I was nervous using Happy Gringo at first. I’d never heard of it before, it wasn’t coming personally recommended from someone I knew, I usually book all of my own travel arrangements directly instead of going through agents, and bookings in the Galápagos involve a lot of money.

But I couldn’t have had a more positive experience. I worked with Nico, and he was incredibly helpful and responsive. He answered my questions, even my dumb ones, very promptly and clearly. And he checked in with me once my trip had started to see if things were going smoothly. I will be happily recommending Nico and Happy Gringo to any of my friends and family traveling to Ecuador in the future.

Also, I know the review is about Happy Gringo as an agency but because I wish I’d been able to find more feedback about the products they connect you to beforehand - I did the 5-day H itinerary aboard the Fragata. The Fragata isn’t luxury but it has everything you need and is quite comfortable. The crew and our guide were great. And the itinerary was a great intro to the Galápagos. I travel a lot, and this was one of my favorite experiences I’ve had.

I first met a representative of the Happy Gringo Travel company at a travel show in January. I was excited to hear that they specialize in Ecuador, because my wife and I had decided we wanted to return to the Galapagos in the fall of this year and we hoped to include the Amazon rainforest. We contacted several travel companies with specific requirements that we wanted in our trip. For example, we knew the Galapagos itinerary that we wanted to book and we wanted air conditioning in the Amazon. Nico, from Happy Gringo listened intently to our requests and delivered an itinerary that met our requirements. Other companies, even the one we had used previously, kept suggesting alternatives that didn't match with what we were looking for. Happy Gringo delivered big-time, now I just need to be patient and wait for November!

So far, we have had excellent service in choosing the itinerary and arranging our trip. We are at the stage when we have paid the deposit. We requested numerous changes and they were all dealt with promptly and willingly. We are grateful for all the trouble, expertise and assistance to date.

Nico listened to our ideas and is creating strip that meets our expectations and budget.
