Global Wine Academy presents a concise, rational methodology for WSET exam preparation. During the course, several "light bulbs" ignited and suddenly I saw a clear path through an overwhelming amount of information. They thought me how to focus my answers to the most compound of questions. They gave critical tips on how to best organise responses to garner high scores. I truly believe I would not have passed the daunting D3 without having enrolled in their courses!

Jim’s tasting course for the D3 Diploma examination was truly indispensable to me, it being instrumental to my passing this daunting exam on the first attempt.

His course cut through the haphazard WSET text and tasting tuition I had received through my APP, providing an easy-to-understand yet comprehensive framework for tasting effectively under exam conditions. The wine samples which supported my course were in fantastic condition, and were clearly carefully selected to maximise impact as we honed our tasting practice in the run up to the exam date. Not least, Jim’s warm and positive teaching approach reinforced my confidence that I could taste analytically, a belief that I lost for a time during the Diploma programme. All of this was achieved while subtly reinforcing the theory elements of the D3 syllabus.

In short, I cannot thank or recommend Jim highly enough!

If you are a WSET Diploma student, do yourself a favor and sign up for the Diploma tasting and theory workshops with Jim Gore’s Global Wine Academy! Of course, you still have to study hard everyday to pass the exams; but Jim will teach you how to study efficiently, identify what the examiners are looking for and apply the knowledge to the Diploma questions. I just passed the D3 with merits and must say that studying with Jim and Erica was one of the best decision I have ever made during my journey into wine!

Excellent guidance to taking the brutal D3 theory exam, including weekly assignments that were done as a small group and individually, then graded and extensively discussed. A huge thank you to both Jim and Erica to my success in passing it!

3 months ago I completed the D3 course with Jim and I just got the exams results. Passed both tasting and theory. I highly recommend his programs.
As non-native English speaker the course helped me building the answers the way WSET expect you to. Also the course will give you some tricks to study the book, be able to complete the questions in the right time and maximice your points in the exam. (Jim knows about every aspect of the WSET program)

The tasting course was straight to the point and a way to summarize all the wines you have to taste to a base of 15 wines from where you can take off and plan your tastings to complement your studies in a more effective way (specially selecting the right wines you should be able to tell apart in the exam). Taste all the wines from the book and try to tell them apart with out a plan can be overwhelming. This course will select the benchmark wines of the most important regions for the exam.

Also you will have a study group and you will help and motivate each other at your lowest.

It is really worth it!

I can honestly say I would not have passed the theory and tasting D3 diploma exams without doing the theory and tasting course. It’s well worth doing and thanks again for getting me through. Charlotte

The teaching style is warm and inclusive and their passion for wine and communication are inspirational.

I enrolled with GWA to prepare for the exam of the Fortified Wines Module of the WSET Diploma. It is impressive how Jim dominates all the fundamental techniques and aspects of the Diploma exam and how he gave us deep insights and guidance for both the tasting and theory parts of the syllabus. He is always accessible and truly concerned about addressing candidates questions and doubts. I learned a lot more than expected and it helped to ensure I could succeed in this though part of the Diploma journey.

Wonderful! There aren’t enough stars or accolades on the board to reflect the level of Jim’s stellar teaching ability. Seven stars wouldn’t be enough.
I recently took two preparatory classes for WSET D3 with Jim (Tasting) and Jim and Erica (Theory).
My success on the tasting exam was principally due to Jim communicating his laser sharp incite and understanding of what the examiners were looking for. Jim’s advice proved to be dead on. Jim co-taught the theory course with his brilliant partner Erica Dent, (who together, in my opinion, are the best wine theory teaching team on the planet). Through their expert guidance, correction, and encouragement, they managed to stickhandle me into becoming a WSET Diploma graduate. To them, I raise my glass and toast…hats off, and kudos Jim and Erica!

I recently did with Jim the Sparkling and Fortified masterclasses and i cannot recommend it high enough.

The classes are structured to help students to take the best decisions during WSET Diploma exams. Jim was always supportive and available for any questions.
It gave me the necessary confidence to succeed during these stressful examinations.

Having taking Jims tasting course prior to my D5 (Fortified) exam, I knew what I got myself into signing up for his D3-course. :-D

What I was really happy to find was the amount of incredibly useful practice documents and ways to hone my writing. For every new assignment, I got one huge step forward in getting the skills and confidence to ace the tasting portion of the D3-exam.

Having the group sessions compounded my knowledge whilst also giving ways to voice questions and ways to tackle difficulties.

I signed up with Jim for WSET Sparkling (D4) ; Fortified (D5) and just wrote my Still Wines (D3) exam after again attending the GWA D3 programme. Jim taught me many skills but more significantly has shown me ways to leverage also, the knowledge and experience gained from the WSET school curriculum. GWA training is complementary and focuses on techniques for success, and that's what makes it so powerful. It really gives you "the edge" in the exam as well as in your future ability to express your assessment of wine.

Jim is amazing and an excellent teacher. I did two courses with him on D3 theory and tasting, very useful. I only have words of recommendation. He explains every detail in a simple and practical way. He prepares you on a highly professional level but also on a psychological level. I am delighted to have been able to prepare with him.
