Baffled

Myself, daughters and daughter in law went to Eden Hall on 15/4/23. Although the spa was lovely, the treatments were not so great.
I had a facial, which was probably the worse I’ve ever had. 2 others had the same massage. Both were left baffled by what they had experienced. All they are interested in is what products they can sell you.

Needs to improve

To start with the good - the massage was great and incredibly relaxing….
However when we arrived our treatment times had been moved without any consultation with us, when we went for our treatment one was delayed by over 10 minutes!
Also we arrived at 9am when the spa opened- tried to booking number of classes only to be told they were all full 😦
Lunch was interesting the vegi pasta was dry and lacking any inspiration, the ladies sat next to us were being advised there was no Rose and then no white wine left at lunch….

After lunch we tried to order coffee in the conservatory- it was hard to find a staff member to take our order for a very long time!
The slumber room had someone pushing a very noisy trolley up and down the corridor outside the room so it was like sunbathing on a train track …..
Would I go back again…. No
There is better value to be had 14 miles south on the A46 at Ragdale

Gone really downhill

We’ve been going to Eden Hall for years and today we really felt it has gone downhill.

Don’t get me wrong, if you’ve not been before, it’s a lovely day. Just nothing like it used to be, and more costly.

It was much busier, so we couldn’t get a lounger by the pool at first. We could also hardly get in the hot tub as it was so busy all the time.

There used to be a really good buffet and salad bar, with nice breads and vegetables, and some hot food, which has now gone. We did get a side of 4 pieces of bread once we’d asked, and the food we did have was nice. You used to get a hot drink after lunch in the lounge area, which is no longer provided. The slumber lounge was packed and there were no blankets left. The gym was also really busy in the morning and no cardio equipment was available for a while.

The staff are all lovely, and we had a nice day. There are just much better spas now, like ragdale hall, for not much more cost.

Nowhere near as good as previous…

Nowhere near as good as previous visits. Eating a hot meal on a sofa not being served at a dining table, was not what I expected. Plates to hot to pick up coffee table, they cooled as did food. Which at best was okay. Pool cold. Having to wave frantically to get a drink in restaurant and waiting tenet mins before being served. Ummmmm

Nice day

Polite staff. Fantastic 3 course meal but cold sat in dressing gown in the dining room . Also cold in the meditation class which I did comment on to the instructor saunas spotless Nice pool but little cool. Cool In the conservatory. Lovely building .

Not a patch on what it use to be like…

Not a patch on what it use to be like and comes at a price ! Don’t bother going to relax by the poolside you will be fighting for a spare bed because they will all have towels on but no bums!! Far superior places out there now for the price Ye Olde Bell Spa at Barnby Moor for one !!! Smaller and more personalised ! Spend your well earned money at one like this instead !!

I booked treatments and had not…

I booked treatments and had not appreciated I would not be allowed to get a robe or have lunch in between two slots with a three hour wait in between. I stayed in my clothes and could only a cup of tea and had travelled some distance. I decided to change my afternoon treatment to another date which I couldn’t make but have two days notice and was not expecting from their reply that I would have to pay AGAIN for the treatment I wanted to reschedule. The email did not say that. It surely cannot be right to take your money without providing a service you haven’t received and is not what you would expect of a setting you book a treatment for to feel relaxed and have a treat!

Don’t expect any flexibility at this spa - it comes at a huge cost!

I booked a spa day with a friend. Total cost £480. I wanted to move it to a different day (only by 2 days which was available still on their website) and was told I couldn’t unless I paid £40!!! I was advised I should have taken out insurance to allow me to move it.
I’m astounded that I would be charged any amount for a 5 minute admin job when I am spending such a huge amount of money. I felt like I was dealing with the Ryanair of spas! I am a regular spa user and have never experienced anything like this situation. I won’t be using them again no matter how lovely a day I have when I’m there. A total rip off and demonstration of an organisation that doesn’t put the customer at the heart of what they are doing.

This was my first visit since lockdown…

This was my first visit since lockdown - devastated that the buffet wasn't available anymore, and really shocked and stunned that you don't even get a cup of tea to enjoy in the conservatory after your lunch! We paid £189 for the day and to not receive a cup of tea is quite honestly a bit tight . I could hear the washer spinning loudly while having my wonderful massage and then ...wait for it we could hear it in the slumber lounge! I mean....??!?!??!?
Staff are lovely, classes great, food scrumptious.... but for this money its the little details .... not in a rush to return which makes me sad as I have been over the moon previously.

Escape from the outside world

I have used Edenhall as a day guest many times over the years and have always had an exceptional experience, the staff are friendly and the facilities are excellent. In August 2021 I had the opportunity to put in a 12 month membership at the spa. At the time I was exhausted after running businesses and completing an MBA during COVID. Edenhall team and their facilities have helped me to regain both balance and head space. From their delicious food and drink in the restaurant and on the terrace to the beautiful gardens and outside hot tubs to the pool and heat therapies, Edenhall is truly a place to escape the busyness of the outside world. I have benefitted from massages and manicures and sometimes escaped by myself and sometimes with friends. I can’t thank the Edenhall team enough for their excellent customer service. I will be back as a day guest again, especially once the new spa garden is complete. Highly recommend for a day, an evening escape or as a member.

Gone downhill

Have visited Eden hall on many occasions and the highlight was always the food and salad bar. Alas this has all been replaced with mediocre 3 course meal - dessert possibly was the best bit!
My robe was threadbare and there were tiles missing in some areas of the spa . One outdoor hot tub out of action meant that the other was constantly full ! Cold mist shower out of action . Foot spa cold. One member of staff rude .

Outdoor area nice For the increased price you pay there are better spas to attend now so won’t rush back

Not what it used to be

Not what it used to be. First visit for over 2 years due to covid although we have been many times before that since it opened. Although there as been some investment, the numbers admitted to the spa are much higher. We had to queue to get in, could not find a seat in the conservatory to get a coffee, found many of the steam and sauna rooms full, not enough loungers in the pool area. Lunch was also rather average rather than the treat it used to be. Eden Hall used to have a really nice exclusive feel but now it is a bunfight to make use of the facilities. The reason I have given 2 stars was the staff were good and the pre-booked treatments spot on. However we will be spending our money elsewhere in future.

The new way of living

In this climate we live in, this company is Morley wrong with no Principles . I would NOT recommend this venue or any part of this group to anyone .
We were a party of 7 , nearly £1000 on lunch / spa for an 80th birthday surprise . You have to pay upfront and asked to pay insurance of £20 per head if required ( extra £140 )Unfortunately 1 of the party got a positive result on a Covid test when feeling ill on the day before. As the 80 year old would be vulnerable , another member of the party had just got over cancer thinking about other people there and members of staff did the moral thing as on the government guide lines which tell you to stay away from people for 5 days . rang up to try and get a refund for just one of the group . Which was to no avail .
Told he could not have a refund but could pay £20 to get a voucher . Also when speaking to the Manager she inferred that if he wished to come and spend the day fully positive on day 2 of Covid,this was acceptable ! I think this is morally wrong today ( the new way of living ) . So this company has ruined what should have been a special occasion . Thank you Eden Hall for having no care of your staff or customers .

Good spa facilities

Good spa facilities, not too crowded and gorgeous food. Would have been 5 stars if the loungers were more comfortable, the dressing gowns were a bit fluffier and we hadn't been sat next to a dripping ceiling in the restaurant. The staff were all lovely and welcoming and we felt thoroughly relaxed at the end of our visit.

Strongly suggest reading the terms and…

Strongly suggest reading the terms and conditions on the website before booking. £20 per head to rearrange a booking, without insurance. So charged extra if you do and charged extra if you don’t. Seems the policy hasn’t been altered to take into consideration people contracting Covid-19. Called and spoke to reception giving a week notice which they would easily fill and still wanting to take an extra £100 ‘admin charge’ to rearrange date. Real let day after coming for past few years. Feels like you are taken advantage of, especially in the current climate ££.

Disappointed by customer service

Booked to go with friends to Eden spa, unfortunately caught covid 6 days before the visit. As I was unable to get out of bed let alone travel to the spa, my friend who booked the trip let the spa know and asked for my visit to be refunded. Was told it was not possible to have a refund as we hadn’t taken out insurance, £20 per guest. They instead issued a voucher for £79 . We paid £99 per person. I queried this and was informed that an admin fee of £20 was deducted.I asked how they could justify this charge as a salaried member of staff had merely sent an email containing said voucher. After 3 call during the day they finally agreed to reimburse the extra £20 but this has not happened. I still feel very angry that I was not given a full refund, I physically was unable to attend and as far as I am concerned they are keeping my money under false pretences which they cover themselves by saying it was in their terms and conditions. I now have a voucher which doesn’t even cover the cost of a return visit

Nice but disappointed, don't get them to order and give surprise gifts as they don't turn up!

I came to Edan hall on Saturday 19th march 22 after not been here for a few years, I came with my mum and the spa day was a gift for her 60th birthday. We felt the standards wasn't the same as the last time we came, food was nice but very small portions and little choice, the showers were cold, the pool looked rusty and dirty in places and the relaxation room wasn't as relaxing as it used to be,
it didn't have the same feel to the place. A big disappointment was my mum's friend had secretly arranged a surprise bottle of prosecco and flowers to be given to my mum at lunch time by the staff, this was all paid for by her friend for my mums 60th birthday BUT it Never turned up and the staff hadn't given her the surprise!!! Later that night after realising she didn't receive what she paid for she chased it up with the staff to see why it hadn't got given to my mum and they never even apologised or gave a reason why?? the friend is still waiting for her refund now!!!! Overall I wouldn't go back again I don't think it's as good as it used to be and il be going elsewhere next time, the spark I feel has gone from this place, even booking the spa day was difficult trying to get hold of staff over the phone was difficult the phone constantly rings, waiting for emails of confirmation that never came through so had to chase.
A big disappointment really for this place.
