After my first SIV with Karlis ( I flew with my school wing with red ribbon ), hungry for more I came back for a week of progression in France. We flew everyday in stunning places perfecting takeoffs, thermalling, soaring, landing, to name few. Breathtaking experiences to say the least! We discussed a lot individually during debriefs. Karlis shared lots of observations, insights, reccomendations and fantastic humour! I have lots of respect for him and Cecile. And I felt treated the same.

Karlis has a wealth of knowledge of the Aerology of the flying arenas around St.Andre & Chabre which can be complex & challenging. His flying/guiding skills are top notch that make flying with him a safe & amazing experience.

Karlis, Cecile and Krisjanis were an amazing team of instructors to learn from. I progressed much further than I expected to, and I only wish I could have spent more time with them! Karlis and Krisjanis are extremely knowledgeable about paragliding, and Karlis is very easy to trust on the radio and is an amazing communicator. Cecile did a wonderful job of getting footage for us that I have been reviewing and learning from. I felt extremely safe and well looked after throughout the whole course. I couldn't be happier with my experience and I will be coming back for more courses with them.

Karlis has an impressive understanding of the wing's performance and conveys that confidence to you without pushing you beyond your limits.

Chris was extremely helpful and supported us during takeoff, staying with us the entire time.

Cecile did a great job filming all of our maneuvers.

The whole crew is supportive and well organized. Karlis clearly knows what the wing is doing at all times and transmits that confidence to you, without pressuring you into a place you're not yet able to be. Kris stayed with us at the takeoff, very helpful and supportive. Cecille did an amazing job recording all our (not so) impressive maneuvers.

I recently did a SIV course with Karlis. My experience was incredible, the efficiency and professionalism of how the course was planned and then executed was beyond my expectations. I cannot believe how much I was able to progress, I felt as though they were very in tune with my level and ability. I could not reccomend Karlis, Cecile and Krisjanis enough. I will definitely be doing another course with them.

I've been through both a progression course and a SIV with him, and I can't recommend him enough. He really knows his stuff, not just the technical side and teaching methods, but also how to handle the mental side of flying. He's all about real improvement, taking no shortcuts as an instructor himself and always promoting safe and smart paragliding journey. Going with Karlis is the best decision you can make if you want to get serious about paragliding!

The whole organization with pre-reads and the structure of the course were very helpful and made the experience easy to follow and pleasant. Great briefing and debriefing and a fun atmosphere with friendly people.

This was my 2nd course with Flyingkarlis and while my experience was great the first time, I was even more impressed now. It's obvious that the team strives to polish every single detail. I saw actual improvements since last year-from little details, up to the design of the course structure- resulting in faster progression and higher satisfaction. The best part however is still there: the instructor works with each one of the students individually, rather than simply ticking boxes. Another standout is that the course expands beyond just the scope of your typical SIV, and you actually come out as a better and more informed pilot overall.

I am a low hour pilot that signed up for the Spring Progression course to gain more confidence under my canopy. Karlis’ course struck my eye after watching a bunch of his very informative youtube videos. I was curious about SIV and Garda sounded like a good place to start. Karlis’ curriculum is so well built that it builds your base in a successful flying career from the very beginning. Karlis’ breadth of knowledge and effortless teaching skills makes him the perfect instructor/mentor. The course is tapered to allow pilots to effectively progress in their own pace. One thing that stood out to me during the course was the free flight community. The whole crew looked after one another, and properly enjoyed each other’s company under rainy or sunny skies. Flyable weather is totally out of our control so I will not go into detail here. Definitely planning to come back and bother Karlis & Cecile some more.

Even though the weather was a little against us we still would go out and fly even if it was just raining we made the most out of what we were dealing with whether it was rain or some other obstacle. I think we all had a great time doing this together and it definitely unlocked a new part of us knowledge and skill wise in the world of paragliding.

What an extraordinary instructor, pilot, mentor and just incredible human being - words dont do justice for this walking encyclopedia of Paragliding knowledge. My sons and I spent 3 days doing an SIV course and then an XC refresher with Karlis and his team in Italy last week and found both so valuable. The organization was flawless, the tutoring clear, precise and very well structured , the support at takeoff , in the air , landing and post flight briefings well thought out and comprehensive. My sons and i will be continuing our Paragliding journey with additional courses with Karlis, Cecile and Krisjanis without doubt - thanks team

I’ve been flying for 10 years but needed confidence progressing to XC. I felt it was money well spent to do private training and Karlis was recommended by a number of people. He’s also highly regarded by Flyeo and BGD. Karlis spent 2 hours doing ground schooling and then coordinated my flight from the ground. Within 45 minutes he’d guided me through efficient thermaling and I was at cloud base. We also talked about meteo and judging gentler conditions for progression.

I would highly recommend a dedicated day of training with Karlis if you either beginning, progressing or wanting to fine tune to competition standard, given his numerous national championships wins.

I have participated in two Karlis courses - SIV in Italy, Lake Garda and Progression course in France, Chabre. It was a great choice.
SIV was well organised, with video records, rescue boat, theoretical knowledge about manoeuvres and reserve packing as well as a lot of practical experience in the air. It was awesome that Karlis was adopting his program to each of us individually. Doing manoeuvres at your own pace better stays in memory and muscle memory too. We were flying as much as weather allowed us in those three days.
I will always remember Karlis calm voice on the radio at SIV, even when I had to throw the reserve and after it - ''enjoy the swim'' .
When I was in the progression course in France there was a heat wave. It was so hot and flyable at Chabre just for two days, but Karlis was creative and we were able to fly every day of that week in different mountains. So great job Karlis! Everyone was happy.
Karlis has wide knowledge about weather and how to better work with people from psychological aspects.
Overall experience was great with Karlis, I highly recommend him as paragliding mentor and for SIV.
