My experience is from last summer 2019, hired a car through advertising on Ryanair's website, appeared to be a good deal. Got to Milan Malpensa and similar to every story here was aggressively sold extra insurance despite the fact there was third party and I didn't need it. The sales person at the desk insisted that I would have an accident so I must take it. I had to get quite annoyed before she stopped! Also it's not the welcome you expect when you arrive late in the evening and you're about to get in a left-hand drive for some distance, also had me convinced I would have an accident!
Everything went OK with the car although was one hour late back with the car on return and got a hefty charge. This was July and then in December got an email from Goldcar saying I'd committed a road offence in Bologna and they (Goldcar) were going to take €55 off my credit card to tell me this!! I mistakenly thought that they were paying the fine but today I have received a notice from Holland (!) with the fine and how I could pay etc.
I'm shocked on two counts, firstly that Ryanair would choose to partner with these guys and secondly how terrible they are with customer service. €55 to tell me I got a fine!!! What's even worse is that they still had my credit card details on record when they should have destroyed them.
Wish I had read these reviews before I booked with them, never again, stick with a reputable brand.

Never use goldcar og rentalcars.com. They are liers and cheaters. Told us we had to pay deposit when we picked up the car but it was actually an extra charge of almost 200 euro. Furthermore, the car had a failure after 2 days and we got no help from customer service nor road assistance. Needed a new car and was heavily charged for the litlle gas we had used. A month after we came home they blocked additional 55 euros for a "ticket". No documentation provided at all. Neither time, date, place, car registration number, type of ticket or a copy of the ticket from the authorities. Had to close the card to prevent them from withdrawing money. We have made acomplaint but no response. We rented the car via rentalcars.com and they have not taken any repsonsibility either.

Nous venons de louer en sardaigne une toute petite voiture à Goldcar (voiture prise à Olibia et rendue à Cagliari) ;
A la location, nous n'avons pas prêté attention à la mention "credit cart", ERREUR grave. Car en France, nous avons quasi tous des cartes de DEBIT et non de CREDIT (c'est subtile).
Si le contrat précise que sans cette fameuse carte, GOLDCAR peut ne pas nous laisser la voiture , GOLDCAR ne précise pas qu'ils peuvent aussi nous louer la voiture contre plusieurs ajouts ce "couverture super" (copertura super en Italien" et autre "Addebito" ou "Restituzione veloce" ou "deposita carta di".
Le contrat initial était de 450 euros (à la virgule près) et au final, celà nous a coûté près de 800 euros pour 10 jours.
Donc fuyez ce type de location.!!!!!!

Hvis du ikke er der præcis til tiden så udlejer de bilen og opnår dobbelt indtjening - tyveri og ekstrem dårlig service. Brug dem aldrig.

Goldcar, der Partner vor Ort in Italien, Olbia hat uns vor Ort eine zweite Vollkaskoversicherung aufgedrängt. Da wir bei schon bei Buchung der Reise Deutschland eine Vollkasko-Versicherung beim deutschen PArtner Cardelmar gebucht hatten, wollten wir keine zweite. Dies sei aber kein Problem, weil es verrechnet werden würde und das zu viel gezahlte Geld rücküberwiesen werden würde, was aber trotz Nachfragen nie passiert ist. Den deutschen Partner Cardelmar interessiert dies nicht, obwohl das Partnerunternehmen natürlich auch sehen muss, an wen sie ihre Kunden weiter vermitteln und Goldcar Olbia ein bekanntes schwarzes Schaf ist. Das Netz ist voll von ähnlichen Geschichten von Goldcar in Partnerschaft mit Cardelmar.
Unbedingt Hände weg von diesen zwei Firmen!

STOP! Do not rent your car at Goldcar you will definitely be cheated

Goldcar are thieves and scammers, better to pay more for a known company. They WILL rip you off.

De udnytter, at man står i lufthavnen og har brug for bilen. Husk visa er et debetkort og ikke et kreditkort. De krævede flere hundrede ekstra euro, hvis vi skulle have bilen. Vi gik til herz, men måtte betale straf til Goldcar.

Goldcar are scammers. If you book through a broker such as Ryanair you can't get a refund and have the choice when you pick up of paying 300 euro deposit per day or paying 30 euro per day insurance.

Book hire cars directly from reputable companies. Don't risk using a broker.
