Guardhog- a claim re damage from a theft during a guest stay

Marina was really helpful from the outset and highly efficient. At first I was frustrated as I was told the claim was not going to be looked but when I explained the situation thoroughly Marina listened and I felt she took on board what I said. She phoned the very next day after meeting with Humphrey and kept great communication throughout the claim. She has very good customer service, I was impressed.

good customer service!

A more informal and personal approach to insurance and Host Cover offers a solution to cover short lets. Easy to set up and manage. Good value. Always respond quickly and fairly to a query and even reduced my home contents cover premium without my requesting it! When I set up Home Contents insurance I was not very happy that the premium was payable monthly but understand that they are now also offering annual premium/payments. It’s nice to have a name to contact whenever I have a query.

At GUARDHOG we want to provide our customers with a flexible and customer friendly insurance product, which is why we have the monthly payable premium. This gives our customers the ability to pay month by month, knowing that should they need to cancel, they can do so with no cancellation charge because they had not been tied into an annual contract. Really, the monthly element is there to provide people with the ultimate level of flexibility with their insurance, which is something other insurers will have trouble offering.

Either way, glad our general experience with us has been a positive one and we look forward to keeping you covered!

Amateur House Letter
The terms and conditions of the GuardHog policy were clearly explained, particularly with the requirement of an underlying policy for the "Gap" cover to be effective. All in all a painless experience with prompt service from Chelsea and the others in the team.

Thus far, I have only high praise for this company and am delighted they are here to “plug an obvious gap”.

I have again signed up to use this company for our period of house-exchange this year.

Our very reputable, well-established insurance company refuse to insure belongings etc during a house-exchange; so it is very comforting to know we can use GuardHog as back-up.

With over 50 house-exchanges to our name and thus far no problems, it is nonetheless important to have that peace of mind when leaving our home.

I have just dealt with Chelsea-Demi by phone and she was exceedingly helpful, patient and charming. Thus far, I have only high praise for this company and am delighted they are here to “plug the gap”.

I think Guardhog are great to deal with. They listen and work out what is good for you , the client. They fill the gap other insurance companies cannot fill.

We would agree that if your Home insurer is happy to provide full cover when you have paying guests to stay, then that is definitely the way to go; in our experience very few insurers will do that though, so worth being really sure (in writing if you can) that your cover isn’t being restricted at all for the duration of the stay, especially around your potential liability to guests/for damage caused by guests.

With regard to our pricing, whilst I’m sorry the cost is more than you had expected, we do everything we can to make HOSTCOVER as accessible as possible to people, as we believe that being able to short-let property with confidence is a hugely positive thing for everyone concerned.

It’s worth pointing out that we carefully choose the insurance partners we work with (for their financial stability, flexibility and service levels rather than for being the very cheapest) and as such are supported by a selection of the most respected insurers in the industry. This has allowed us to provide a great service to people where things have gone very wrong, and they have needed to call on us to help put their homes right again… which I guess is when the value of an insurance policy is really put to the test.

GUARDHOG has covered hundreds of thousands of stays and is the insurance partner of choice for many of the leading property sharing businesses in the UK and Worldwide. Our inhouse claims team busily helps people when they have suffered a loss, including payouts into the £100,000s. As such we believe we provide great value peace of mind for the level of cover we provide.

As I said at the start, great if your home insurer will provide full cover for you, but if you do find there are any potential gaps then we are confident that we can prove our value if you give us the opportunity to do so.
