Doing the preparation course for the WSET Diploma's D3 unit, on light wines at The Global Wine Academy's with Enjoy Discovering Wine, was the most important decision I took and that I am very happy about. D3 unit is, without any doubt, the hardest part of the Diploma so I needed help to focus and preparation to get a final sucess. After finishing the workshop I can honestly confess you that it is well worth it to pass this high mountain and tough test. Jim and Erica, besides being incredibly generous people, are incredible professionals in the world of wine education. I have no doubt that without their help I would not have been able to get my DipWSET degree. Thanks again Erica and Jim!

I started the WSET Diploma in Wine just over a year ago. I went into course knowing how challenging it would be, but even so, I found the pace of learning and the depth & breadth of knowledge required began to make me question my abilities and confidence with wine. Working with Jim completely reversed those negative feelings.

Jim takes the time to know every student individually. He knows their strengths and weaknesses and therefore where to focus. He helps people to learn at their pace, and as well as teaching theory, acts as a great coach.

Jim understands what people want to achieve and provides practical help and support to get them there. His results speak for themselves, and I would have no hesitation in highly recommending him to anyone looking for extra help and support during their diploma studies.

I can't recommend GWA's D3 theory 'Match-Fit' workshops highly enough. Great structure (including online workshops with other students from around the world). Exceptional teaching from Jim and Erica. They provide lots of exam technique tips and practice questions. Crucially they teach you how to study the vast volume of D3 material effectively. Invaluable since I felt like I was drowning with too much information to learn. I would recommend having 3-6 months between the end of this course and the theory exam, to have time to put this learning into practice. I didn’t appreciate this and only had 3 weeks. Even with such a short time, this course gave me what I needed and I passed the exam first time.

I did both the Diploma Tasting Masterclass and Diploma Theory Workshops before the D3 exam last year and would highly recommend both. I was feeling completely overwhelmed and not at all confident about the D3 exams, but after the sessions with Jim and Erica (for theory) I went into the exams feeling more prepared than I've ever felt ahead of an exam, and I passed both parts. These courses aren't about revising the content of D3, they are about mastering exam technique and getting you exam ready. 100% worth the time and money!

I completed the D3 theory course with both Jim and Erica, in a small focussed group session, all online with zoom and classmates. This was a fantastic course, and the pandemic was no hurdle to get in the way of Jim/ Erica helping students pass this enormous unit. The teaching was exemplary, as so much of this course requires, understanding the 'know how' and exam techniques, and the importance of focusing on the issues at hand. I can highly recommend this Course, if anyone is in any doubt on how to pass this unit, every penny has been worth it. Not to mention their enthusiasm, which re-ignited my love of the wine world once again.

I took the match fit theory course and the tasting shortly before the D3 exam in May. Both were just what I needed. Match fit describes it well, not a revision course but instead using your knowledge to gain as many marks as possible from the essay questions - constantly 'linking to style'. The tasting course was also instruction in exam technique, with both blind tastings and exercises in writing effective tasting notes for the common grapes/wines. Both Jim and Erica were fantastic teachers - and the proof is the high student pass rate.

Fantastic course with great tutoring and content. Would highly recommend to anybody preparing for their D3 theory exam!

Jim’s support across sparkling, tasting and theory has been invaluable. I genuinely don’t know what I would’ve done without him. Just finished an all-day, 24-wine tasting masterclass with Jim and it was BRILLIANT! I did several in person in the run-up to my WSET Diploma and found them invaluable (and fun) but that was over a year ago and I have missed structured tasting. Now the masterclass if virtual and it was fantastic. Expertly chosen wines, terrific format and the whole thing beautifully organised. Whether you are prepping for an exam or just enjoy structured blind tasting, Jim's masterclasses are the business. I will be signing up for more.

Excellent. I agree wholeheartedly with what previous reviewers have said about Jim's knowledge and helpful advice. The class is totally worth the money. One bit of advice--if you are thinking of doing the online tasting course, do it sooner rather than later. The skills you learn in the course will help you throughout your D3 studies and in fact they will improve as you do more tasting and note-writing.

Time is tight. If you want focussed, clear, precise tutoring that cuts through all the noise and gets your head into a place where you are more likely to pass the WSET exams, then Jim Gore's Global Wine Academy is for you. His classes are full of tips on exam technique and highlight those points of difference between wines that you may not have thought of. Anyone can do blind tastings or WSET type classes but what you get with Jim is lots of extra useful content that will get you through the exam with the least amount of fuss and distraction.
