Tom, Ellen and their team were totally professional in delivering a beautiful send off for a lovely gentleman John Taylor. They are always very considerate and a pleasure to deal with.

East Durham took care of my Granda when he sadly passed recently. The service and care they provided was excellent from start to finish. They organised everything for the funeral for us, even everything for the wake, making the whole process as stress-free as possible, and the day ran as smoothly as it could. Special thanks to Tom and Ellen who we mostly dealt with and were both very professional and helpful throughout. Thanks again.

My sister and I received an excellent service from East Durham Funeral Service following the recent death of our mother. From start to finish, Tom, Ellen and the team kept us fully informed and were exceptionally professional, kind and courteous throughout. We could not have asked for a better service, they met our every need.

We chose East Durham Funeral service when mam passed away and from day one, Ellen was very caring putting us at ease at a really difficult time. We found that every detail was covered, from the requirements we wanted from the funeral team, to the church and the finer details such as flowers etc. At a time of mourning, it gave us great relief to know that everything was taken care of. The day of the funeral came and we have to thank both Ellen and the team for taking good care of mum and looking after the family, even providing umbrellas, as it rained when we got to the cemetery. The little memory cards sent were also a lovely touch. Thank you all so much.

From the first moment we walked through the door and met Ellen we knew we had made the right decision for my dad's funeral arrangements.
It's the most difficult time in your life but Ellen was amazing throughout. It was more than hand holding, I can only describe it as loving arms wrapped around you and guiding you in every stage.
The day of the funeral, the day you dread, Tom took over from Ellen and again you don't need to think, as this family run business gently guide you throughout this very tough and emotional day.

East Durham Funeral Homes deserves 5 stars, from the way the whole experience was conducted. From the very first visit starting the arrangements, to the service, it was amazing and my nana had a beautiful send off. Ellen was so compassionate and caring, as were the rest of the team, nothing was a trouble to them and even the after care was perfect, checking in on my grandad when they really didn’t need too.Even the people who attended the service commented on how lovely the service was.
I couldn’t recommend this company enough, they made an awful time a little bit easier.

I can highly recommend this excellent firm who offer their service at a reasonable cost. We have used them for both my Mother and lately my Fathers funeral.

Lovely sympathetic people, everyone we spoke to was kind, considerate and helpful. No request was too small or too big to help with, even when requested at short notice.
All aspects of the funeral dealt with so we only had one contact who arranged all details and payment.
Staff also went out of their way to help with requests following the funeral.
Very kind and attentive service - thank you to all (especially Ellen and Tom) at EDFS for making the sad times less stressful.
