I was immediately assigned an installer but the appointment went to my junk mail. In chasing when my appointment, I didn't receive good communication from the installer who insinuated he'd called me a number of times (once with a voicemail) and on the day of the appointment he didn't turn up - it seemed like he'd forgotten the appointment despite me confirming the day before. Re-arranged to give the benefit of the doubt and 45 mins after the agreed time, I had to call to chase. Received another excuse and I decided to cancel the whole thing and apply for a refund. If I can't trust the installer to communicate or turn up, I won't be trusting them with a £15k install.

Lets be honest, getting a heat pump is a worrying thing to do. Lost count of the times i've been told it won't work in our bungalow. It's too big, too much heat loss and “you'll be cold and cost a fortune.”

Well, i used heatgeek and their local installer (APEX Heating in Essex). The whole experience was interesting, the highest quality and the net result is i'm blown away by the install and how it all works.

Quite frankly, i think it's run on voodoo magic. We're all toasty and warm and it sips energy.

Some key points I've learnt:
1. Heat pumps offer a completely different approach to heating compared to traditional gas boilers. They operate using a gentle, continuous, low-and-slow principle rather than the frequent on/off cycling we're used to with gas.
2. The result is an even warmth throughout the house—no more uncomfortable hot and cold spots. Our home has genuinely never felt this consistently comfortable. Previously, no matter how many times we tried to balance or adjust radiator temperatures, some rooms were always too warm while others remained cold. Now, every room feels just right.

Regarding heatgeek specifically: I think what they are doing is so important. They are educating the industry and home owners and providing a pathway to get the UK into efficient heating systems. They are to be commended. In my opinion, this company alone is having a significant impact on our climate goals. They are an important key unlocking the problem. The independent guarantee they provide is a game changer.

For context, I’ve got a 5 bed bungalow with lots of windows so a relatively high heat loss. We’ve got loft insulation and 15yr old double glazing. We have wall insulation, but it was done in 1970 and I’ve had it camera inspected and apparently, it’s not really doing much anymore.

It works for us. I’ve not run it all year yet, but at circa 7 degrees outside we’ve been too warm and had to turn the system down. So I have no doubt that it’ll be fine in sub-zero temps. Sure it won’t be ‘sipping’ energy as it does now but it’ll be cheaper than our gas boiler.

It has been an expensive upfront cost (even with the government grant), but it's clear we'll make all that back over time.

I’ve no idea if it’ll work in all scenarios, but heatgeek's approach is to do a full/detailed analysis of the property FIRST. Then design the requirements around it.

But considering they provide an independent guarantee that it’ll work to a level of 400% efficiency and that you’ll be warm, they’ll tell you if your property is not suitable.

Finally, I’m actually really annoyed that I took us this long to make the switch. I believed all that I read in the papers and was told from traditional gas boiler plumbers. They were utterly wrong. Heat pumps are an important component of tackling this countries reliance on fossil fuel. I think it’s bordering on criminal that people are allowed to spout such false and misleading information.
